"Steve?" I questioned.

"Annie? Is that really you?!" Steve kept staring at me. Did I look like an alien?

"Yes, it's me. Now... let's go. They are going to start wondering where I've been."

Steve's crew started catching up to us as we started running. I looked back but the only thing I saw was flames. I took a quick look at Steve. His hair was dangling in front of his face which was covered in dirt and his own blood. His lip was cut badly and the line of blood was streaking down to his chin. The other men started slacking behind so we slowed down. I could have kept running, but I chose not to because I had to lead them back to the fort. Also my leg was throbbing, so I didn't want to further injure it.

"So... anything new happen to you recently?" Steve questioned while running.

"What does it look like to you? Does it seem like I have done anything useful in my life! I mean, I am here after all." I avoided his gaze.

"I thought you came to find me and we could reunite."

"No... I came here on my own choice. I had no idea you were going to be here and I certainly had no intention of finding you here." I stopped abruptly. My leg was about to give out from the excruciating pain. And it did because I collapsed to the ground. Steve ran for a meter and saw me on the ground so he came back. He sat on the ground with me and held my leg.

"How in the world did you get a wound of that size!" He took out his hankerchief and wrapped it around the cut.

"Let's just say that rocks are utterly nasty." I stood up with some help from Steve's shoulder. It was extremely muscular.

"Come on, we should start to hurry. Peggy is going to start wondering where we've been." Steve started walking. I hobbled behind him, struggling to keep up with his pace.

"Who is Peggy?" I asked.

"Well, she is an English General for the US army. She works directly with me." Steve looked strangely at me, then started walking slower as though to walk with me.

"So, how did you become, well... that?" I took a look at his once emaciated body which was now all muscles. He used to be five feet tall but now he was more than six!

"Some super serum... I would rather not talk about the procedures and everything." He looked away from me, as though he knew something that I did not.

There it was... the US army base.
