Undertale Pacifist: Pt. 1

Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS.

One day, war broke out between the two races.

After a long battle, the humans were victorious. They sealed the monsters underground with a magic spell.

Many years later...

Legends say that those who climb the mountain never return.

10-year old Noa slowly woke-up to find herself laying on a pile of flowers. They looked to be buttercups by the looks of it. Noa looked around in confusion and looked up to see that a small speck of light showed from above. She looked to have fallen down into some sort-of cave. "How did I-?" Noa questioned as she got up. She slowly began to remember going with Aurel and Allison to check out some sort-of cavern and then...there was an earthquake and Noa remembered falling and then.....

A headache made Noa stop think. She must've hit her head as she fell down. "I wonder where I am."

She steadily got up and walked around to investigate the cave she was in; it looked kinda old but it was still lit enough for Noa to see. She stopped only for a moment to notice she was wearing a blue sweater with purple stripes, which she had never seen before. "I wonder where this came from," Noa wondered. She continued to walk for a while until she came to this entrance that led into another cave. In this new cave, Noa found a patch of grass and noticed a little flower growing in it. It took Noa a moment before she realized that this flower had a face; a smiling face at that!

But flowers can't smile, Noa thought. How can this one be smiling?

Noa cautiously approached the smiling flower, walking a little closer to it until she was about a foot away from it, when it spoke to her; "Howdy!" It greeted Noa. "I'm Flowey, Flowey the Flower!"

Seeing no harm in greeting back, Noa smiled at the friendly flower. "Hi Flowey, I'm Noa~," she smiled back at the flower, crouching down so that she was at eye-level to him. She had never met a flower that could smile and talk and this one seemed really nice.

"Hmmm..." Flowey seemed to be looking Noa over, as if he were trying to figure something out. "You're new to the UNDERGROUND, aren'tcha?"

Noa nodded.

"Golly, you must be so confused. Someone ought to teach you how things work around here! I guess little old me will have to do. Ready?"

Considering that Noa knew nothing about this "underground" she figured that she needed all the help she could get. Even though she had just met Flowey, he seemed that he really wanted to help her. "Okay, I'm ready," Noa nodded.

"Here we go!" Flowey declared.

Suddenly, Noa felt something on her chest. She looked down and noticed a glowing red heart had formed on her chest. It was definitely strange and felt strange. Noa looked around and noticed what looked to be a health bar below her feet that read as LV 1 HP 20/20 with a full yellow block in-between the 1 and HP. It all reminded Noa of a video game, which was really strange.

"See that heart? That is your SOUL, the very culmination of your being!" Flowey explained. "Your SOUL starts out weak, but can grow if you gain a lot of LV."

"LV?"

"What's LV stand for? Why, LOVE, of course!"

"Oh."

"You want some LOVE, don't you?"

Noa shrugged.

"Don't worry, I'll share some with you!" Flowey winked and then these white pellets appeared, confusing Noa a bit. "Down here, LOVE is shared through.....Little white "friendliness pellets"."

"Friendliness pellets?" Noa questioned, never before hearing of such a thing.

"Are you ready?" That's when the pellets started moving towards Noa. "Move around and get as many as you can!"

Thinking quickly, Noa ran to try and catch them. When she did, though, they hurt very badly when they hit her, making Noa wince in pain. When Noa looked around, she noticed that the yellow bar was almost red and now read 01/20. "That really hurt," Noa winced.

She looked up to see that Flowey had an evil look on his face, one that scared the living daylights out of the little girl. "You idiot," the flower said. "In this world, it's kill or BE killed! Why would ANYONE pass up an opportunity like this?!"

Noa began shaking in fear as she was surrounded by more pellets with no way out. Tears began to gather in her eyes as she hugged herself. "Papi, help!" She cried.

"Aww, you want your Daddy~?" Flowey laughed. "Too bad! DIE!"

The pellets started closing in on Noa and Flowey laughed as she cried for help. They were just inches away from hitting her when they jut disappeared and the health bar went back to fully yellow and read as 20/20 once more. Flowey looked around in confusion and then saw a flaming ball of fire coming at him. It hit the flower hard and seemed to throw it out of sight, therefore, out of mind.

"What a miserable creature, torturing such a poor, innocent youth," A female voice said. Noa turned to look to see who it was and saw a goat-like creature standing in front of her. It looked to be a woman from what Noa could tell, with blonde fur with a green ribbon tied in front of her horns, green eyes, and she was wearing a long purple robe that appeared to have some sort-of symbol on the front. Plus, she had an accent that reminded Noa of Belgium. She didn't look dangerous. Then again, neither did Flowey and that turned out so well.

The goat-monster creature turned to look at Noa and smiled. "Ah, do not be afraid my child," The creature said. "I am Bella, caretaker of the ruins. I pass through this place every day to see if anyone has fallen down."

Bella? Noa thought. Isn't that Ms. Belgium's human name? But that can't be her...could it?

"You are the first human to come down here in a long time," Bella stated. "Come! I will guide you through the catacombs. This way!"

