German Chocolate Fudge
The chocolate fudge just melts in your mouth with the first bite and the coconut pecan frosting is amazing on top. You are going to love this fudge especially if you love German Chocolate Cake!
~Ingredients:
-For the Fudge:*
1 Cup Butter, cut into 8 pieces.
2 Cups Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips.
2 Cups Milk Chocolate Chips.
4 1/2 Cups Granulated Sugar.
1 (12 ounce) Can Evaporated Milk.
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract.
-For the Frosting:
1 1/2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream.
1 1/2 Cups Granulated Sugar.
5 Egg Yolks.
6 Tablespoons Butter.
2 Cups Sweetened Coconut Flakes.
1 1/2 Cups Pecans, chopped.
~Directions:
Step 1: Line a 9 inch by 13 inch pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper and lightly spray with nonstick spray. Leave enough aluminum foil overhanging on the sides to lift the fudge out of the pan. Set aside.
Step 2: Place 1 cup butter and both of the chocolate chips in a large bowl. Set aside.
Step 3: In a large saucepan combine the granulated sugar and evaporated milk.
Step 4: Bring to a boil over medium high heat stirring constantly for 10 minutes.
Step 5: Pour the sugar mixture over the chocolate chips and butter.
Step 6: Using an electric mixer beat the mixture for 3 minutes. Mix in the vanilla extract.
Step 7: Spread the fudge into the pan. Allow to completely cool before frosting.
~Making the Frosting:
Step 8: In a medium saucepan stir together the heavy cream, sugar, egg yolks, and the butter.
Step 9: Cook over medium heat until the mixture starts to thicken and coats the back of the spoon.
Step 10: Add in the coconut flakes and the chopped pecans and mix well.
Step 11: Let the mixture completely cool before frosting the fudge.
Step 12: Once you put the frosting on, refrigerate for another hour so they are easy to cut.
Step 13: Eat and Enjoy!
~Recipe Notes:
*We used 2 Cups of Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips and 2 Cups Milk Chocolate Chips but you can use any type of chocolate chips you want (dark, sweet, white, milk etc...). You can even mix it up and use 4 cups of the same type of chocolate chips or mix and match it (2 cups dark chocolate / 2 cups milk chocolate or 3 cups white chocolate / 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips etc...) get creative and use your imagination. Which ever combination of chocolate chips you use, it will be tasty.
