Dreamtalia Pt. 9
Rose gasped at what she had heard from her "Uncle". He had sounded so evil. And that smirk sent shivers down Rose's spine. How could someone who looked like Spain act so evil?
"Y-You're not Zío Spain," Rose stuttered. "W-Who are you?"
The Spain look-alike smiled at Rose. "What are you talking about chica? Of course it's me~!" He insisted.
Rose shook her head. "No, you're not him. You may look like Zío Spain, but you're not him at all!" Rose then gasped when she remembered what Britain had said at the meeting; The creature will disguise itself as the person the victim cares about the most, whether it be a friend, child, pet, parent, anyone. "You're the one who's been taking everybody. You're the dream creature!"
Noa looked at Rose and then up at her "Dad". "Papí, what is she talking about?" Noa asked.
The Fauchevere chuckled before patting Noa's head. "Don't you worry about it my little tomato~," He told her. "It's nothing."
"Stop lying!" Rose said. "Tell Noa the truth!"
"Spain" growled before holding Noa to his chest as his eyes glowed. "I'm not letting you take my little tomato away from me! You can't take her!"
Noa began having a hard time breathing. She tried to wiggle out of the Fauchevere's grasp but found it impossible. "Papí, it hurts," Noa moaned. "Please let me go."
When Reve heard that, he felt his heart sink. She wanted to leave him, just like all of his friends before. "Y-Y-You want to leave?" He stuttered. "You want to leave me?"
"Papí? Are you okay?" Reve growled a little and began squeezing tighter on Noa, making her wince. "Papí, please let me go."
"...Say that you won't leave me little tomato? Promise me you won't leave like everyone else has."
"Noa, don't!" Rose cried. "You can't! Zío Spain is worried about you. You have to come home."
"But I...I don't know what to do!" Noa cried. She was very confused. If this man wasn't her Father, then she had to leave, but at the same time, she felt bad for the man. She knew he was lonely and she didn't want to leave him alone. What was she to do?
Then she made up her mind; "I want Papí."
Rose gasped and Reve smirked as he placed Noa on the ground, confident that he had won. "See friend? Noa wants to stay here with me." Reve said. "It's time for you to leave~."
"B-But Noa-," Rose stuttered.
"Rose, I've made up my mind," Noa looked up at Rose with tear-filled eyes, shocking her. "I-I want Papí!"
Before Reve could even stop her, Noa ran over to Rose and wrapped her arms around Rose's neck. Noa sobbed uncontrollably but Rose could make-out what she was saying; "I want my real Papí. I wanna go home!"
Reve growled in anger. He had already lost Finland and now he was losing another friend. How could this little girl possibly get Door to change back? He thought as he watched Rose comfort Noa. Then Reve figured it out; Of course, she's Italy daughter. She's just as pure and kind as him. And yet she was able to see right through my facade. How can that be? Does she really have that strong a will?
Just then, the animals that surrounded the three disappeared. Noa looked up and wondered where all the animals had gone. "Were they just an illusion too?" Noa asked.
"I guess so," Rose replied.
"Hey, you!" Amelia's voice rang-out. Everyone turned to see Amelia and the others right behind Rose and Noa. "So you're the creature that has trapped everyone here."
Yet another growl escaped Reve. He hated to admit it but he had lost this friend. But that didn't really matter. He smirked at the children as they went up to Noa and Rose to check on them. Then he said, "I'll admit it, you children are strong. But I can be your worst nightmare~."
"Why don't you cut the crap and tell us where everyone else is?" Amanda shouted.
"Where's Papa and Katrina?" Rose questioned.
"Oh, Italy and Katrina? They're fine~. Italy's sleeping and Katrina's with her Vati for a jog," Reve answered. "But you'll never make it to them~. Well then, toodle-oo~."
Then Reve disappeared right in front of them. Suddenly, the ground began to shake, causing the girls to fall over. "What's happening?!" Natie asked as the rumbling slowly intensified.
"This world is falling apart!" Amelia replied. "We have to leave, now!"
