"Amane," I whispered over to the boy sitting next to me on my storefront couch. We had come to the house, but my parents weren't there. And I didn't even dare go into my room. The other group members were conversing with each other while decorating the large microphones I had in the closet upstairs. They placed many, upon many, stickers on them. "Do you wanna sneak into the kitchen and make some donuts?" I asked excitedly. He had been sitting on the couch silently for the past ten minutes as we just watched our friends talk. We were both suckers for donuts ever since we were little. Thankfully, I knew how to make them.

Amane nodded his head quickly and we snuck past our friends into the kitchen. They were too engrossed in their own conversation to notice us. Things about the plans for the festival. We have to be at school early tomorrow. Amane laughed as we finally were out of their hearing range.

"To be honest, I wasn't even listening to what they were talking about." he laughed out.

"Pffft. all I could think about were donuts. And what a perfect opportunity. am I right?" I giggled. My hands slid over the large bag of flour before I opened it up. "Can you grab the sugar?"

"Hmmm, I could." Amane teased." What do I get?" He sat up on the cooling table for our hard candy. Good thing we clean it before and after we use it. If my dad saw this, he would throw a fit.

I grabbed a bowl from the cabinet and poured a measured amount of flour in. "You get the outcome? I'm pretty sure that's a fair deal." I smiled.

"Well, I was gonna get that anyway." I scoffed at the boy while he used his famous grin.

"Don't get too cocky there. You might not end up with anything at all. I mean- If you didn't want any donuts you should've just said so." I said while grabbing a few eggs from the refrigerator.

He quickly got down from the table and smiled at me nervously. "Where did you say that sugar was?"

I hummed and smiled at him. My hand reached into the flour bag and I flicked some on it on the boy.  Amane's eyes widened in surprise at the flour on his uniform. Though he didn't mind "Oh, you wanna play." he exclaimed

My own eyes widened. What did I just get myself into? Amane crept over to me and held my two hands down with one of his own. His face was so close. And closing in even more. My cheeks immediately burned and I just had to shut my eyes. I could feel his breath over my face. My heart was leaping out of my chest. But instead of what I thought was going to happen, I was met with a friendly head pat. My eyes opened to have my vision clouded with the white dust of flour coming from my head as he patted me.

"You did not jus-" I began but was so rudely interrupted.

"Oh yes, I did. What are you gonna do? Please punish me." He teased. If my heart was not already done with his antics it sure was now. I could've sworn I just died right then and there.

"N-no!" I said. Shaking his hands off of me and covering my flushed face.

"Pity." He complained. I couldn't tell if he was actually disappointed or not. "What are your plans for tomorrow?" He asked me randomly. Despite the situation.

"I was going to wander around the halls tomorrow. Just admire all of the activities." I crouched on the ground and breathed deeply in an attempt to slow my heart.

"It's a festival. You don't just wander. Why not just come with me and Tsukasa?" Amane figured since I was so dense, he would ask me upfront.

"Really? I don't want to ruin your fun." My hands dropped from my face and I turned around, facing the boy. He hovered over me like a tower. Somehow making himself look perfect because his hands rested in his pant pockets.

"How could you ruin anything? You would add to the fun." He grinned while going over to one of the cabinets. I stood up while holding the cloth over my heart.

"What about my clumsiness curse?" I joked. Amane laughed while placing a large bag of sugar onto the counter.

"Then I'll just catch you when you fall. And we will be extra careful." He smiled. I think he knew what effect he had on me. My eyes widened at the boy's words.

"How sweet." I couldn't help but say. It was true. My heart pounded at my chest but my smile was soft.

"Not as sweet as these donuts." Amane laughed. He was happy to know that the girl of his dreams would be beside him on a fun day. He could already imagine what he could do to be closer to me.

My fingers tapped across the screen of my phone. Soon, music started to play. Of course, it wasn't classical. It was the famous song by Uncle Kracker. "Smile." But that wasn't the only one on my playlist.

