Feb #7 Those Unsaid Words
Hey Candies,
Like I said, it's gonna be a double update.
So first of all, my next review is going to be on Those Unsaid Words by wild_imaginator16
Honestly, poetry is the love of my life.
My literature teacher always encouraged us to show our creative side through poetry.
So without wasting so much time, I'm going to make it know that I wasn't the one that reviewed this particular book...
My good friend in school who happens to be on Wattpad, offered to help me review this book because he loves poetry just as I do....he's very good in poetry, and he offered to help me review this book after I almost blew his ears off, complaining about how I'm not able to keep up with the time I said I'm using to review the books 😪
To be honest, I'm always anxious and worried cause I feel like I'm letting you guys down...*sigh*
I'm honestly going to give it my all...
So with no further ado...shout out to IsowaOConnell for offering to help me review this wonderful poetry book, after I almost blew his ears off 😂
So please please wild_imaginator16 follow IsowaOConnell
Cause the thing I did was re-read your lovely book, edited, typed and gave ratings based on what he wrote to headings that weren't rated...I honestly love your book, it's wonderful...
So the reviewed headings are totally his work and I'm giving him full credit for that...
Analysis:
I genuinely love how each one of these poems carry their own different themes and messages. But the one thing that made me love it more, is the manner you painted each poem like a vivid picture (you did well with the imagery). While reading each of these poems, I could visualise myself being physically present, as well as physically interacting with the surroundings.
One poem I really liked was "Alone". This poem like others in the anthology is not a straight forward story, but rather a step by step description, which allows the readers to truly feel and understand the emotions and situation of the character being talked about.
Truth is, I really enjoyed the experience I had reading each of these poems, and I recommend it to anyone that wants to know how good poetry looks like. I give it 9.5/10
Book Cover:
Apart from the book cover itself, each poem had it's own perfect cover. "Alone" which talks about a girl who is consumed by the loneliness and despair, has the cover of a girl who sits alone on the edge of abeam close to a river, dangling her feet over it as the sun recedes. It's a 8.5/10
Use of figurative expression:
You used a lot of figurative expressions in these poems, especially personification, metaphors, and of course the main gem of your work, imagery. I can tell that as a poet, your use of imagery is very good.
Honestly I like the way your figurative devices blended into your sentences, and added substance to the story itself. It's a 5/5
Grammatical erorrs:
There are some minor errors I spotted...so here they are
The Phoenix:
In stanza 3 line 3
"But her perseverance" instead of "But her perseverance"
In loving memory of Federico De Santis:
Stanza 3 line 2
"That makes people shiver in fear"
But I think
"That made people shiver in fear" would be a better fit because of the use of past tense in the previous line.
"He was a nightmare"
Alone:
Stanza 1 line 5
"Walking, holding hands with smiles on their faces"
I think a comma after "walking" would be better.
General Review:
I think every poet differs from the other, but some poems are undeniably special and I can count more than five poems in this anthology that touched me personally, as a reader and as a fellow poet. I love your work, and I cannot wait to read your next set of poems.
Overall rating: 9.5/10
Hey guys, it's me candy lover... honestly while I was typing this review, editing and giving it a rating apart from the headings already rated, I fell in love with the book all over again
I would totally recommend it to anyone and please give it a try.