All nine girls steadied themselves as they ran for their lives. With each shake, the ground cracked even more and before long the ground began to move out-of place. As they ran, Allison tripped and got her foot stuck in a crack in the ground. Noa quickly skidded to a halt and went back to aid her friend while the others ran ahead. However, she couldn't get her foot unstuck. "Noa, go!" Allison insisted. "Leave me!"
"No!" Noa replied. "I'm not leaving you behind!"
Noa used all of the strength she could to try and held Allison but nothing worked. Then, from out of nowhere, a second pair of hands wrapped around Noa's and helped her to try and free Allison. Noa glimpsed back for a moment to see that it was Key. Memories of the small amount of time the two spent together played in her head; he had been the first one to greet her in the strange world and was also the one to bring her to the farmhouse, where she had met up with her "Father". Whenever she hadn't been with the animals, she would look around for Key and talk to him, finding his company nice. He reminded her of someone she knew...someone she had a bit of a crush on.
Soon, the two were able to free Allison from the crack in the ground. Allison had to lean on Noa for support, finding her leg injured and hard to walk on. "Oww," she winced. "My leg."
"You have to hurry," Key told Noa. "This place won't last much longer." He then took his cloak, ripped a piece of it off, and tied it around Allison's ankle, supporting her up by placing her arm around his shoulder. "Okay, let's go."
Soon the three found the gate. Noa and Key helped Allison get over first and then Key supported Noa up and over. Once she was safely on the other side, Noa turned back to Key, who was climbing up as well, when the ground had separated and Key had to jump back onto the ground, unable to reach the gate. "Key!" Noa shouted, trying to reach out to him.
"No Door, go!" Key told her. "You have to escape...you have to live."
"B-But," Noa began to tear up.
Key smiled a soft grin at her. "Go, I'll be fine."
Noa clenched up her fists but nodded, helping Allison up and getting her away from the destruction. She didn't look back and Key was glad.
"Goodbye Door...My friend." He whispered, unaware that someone was right behind him.
Back to Noa and Allison, they made their way back to the path, where the other capitals were waiting for them. "Are you all right?!" Chen shouted. "We had no idea where you two were, aru!"
"Oui, we are fine," Allison winced.
"Allison, your ankle," Amelia gasped.
"It's fine," Allison tried to play it off. "I just, need to take it easy, no?"
Just then, there was a series of loud cracking and crumbling sounds. The girls all turned to see the farmland was utterly destroyed, with the land caving in on itself and leaving nothing but a large pit. No one spoke for the longest time.
"....It's all gone," Noa finally squeaked out, clinging to Allison's side.
Rose soon went to Noa's side and gave her one of her best hugs. "It's okay Noa," Rose tried to convince her cousin. "It'll be okay."
"Yes," Amelia agreed. "You're free now. We're going to get you home, all right?"
Noa sniffled but nodded, staying close to Allison's side.
As they were about to leave, Naomi noticed something on the ground. She bent down to see a tarot card on the ground. "Everyone, come take a rook at this," Naomi called.
Everyone gathered around the card and were shocked at what was on the card; it looked like Noa just moments before with her prized bull sitting next to her in the image. At the top was the title, Door, Noa Carriedo.
"Is that, me?" Noa asked.
"Sort of," Amelia explained. "It's like a soul imprint of what you use to be like."
"Oh."
"Now zhat I look at zhis more, zhis card looks like zhe ones Spain gave to Papa," Allison realized.
Naomi stared at the card before picking it up. "I think I sharr hord onto it for save keeping," Naomi stated.
"Why?" Natie questioned.
"I found it, so I keep it," Naomi explained.
"Well finders keepers, losers weepers," Amanda said.
Amelia rolled her eyes. "It doesn't really matter right now." That's when she noticed another card on the ground from the corner of her eye. She picked up and found that it was Key in fighting stance with his sword in hand. The title read, Key, Aurel Beilschmidt. She gulped, realizing it meant that the arcana was no longer around. She quickly slipped it in her pocket, not wanting Noa to get upset, and then cleared her throat; "All right, now then, we should be heading South."
The capitals have narrowly escaped the wrath of Reve. However, can they really stop him? Or are the remaining people trapped in the dream world stuck in his grasp forever?