I started to hum to the song while I mixed the ingredients. I was only making plain donuts today. I wasn't willing to put in the time or effort to make the candy covering. Amane watched me as I made his favorite snack. It was like a puppy waiting for its food. It was cute.

"Down boy." I laughed. "You'll get your donuts soon. I promise."

Amane snapped out of his trance. He didn't realize that he looked like he was waiting so impatiently. He shook his head before laughing out. "Sorry. It's just- it's been a while since I've eaten your donuts. I'm really excited."

"My donuts? They're not that special. Just a family recipe." I admitted as I turned on the fryer and started to shape the dough.

"Hah! Not that special. I beg to differ. I wouldn't want to eat any other." Amane admitted slyly. His hand rested under his chin as he continued to watch. The next song started to play.

"Imagine." By Ariana grande. Not many people like her but some of her songs are great. It was one of my personal favorites. I couldn't help but move along with the music.

I hummed to the lyrics with a goofy smile. I didn't care that Amane was in the room. It was a good song. Plus, I couldn't help it.

"(Y/n)?" My mother called from the front.

"In here mom! Don't mind my friends." I yelled back to her. She stepped into the kitchen and noticed the boy watching the scene unfold.

He didn't dare leave the two alone. He knew what happened yesterday and wanted to make sure the girl he liked was safe.

"Oh? Amane? Nice to see you again." She said as she placed her purse on the counter. The woman's hair was tossed and her outfit did not match at all. She looked like a wreck.

"Likewise Mrs. (L/n). I was helping (Y/n) by making some donuts. Surely you don't mind?" He questioned. It was more of a statement than a question to Amane. It was him basically saying 'I'm not leaving.'

"Of course not. (Y/n), your father will not be staying here anymore." She said flatly. "And I asked your friends if they could help me with the mess in your room. The dough from my hand splashed into the grease, causing some of it to burn my hand.

"(Y-y/n)?!?" Amane rushed over to my side and took the burnt hand in his own and quickly rushed over to the sink to pour cold water over it.

"Oh." Was all I said. I couldn't feel the pain. My wonderful friends had distracted me from reality. Even for just a few hours. It made me happy. But, with my piano and now my family broken, What else could be said.

My mother waited a bit before leaving the room. Amane helped me with the rest of the donuts since my hand started to actually hurt.

"Well, you're the dummy who decided to drop it in! You have to place it in. Like this here. See? See?" Amane said. I pouted at the boy and crossed my arms.

"I know how to make donuts. It was just a silly mistake." I said.

Amane didn't look amused. He placed the last donut onto the plate before grabbing one of the cooled down ones and started too much. "Now I can't hold that hand tomorrow! look what you've done." Amane said disappointed.

My face flushed as I looked over at him. "You were gonna hold my hand?" I asked. Trying to mask the excitement in my voice.

"Yeah. To drag you to all of the activities." He said like I was the dumb one. "Duh."

"Just hold my other one. Then it should be fine. It was only my right hand." I said, hopping off of the counter I was sitting on. I grabbed one of the donuts and started to eat it myself. "Amane..."

The boy hummed in response to curiously.

"Do you wanna maybe walk to school together tomorrow?" I nervously asked as my hands started to fiddle with each other. Amane started to get that my sign of nervousness was to always play with my hands. This time, he stopped my fiddling by placing his hand on my own.

"Sure. Don't forget we have to wake up early. Good thing we can go to our casual clothes right? Nice and comfy. Instead of that school uniform." He removed his hand from mine once it stopped moving and grinned.

"I actually think it looks good on you." My hands fly up to my mouth to try and stop speaking but I failed.

"Oh?" Amane smirked. "So you check me out then?" He teased. I swatted his comment away with a nervous laugh and the flick of my hand.

"Ppppffftt. Ch-check you out? Don't get too ahead of yourself there." I tried to play it off.

"Uh-huh. Suuurrreeee." He laughed.
