June#1 The new Helel
Hey candies,
How are y'all doing?
How's the new month going, I sincerely wish you guys the best this new month and pray everything goes your way. Well as promised, I'm going to be reviewing the listed books throughout this month...I really missed you guys. My next review is going to be on "The new Helel" by Aleksandr_Vincente...
I'm going to review it under the following headings.
Plot Development:
Well, I honestly have a lot to say about the plot. Let me start with the fact that I honestly love the concept of this book. It somehow reminds me of "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown...
I love the way you used flashbacks to give us an idea of past events and though the story is still ongoing, I can somehow link the past and present.
I love the way you switched POVs, that really gives readers an insight of the major characters.
Though the story is gradually approaching it's climax, I can confidently say that I feel the heat. I love the conflict between Dareios and Azazil...that's really an important ingredient in every book.
I love the fact that you also made a glossary at the beginning, that helps readers understand certain terms used in the book.
However, I noticed that Asaroth's actions were kind of repeated. What I mean is that, when he blinks...how is it interpreted as yes or no?.
Because, the only sign that was used in the book was "he blinked once"...so, I'm kind of confused how blinking once means "Yes and no". It would be nice if Blinking once means "Yes and Good" and blinking twice means "no and bad"...that way, readers won't be confused at his Father's way of communication.
Furthermore, the plot of this book is moving sequentially...not too fast or slow paced.
I love the way it's gradually going, and I would like you to please make out time to update soon. I honestly couldn't stop myself from reading on... sincerely speaking, I think this is the kind of book that deserves high recognition cause it's soooo good.
I really do hope to see a lot of drama between Dareios and Azazil soon...and yeah maybe Bethesda
So it's a 8/10
Character development:
I honestly love each and everyone of the characters...
I still don't understand how Azazil doesn't see...was he created like that?
Well I honestly bonded with the characters and the plot in general.
I can't wait to see what you have in store for your readers.
As a reader, I related to the characters especially Azazil. I honestly understood how he felt, the fact that many people expect a lot from you and you have to struggle to meet their expectations.
How one has to follow constant rules and protocols...how if found guilty of default has to suffer severe punishment...how people struggle to be perfect and be forced to do things they don't really want to.
I would really want to know Azazil's "failure" that made him merit such harsh punishment...
I would also love to know how Dareios' father got so ill...I wonder why he so much believes that Heaven is the cure...I have a feeling that even if they get to shamayim...they wouldn't be accepted. I see Seraphiel as a very harsh brother that doesn't want to have "no as an answer" and yeah applies a lot of pressure too. He sounds really scary and he reminds me of someone I know...thinking about it is really...tiring.
Another thing I would love to know, is the reason behind Dareios and Bethesda's breakup...she actually looks really sweet.
I would also love to know what happened to Madurk after his dismissal.
Like I said earlier, the whole concept of the book is wonderful...the characters aren't really much, but the few that are used, have really important roles in the progression of the book.
So it's a 9/10
Book cover:
I honestly love the book cover, it says a lot about the book.
Whenever I think of Azazil, or I want to get an idea of how Azazil looks, I just look at the cover.
I would love to know your cover artist, because I'm thinking about writing a horror book soon.
It's a 9/10
Grammatical erorrs:
I honestly commend your grammar...you're really good, like on a totally exaggerated level.
There where some chapters that I didn't spot a single error.
Your good grammar really made the reading experience a lot better.
Though I did spot minor errors, but yeah...correcting our errors is what makes us better writers.
And so, the corrections to errors are in bold and additional explanation given in brackets. Please if you have issues at any point, don't hesitate to draw my attention and I'll be happy to clarify your doubts.
Here it goes...
Shamayim:
The gates of shamayim would then open, showing all who were welcomed, an awe inspiring world. (Take note of the comma and "welcomed")
Azazil I:
Azazil wondered how long it has been since the click struck
( "has been" is used when an action happened in the past but hasn't been completed..."had been" is used when an action started and ended in the past)
Yet, even so, he has never gotten used to the feeling of incessant boredom as he waited.
I will help you settle everything you need, and ah, show you around
Even though he has witnessed the feeling of grief many, many times.
Azazil IV:
After waving his hands in the air, he detected a large boulder and hid behind it. (There's no need for "around")
His heart slowed down as he waited, dread filling his stomach (no need for "in")
He could almost smell the flames again, feel the heat as it soared to unbelievable heights (not "was")
One good action couldn't make up for all the sins he had committed ("couldn't" fits better)
Dareios IV:
Definitely not. It is certainly interesting, I must say. ("Must" fits better)
Azazil VI:
Today is going to be a very special lesson, Azazil (There's no need for another "today" after "lesson")
Dareios VII:
In Dareios hands were a bundle of baby serpents all eager to get his attention.
General Review:
I love this book and everything it entails.
I highly recommend it to Paranormal, Supernatural, LGBT, thriller and Romance genre/category lovers.
Overall rating: 8/10
