Feb#10 Beyond of Pains and Possibilities

Heyy Candies,
My next review is going to be on "Beyond of Pains and Possibilities" by dwarkaratna. This is one of the reserved books and also one of the last two February entry books. I'm sorry for the late review tho...and so I'm going to be reviewing this book under the following headings

Plot development:
Well the storyline is good and captivating...though I noticed it's slow paced. I get that you're trying to get the reader's rapt attention and also use the device of suspense, which is really good. As a reader I was taken into another world...cause this is my first time reading an Indian book...so as a first timer I must commend the efforts you made at making sure your readers understand each character through the "Character sketches"...I wasn't confused with any character though I must say I was confused with some terms used. After reading the first chapter, I said to myself "hmmm let's see where this is going".
I like the book title, it really complements the book.
I would also like you to finish the book, cause I would like to know why Subhadra went missing...or should I say ran away?

As a reader, I got bored at a point cause it looked like the same daily routine took place...like I would love to see more action, romance, suspense, Charisma on the side of the characters, just name it...well I'm just assuming that the book is just starting and yeah! It's still in it's early stage. Apart from those minor glitches, the plot is good...the setting was also cool...I guess the book is more like a battle between royals, which is nice. So in all I'm giving it a 7/10

Character development:
You made good use of each characters, though some haven't been put in use. I like Renu...I love her resilience and well I can definitely say as a reader that we haven't seen the last of her.
Well Arjun is just there, his role is also good.
I love queen Devika and her children though, they're pretty cute.
Though I would love to see the characters have more charisma...
I would also love to see more drama...like maybe Arjun actually has some alone time with Abisha...cause at least she didn't do anything wrong by having a crush on him, he should actually give her ears...
Then maybe a little feud between Renu and Abisha.
But oh well, you're the writer and you obviously know best...you have the whole story planned out, but I would honestly love to see more drama, suspense, romance and so on
I'm giving it a 7/10

Book cover: The book cover is really nice, it says a lot about the type of book and genre...it's really nice...it's 8/10

Grammatical erorrs:
I noticed a few grammatical errors...you made good use of your full stops, I must commend that you put them in their appropriate places. I didn't note any place you did otherwise.
Like I said earlier, this is my first time reading an Indian book, and so, many terms were quite confusing and unfamiliar...
Like is it Bhlata or Bhrata?
Cause initially you made use of Bhrata, but then you consequently made use of Bhlata...I thought maybe it was a typo...but then I continually saw it. Just wanted to bring your notice to that.
Also, is it Lenu or Renu? As a reader I was actually confused.

Then I noticed you made use of the preposition "to" and omitted the definite article "the" a lot.
Apart from that, the errors are really minor.
Please note that corrections to the errors are in bold and further explanation in brackets.
If you are confused or don't understand something, please draw my attention to it and I would love to be of assistance and clarify doubts you may have.

Character sketch:

Queen Devika, wife of Yudhishthir. Treats her brothers in law as her sons ("her" not "his" and it's "brothers in law" not "brother in laws". It's grammatically incorrect to say brother in laws or sister in laws)

Prologue:
Scene 1:

Will you give me the right to say you are mine officially? (The one in bold fits better)

Arjun asked Subhadra with glittering hope and happiness. ("asked" not "asked to")

Scene 2:

Arjun told himself with moist eyes (not "told to")

Chapter 1: (Festival with suppressed feelings)

Festive season always brings cheerful vibes to tight scheduled life. Doesn't it?
(The question tag "doesn't it" goes better cause the statement doesn't have an auxiliary verb)

An amused voice rang in the air, making her lift her eyes from her work. (This fits better)

Seeming like he doesn't have the confidence to ask the reason straight. (The one in bold is better and can be used as replacement)

You also know that what you're requesting here is wrong ("you're" not "your")

Saying this, she departed from the chamber making him release a heavy sigh

At another chamber:

Thanu has been waiting for your arrival for a long time

A royal man was getting ready in front of a mirror.

"You are now ready, Arya. Now Renu just needs to come" (this fits better)

Devika, the queen of Hastinapur stated, making King Yudhishthir smile as she did. (This fits better)

Renu maa, come, Thanu has been waiting for your arrival for so long ("has been" not "is waiting" is much better in this context and also note the punctuation)

No, Bhrata is lying. Renu maa (I think you misspelled the names)

Queen Devika advised her children, while her children nodded in response (this fits better)

NB: is it Bhlata or Bhrata?. Cause when I initially saw Bhlata I thought maybe you misspelled but then again seeing it all over, I just want to clarify if it's Bhlata or Bhrata?

"Though I will always protect you, I still want you to be self dependent. I hope this gift of mine would initiate and inspire your journey of self dependence. (Please note my punctuations and also the bold words)

Both King Yudhishthir and Queen Devika smiled proudly at their son's thought.

