01 | TRESSPASER
The minute Bella went off to chase after Irena, something changed. Jacob had felt it, somewhere deep within his bones, and something told him Renesmee had felt it too.
The young hybrid had looked away from her mother's direction to stare at the snowy forest behind her, which was suddenly still and silent. Wary, almost watching
Like white naked limbs slowly unwinding, the trees began to quiver slightly; shaking, seeming almost nervous as to what was to come. That's when Jacob heard it. A single footstep, slamming against the white snowy earth a few yards away.
He leapt in front of Renesmee, canines bared as a foreign smell consumed the air around them. The smell of nightshade, of the sea burning in a sunny day, of an unknown vampire trespassing through marked territory.
The stranger from within the trees seemed to falter, before making his way towards the two. Jacob made another sound of fury, stopping short when he realized the noises weren't doing much affect.
He turned his head to his imprint, silently pleading for her to run. She must have caught the message, because she nodded slightly and sprinted into the woods in a blur of bronze hair and creamy skin.
Jacob spun back around and sprung into the woods, towards the stranger. His mouth stayed ajar, his large brown eyes swimming among the leaves of the trees. He analysed every movement, every breath the earth took until he heard it.
"Her." Murmured a voice, childlike and chilling like the freezing wind.
Jacob slammed forwards, mouth snapped open to bite whoever it was. His body slumped against nothing, and his eyes narrowed in confusion. He could have sworn there was something there just now.
He stared down at the ground, glaring at the faint footstep that stood right under his nose. A coat of snow fell over the evidence, slowly encasing it.
Her, Jacob thought, trying to decipher what that meant. It came to him with a start, and his whole body stiffened in responded.
Nessie, something in his stomach dropped as he took off into a sprint where his imprint had disappeared.

She knew it was chasing her. Whatever it was, it was chasing her. It was fast, but not quite reaching her. As if it was holding back.
Renesmee was panicking, her heart thumped in her chest as she made her way up the slope of a hill, clawing the rocks softly and starting to climb. The cliff was lopsided, cold and covered in snow, but she couldn't ponder on that fact.
The moment her hand touched flat ground, she pushed herself into the cliff, shivering at the sound of something-or someone-humming behind her.
She listened warily at the sound of footsteps climbing up the hill as she pushed herself to the very corner of it, the back of her feet handing off the cliff.
"Please leave me alone." She whimpered, her fists held closely to her chest, eyes near tears.
A small pale hand slapped into the edge of the cliff as the person heaved themselves forward. The young hybrid caught a glimpse of blood red eyes and-
Renesmee's foot slipped though the edge of the cliff, her mouth opening into a silent scream as her body turned into a dead weight against the chilling breeze.
"Mommy! Daddy!" She cried out, feeling the cold breeze slap against the folds of her jacket. "Jake!"
In some part of her panicked mind, she spotted Bella leaping from between the trees, an expression of horror and shock on her face. Jacob stood beside her, paws pounding against the snow as he tried to make it to her in time.
He wouldn't make it in time.
Renesmee screwed her eyes shut, a whimper escaping her lips as she readied herself for the thump of slamming against the ground. The impact never came.
Cold hands wrapped around her torso, and another weight pressed against her. She opened her eyes just to catch a lock of gold hair brushing against her cheeks.
"Freeze."
