Bucky

Flashback:

I left that admission office feeling all confident and powerful. But as soon as I stepped into the chilly autumn air, the confidence left me. I was just a fragile girl alone in Brooklyn, not a soldier. At least until I went to training.

I had a few days left before I had to leave to go to training, so I figured I'd go to The World Of Tomorrow. I didn't want to go alone though, so I invited my other best friend, Bucky Barnes.

Bucky wasn't like Steve. He was nice and all, but he dates every lady that lived in Brooklyn. We were close friends, but he was like a brother I didn't have.

"Bucky," I knocked on the door. "Wanna go to the World of Tomorrow? They have a new exhibit and I have to leave tomorrow."

Bucky came out; but he had a girl. Not another double date...

"Hey, Ann. This is Belinda. I was thinking we could go on a double date. I have this perfect guy I know and-" Bucky started. "Wait! Since when do you have short hair? I mean... it looks great... but-"

"Yeah, I know. But I don't think I'm up for a date. I thought we could go me you and Steve, but..." I stated.

"Oh come on! Belinda is one more person it will be great!"

...

It wasn't great. Bucky and Belinda were inseparable and Steve wouldn't talk to me at all. He just kind of stood there looking miserable.

"Peanuts?" I offered Steve, holding out the little bag. He shook is head. I sighed and turned back around to the exhibit, but only to look back again and not find Steve.

"Bucky," I nudged him. "Bucky!"

"What?" Bucky huffed, obviously annoyed.

"Steve's gone!" I stormed away to find Steve, hoping he wasn't enlisting again. I was so sick of Bucky's games. He was one of my best friends but does he not know how awkward it is for one to be on a 'date' with their best friend?

I ravaged the crowd, only to discover Steve nowhere in sight. So I checked the enlistment office, and what do you know. Jackpot!

"Steve! This is the second time today! It's illegal to lie on your enlistment form! They'll catch you- even worse they'll take you!" I scolded.

"Annie, this isn't about me. There are men laying down their lives! And I have no right to do less than them." Steve yelled.

"You can't go to wa-"

"What am I supposed to do, Ann? Collect scrap metal?"

"Yes!"

"No. I'm enlisting and you can't stop me. I need to help the country, we're in a state of devastation." And with that he left. He ran off into the office, leaving me standing there in the freezing rain.

I wrapped my thin jacket around my shoulders, trying to shroud the rain from drenching me, but it didn't work. I took a taxi home, having just experienced the turning point in my life.

...

Present Day:

"So... Colonel Phillips is assembling a team. But I was thinking of assembling my own. And I wanted you on it." Steve stated, straightening the tie that was hanging from his neck.

"Follow Captain America into the jaws of death? I'm in!" I laughed.

"I would stay, but I'm needed in Stark's lab." He stood up from his chair, patting me on the back as he left the bar. And he left me with a feeling that I wasn't all familiar with. It was sort of tingly and warm, bubbling up inside me like coca-cola. And I could say that I like it...

A/N: Hey guys! Sorry I haven't updated in so long. I've been working on a lot of other books and haven't had any good ideas for this chapter, which is probably why it's so crappy. I have had a bit of writers block, and I'm in desperate need of some ideas. So if anyone had any ideas PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE comment them down below because I REALLY need an idea. Thanks so much for reading!

-Kailey :)