Bella began to walk ahead of Noa and the little girl followed right behind her. What can I say to her? Noa thought. She doesn't seem like she knows who I am. Noa put those thoughts in the back of her head and followed Bella through a doorway and found the goat-creature waiting for her. Bella began to walk some more and Noa followed behind her. Noa stopped though when she saw that there was a glowing little star near what looked to be fallen leaves. Noa went to touch it and heard a voice say,

"The shadow of the ruins looms above, filling you with determination. HP fully restored."

"Huh?" Noa questioned. "Determination?"

"Come now, my child," Bella insisted, standing on the stairs above.

"Oh, coming," Noa replied, following her up the stairs and going into another room where tiles were on the floor, a switch was on the wall- along with a sign- and a closed door.

"Welcome to your new home, innocent one. Allow me to educate you in the operation of the RUINS." Bella walked over to the tiles on the ground and stepped on four out of the six of them before walking over to the switch on wall. She pulled it and the closed door opened. Bella then turned back to Noa. "The RUINS are full of puzzles. Ancient fusions between diversions and doorkeys. One must solve them to move from room to room. Please adjust yourself to the sight of them."

"Yes Ms. Bella," Noa nodded, understanding what she was saying.

With that said, Bella walked into the next room and Noa followed, stopping only to briefly read the sign on the wall;

Only the fearless may proceed.

Brave ones, foolish ones.

Both walk not the middle road.

Even though she didn't know what the sign meant, Noa continued forward to find Bella waiting for her once more. "To make progress here, you will need to trigger several switches," Bella explained. "Do not worry, I have labeled the ones that you need to flip."

Once again, she proceeded forward over a bridge and Noa followed after her, following the sign that said, Stay on the path. Noa continued forward until she found the switch that had been labeled and triggered it, much to Bella's pleasure. They continued forward and Noa flipped the second one, lowering the spikes on the ground behind Bella.

"Splendid!" Bella declared. "I am proud of you, little one. Let us move to the next room."

The two proceeded forward to the next room, where a fighting dummy was found. "As a human living in the UNDERGROUND, monsters may attack you. You will need to be prepared for this situation. However, worry not! The process is simple: When you encounter a monster, you will enter a FIGHT. While you are in a FIGHT, strike up a friendly conversation. Stall for time. I will come to resolve the conflict. Practice talking to the dummy."

Noa walked over to the dummy and suddenly, four little orange boxes appeared in front of Noa and from left to right, they read as FIGHT, ACT, ITEM, AND MERCY, along with a big white box explaining who dummy was. Noa touched the ACT button and the option Dummy, came up. She clicked on that and saw two new options: Check and Talk. She clicked Talk and said hello to the Dummy, who didn't seem much for conversation. Then a box came up and said Noa won, and that she earned 0XP and 0 Gold.

"Ah, very good," Bella smiled. "You are very good." She proceeded forward and Noa followed after her once more. "There is another puzzle in this room. I wonder if you can solve it?"

As Bella and Noa walked forward, Noa was stopped by a weird frog-like creature that came out of nowhere. The white box read as Froggit attacks you! This "Froggit" was a strange looking frog by the looks of it. Noa pressed ACT again and then chose to Compliment Froggit. "You look really nice, uh, Froggit," Noa complimented.

The white box noted how Froggit didn't understand what she had said, but was flattered anyway.

Just then, Bella came and glared at Froggit, who slowly moved away, ending the battle and allowing Noa to win once more.

Noa read the sign as they moved forward once more; The western room is the eastern room's blueprint.

"I wonder what that means," Noa said as she followed Bella to the next part of the room, where there were spikes on the floor that made Noa nervous.

"This is the puzzle, but...." Bella seemed uncertain about letting Noa do this on her own. "Here, take my hand for a moment."

Noa reached up for Bella's right hand, er, paw, and held onto it, walking forward with Bella over the spikes that disappeared as they went through this path that Bella seemed to know very well.

"Puzzles seem a little too dangerous for now..." They moved forward again but this time, Bella wanted Noa to walk to the end of the room by herself, wanting Noa to trust her in doing this exercise. She left Noa behind and went ahead. When she was out of sight, Noa walked down this long room, not expecting it to be so long, and stopped when she came to a pillar, which Bella came out from behind it and smiled. "Greetings, my child. Do not worry, I did not leave you. I was merely behind this pillar the whole time. Thank you for trusting me."

Noa smiled up at Bella, glad that Bella was proud of what she had done. Bella's smile however, drooped a bit.

"However, there was an important reason for this exercise; to test your independence," Bella explained. "I must attend to some business, and you must stay alone for a while. Please remain here. It's dangerous to explore by yourself." Then Bella had an idea; she reached into her pocket and pulled out a cell phone and gave it Noa to use. Bella told Noa to call her if she needed anything at all.

"Okay, I will," Noa nodded.

"Be good, alrighty?" Bella asked Noa, who nodded back. Bella smiled at Noa one last time before proceeding forward without the little girl.

Noa gulped a bit, now realizing she was all by herself in this strange place. How am I going to get home? She thought as she proceeded through the catacombs on her own.

Can Noa survive what lies ahead of her in the Underground? And what "business" was Bella referring to?