"When will this coldness in our family's relationship end?" (This definitely fits better)

Making Devika lose her attention from her surroundings

Chapter 2: (Reminiscing and Restlessness)

After reaching her chamber, she sat on her bed with a soft thud and began to sob

Stop to have hiccups which were on the verge of making their appearance...(the bold expression fits better)

Flashback:

He stated noticing her engrossed state ("stated" not "started")

Do you think my tolerance capacity is that weak, Renu? (Not "is that much weak")

"Achha! What if a day comes that I stop talking to you?" (This fits better)

After this Statement, they both exchanged smiles

Flashback ended:

Why did you do that?. Because of you, I lost mother's affection... (punctuation and the one in bold)

Then she headed towards the balcony to have a bit alone time.

But her time of solitude was interrupted by a message (this definitely fits better)

Arjun got injured during his venture in Jilly hills

Because they knew after Subhadra's departure he doesn't speak much, as if he dismissed every sound from his surroundings including his own voice (there's meant to be a comma after "much" and the ones in bold would serve as a good substitute)

After the treatment was completed, Nakul got up from his place

Devika's eyes were almost moist as she considered her brothers in law as her sons

Devika said while suppressing the effect of the lump in her throat (this definitely fits better)

Renu who was looking at the floor right from the moment she came in.

When Nakul said this, Renu was the first to move towards the door

Chapter 3: (She won't get welcome from me)

But when she stepped into the practice arena, her face fell (you omitted the comma and there's meant to be a comma before "practice arena")

Instead of curiosity, annoyance sounded from her tone (there's meant to be a comma after "curiosity" and the words in bold fit better)

She wrote a letter to Devi bhabhi to confirm about her decisions regarding administrative issues, as she has been recently coronated as the crowned prince of her kingdom. (There's meant to be a comma after "issues" and "has been" definitely fits better)

Nakul explained to Renu

With that cold statement, Renu left with the kids

I know the reason for your anger Renu, and I can't say you're wrong (the one is bold is better and also take note of the punctuation)

With a heavy sigh, Nakul also left.

Chapter 4: (Two other kingdoms)

Nakul left towards the royal gate where Devika...

She greeted Nakul which he reciprocated (there's no need for "to")

She told Devika after entering into the palace, after which Devika led her towards Arjun's Chambers.

Nakul went to the chamber where Renu was feeding breakfast to Prati and Thanu (No need for "there" before Nakul and the one in bold fits better)

Nakul answered making Renu give a null response

Renu's POV

My sister and I used to stare at...

Renu was about to leave, but suddenly saw Arjun concentrated on the sky (this sentence fits better)

Whom she considers the reason of her sister's absence

She looked at Abisha who was looking at Arjun in the same manner like he was looking at the sky

Contents of the letter

We are searching for Princess Subhadra in every corner of Aryavart

Even not a single sign of her

Like we, others are also searching for her

Even some suspicious activities regards figuring her whereabouts have been found by our spies in the western region

But why? Who must they be?

Chapter 5: (A messenger at court)

After the children finished practice, Renu listened to their lovely narration of their time during practice (this fits better)

Renu told the Kids to go inside and went to the royal court ("go inside" not "went inside" and you omitted the definite article "the")

Has your king totally forgotten about decency?

Before greeting you, I had to shout at this messenger (you omitted a comma after "you" and it's "at" not "on")

Not only Kaling, many other neighbouring states are also summoned (there's meant to be a comma after "Kaling")

But one fact is totally true, that because of Prince Arjun, Kaling had bore the greatest loss.(take note of the use of commas that is punctuation)

Chapter 6: (Flashback to Kaling)

But she didn't want to be affected by that

She didn't find it right to interfere between Renu and her emotions ("interfere between" is more accurate than "interfer in between")

At afternoon, when mild sun rays were torching the floor with timidness, Renu was reminiscing the past events that may have led to today's actions (the sentence would make more sense with the one in bold)

Flashback

Bhadra, how dare you forget royal etiquette?

When his eldest daughter, Princess Subhadra confessed her love ("eldest" not "elder" and there's meant to be a comma after daughter cause "Princess Subhadra" is in apposition to eldest daughter)

You're so clever in applying tricks, making anyone who dares you to back out. That day you brought that condition of war so that jiji would back out. And today also you repeated the same

On the other side

He asked, while making her sit on his lap.

Now everything can be sorted out between you two ("between" not "in-between")

She told what she heard when she went to Renu's chamber.

Arjun understood that she was saying to him not to...(you omitted "to")

Chapter 7: (one among the two)

Renu didn't like Subhadra to give attention and affection to any other child, because she considered that to be her exclusive right.

This isn't any enjoyable ride, Abisha. ("Isn't" not "isn't not"..."isn't not" is grammatically incorrect)

When Renu reached her Chambers, a message was waiting for her at the balcony.

She detached the message from the pigeon's leg and opened it.

Kaling's king shot an accused glare towards his eldest daughter, Subhadra.

It's you who wanted to witness bhrata Arjun's worthiness as a warrior

Everyone had bowed their heads as if they didn't want to look at them.

Like this, they obeyed the order of their king to not give a happy farewell to their princesses (not "to not to give")

It resulted due to my ignorance.

General Review:
This book is good and I recommend it to any Indian book lover or anyone looking to dive into a totally different world/reality
