You eased yourself onto the bench, beside Jack but facing the other way, towards the rest of the busy pub. "Well listen up and listen up good, 'cause I'll only be sayin' this once, mate," you began. Your pirate friend smiled and took a huge gulp of rum from his tankard. "I don't say this often," you continued, "but...I need your help."

Jack looked up from his rum with a mischievous twinkle in his warm brown eyes. "Oh really? And why is it that you came to me, love?"

You rolled your eyes in exasperation at Jack's never-ending volley of teasing questions. "Because you're my friend. I figured you'd help me.."

"Well that depends on the favor, love." Captain Sparrow took another huge swig of rum from his mug.

"I need your help finding something special of mine.." Jack raised a skeptical eyebrow at you. "My mother's charm necklace. She gave it to me right before she died ten years ago, and I've had it ever since. But my ship was attacked and I couldn't get to it in time."

"What's the profit in it for me?" Jack asked, clearly not affected by your sob story.

"I'll work in your crew."

Jack's head snapped up, his warm brown eyes meeting your (e/c) ones. "Wha's that? Work for me?"

You nodded reluctantly. "I have no more ship, my crew was slaughtered right before me eyes, and you're the only pirate I truly trust to...not harm me.." You hoped he would get the point.

He nodded, seeming to understand. "I see...well, in that case, I'll help you love."

"Really?" Your eyes shone in excitement.

"Absolutely," he grinned, showing off his gold teeth. "And when you're officially part of the Black Pearl's crew, you can teach the rest of them bildrats that one song you used to sing to yourself, do you remember?"

"I do," you nodded and smiled, thinking how lucky you were to be able to finally retrieve your post prized possession. Well, besides your now sunken ship.

Jack lifted his tankard in the air, towards your water-filled one. "Take what ya can!"

"Give nothing back!" you finished, and you both drank heartily, ready for another adventure.
