Feb#3 My Beloved
Heyy candies,
Hope y'all good and eating lots of candy...don't let anyone stop you from having as much as you want😂
My next review is going to be on My Beloved by RuthHawthorne
I'm going to be reviewing this book under the following headings.
Character development:
I love the characters and their individual personalities.
I love the fact that you made Elizabeth an Amazon, I love the fact that you made use of flashbacks and so on. The characters were definitely on point. Nothing was rushed, and every character developed at their own pace. I give it a 5/5
General Plot :
Woahhh what can I say?
Honestly this book is SWEET...
I spent all day reading this book, and that's unlike me cause no matter the number of chapters, I usually finish a minimum of 3 books a day.
I wanted to truly understand this book because I just felt the need to connect with it.
I love the fact that you put your emotions down so simply. I felt a tear in my ear when Peter died. Like I was emotionally connected with this book. I know the pain of losing a loved one, and I do not wish it on anyone. This book crept under my skin, and I honestly can't wait for the next update...
I love this book so much, it's just on point.
I'm definitely giving the plot 100/10 and I recommend this book to absolutely anyone.
This book is one of my personal favorite.
Book cover:
It's wonderful, I give it a 4.99/5
Grammatical errors: I noticed that there are some grammatical errors, like you made use of commas alot even where it wasn't needed. You also made use of full stop a lot. It's really good that you used punctuations, like I said earlier many writers forget it's worth. Apart from that, the book is totally on point.
Sooo to avoid wasting time, I'm going to be pointing out the mistakes...
The corrections you need to make are in bold and also in brackets. If you don't understand what I'm trying to say, you can comment and I'll attend to it asap.
Okayy let's go!
Chapter 1:
The sight of the reflection of a sorrowed face, when the moonlight greeted us all.(you omitted the comma after 'Face').
The tale of the Lakshire spirits, that granted wishes to those who had what they desired...(punctuation...comma needed after spirit).
In the howling of the wind, and braches that banged against the window. (I think this would fit better).
Legends that were mere old fables, and those that belonged in children books(I think this would fit much better).
The midday sun blazed up above, as I hauled the bodies of the unknown from the houses of the deceased upon the rotten wooden sleigh(not wooden rotten sleigh, also the punctuation).
Deaths occured everyday, far too much for any of us to handle(comma not full stop).
And imagined a scenery of blooming riches that would perhaps be true, if it wasn't...(punctuation)
Yet nothing but ruined shackles were in the present, for our economy was in shambles (punctuation and there's not meant to be 'for' after shambles)
That bloody scoundrel of a king, Nathaniel Rosae, had...and his blasted damned nobles were no good either; they were all blind to the commoners and bathed in the pleasures. (Use of commas in the wrong place).
I tore my eyes away from the blazing fire, looking down upon my empty Ash stained sleigh, before turning and proceeding with my task.
God above, help me! (Exclamation mark...I think it would make sense better with the mark).
The ruckus and noise were dissipating at this hour of the night, as the...(punctuation)
All that remained of him was an entanglement if limbs... I protested already exasperated.
(I think this fits better)
You look unrecognisable with that shawl wrapped around your face. Fabulous one might think,
perhaps you should wear it less often and get a guy.
One single circular barred window was near the roof (wrong use of commas and order of adjectives)
The flickering yellow tint of the flame lit the shapes of the furniture, and two children... (Punctuation)
The colors muted as the appeared, a shade of grey in the Halo of gold dimmed in the blackness. (I think this would fit better).
Chapter 2:
In the center of it all, upon a cot shuddering in fear as blood splattered upon the blankets, was Clementine. (Wrong use of comma)
She propped herself up on her elbows, and began to crouch...(propped is best used in this context, not "probed")
She righted herself in a sitting position, reaching for that glass of water that stood upon the nightstand, drinking in hope that it would soothe her throbbing throat. (This would fit better)
As she heard the voice of her child, she sought...her red rimmed mouth, smiling and forcing away any pain she felt. (Best used in this context)
"Mama... I'm scared that you might die" (rather than shall)
"There, there dear everything would be alright, I will always be here for you (best used in this context).
Silence settled between them until Elizabeth whispered in the darkness of the room (rather than "amongst" because, there are only two people. So, between is used. More than two...amongst is used)
The previous day, she had told her that her father...(best used in this context)
Some days ago, she had said that her father was a magician travelling the world.(not "the day of that")
Yet the happiness soon ended as her lover loved her no more
(Best used in this context)
The woman should have left him long ago, yet she couldn't help but feel the inkling of hope that her lover would love her like he once did. (There's no need for once upon a time ago after "did")
"Now listen young lady, if I hear this word in my household again, you will be punished (there's no need for once again)
Her hands clasped her chest in hope that she could stop it, stop the inescapable fate..(you used escapable instead of inescapable..this is Best used in this context)
She glanced at her daughter still asleep, and a sob echoed within her (not echoing)
"Don't speak as such, come on now, we have to bid her farewell for she has gone to the afterlife. (You repeated "she has gone" twice)
Only Nitram remained beside the child, honouring a promise he had made to his beloved, to take care of her child when she is gone. (Not "for")
Chapter 3:
As I reached the lit corner, I saw the two youngsters asleep as I had predicted (wrong use of punctuation)
"Very well, but this time you will not disturb me. Do I make myself clear?" ( Not not "no" and take note of my punctuation)
Chapter 4
The snow like pollen that littered the ground due to it being too heavy to fly in the wind.
"What she says is not impossible", said a heavyset man, Iriz. "There were cases in the past as such. (Not pass)
"He was a boy, a boy that I knew" my throat tightened. A boy that now I remember reminds me so much of you.
A few drunkards swayed past, I regarded them beneath my hood...
Chapter 5
No, I only heard about your mother and how she died of hemoptysis (not doed)
"Yes indeed," I grumbled, the faint smell of baked bread engulfed the atmosphere as we...
Chapter 6:
The vindicta could not help every soul in need...(not every in need soul).
Overall review:
I recommend this book to anyone, it's really really good. You're certainly going to get a toothache after reading this😂
Overall rating: 8.99/10

Candy lover🍭✨
