"D, A, D...E, F sharp, G... F sharp... E..." I mumbled as my fingers danced across the keys on the Piano. It was a classic piece. I had only just begun to learn it. Every so often while playing, I would steal glances at the notes on the page.
Yashiro waited at the side of the room until I was done playing the piece to grab my attention. She always loved to hear her friend play her happy tunes on the piano. Though, she never interrupted. She didn't want to be rude.
Once I hit the final chord, my shoulders slumped over. "Posture sucks!" I wined. I rubbed my shoulders in slight pain when I heard the soft 'ehem' come from my friend. My head lifted to peak over the piano. Though I have grown over the years with certain factors, height was most certainly not my strong suit.
"What do you need Yashiro?" I smiled at her. She happily skipped her way over to my piano bench and sat down next to me. Others may have felt differently about Yasiro, but I thought her legs were cute. They matched her personality.
"(L/n), Your piano playing is just as sweet as your candy!" she said smiling wide at me. I laughed at her pun. We had gotten into a pun war recently. It had yet to end.
"My keys may sound sweet, but trust me. Our friendship is sweeter! It is as tight as taffy. A never-ending string of sweetness." I laughed out.
Yashiro skimmed her fingers over the keys on the piano as she spoke. "Aoi said she wanted us to walk home together. Is that okay?"
I swiftly grabbed my schoolbag and slung it over my shoulder. "Of course! My parents don't expect me home for another hour though." I mentioned as we walked out of the small piano room.
That room was reserved specifically for me. All I had to do was have one small chat with the school director and I had achieved the key. Like in a video game.
"So earlier today, I ran into this super hot guy! He looked like he was new here. Do you think he could like me?" Yashiro asked eagerly. It was her everyday routine. The first thing she always talked about was boys. She had said it so bluntly yet I was not surprised in the slightest.
"Well, what did he look like?" I asked her.
"Blond curly hair with brown eyes. They're like big dog eyes. They were cute!"
"Dog eyes?" I laughed out. "That's a new one. I was expecting something like, 'They were as brilliant as the sun!" I leaned back as Yashiro lightly hit my shoulder.
"I'm running out of examples. Can you blame me?" She shrugged.
I sighed at the desperate girl. "I guess not." My eyes fell upon the door that I would always look through afterschool. I was not about to break that tradition. I approached the large door and peeked into the window. Yashiro stopped and turned around in confusion at my sudden halt. I scanned through the sea of people in the classroom until I spotted just the one.
He was helping out his brother and some other students by putting up some posters on the wall. I couldn't help but smile. There may be a lot of candy out there, but he was as sweet as they come.
"The captain of the Astronomy club? You still like him?" Yashiro whispered from beside me. My head nodded and I turned to continue walking with Yashiro in tow.
"How could I not? I mean- just look at him. He's basically perfect." I said. Yashiro may have not been the only one to talk about boys first. "His eyes are like the stars themselves. So pretty." I smiled at the thought of the boy. "Plus his hair is as smooth and black as a ravens feather. I'm almost jealous."
"I have to write that one down. That was good." Yashiro took out her phone and began to type up my sentence. I giggled at the girl.
"U-Um excuse me!" Someone had called out to us. We turned around to noticed a boy who was gasping for air. He was wearing the gym uniform with a band tied to his forehead.
"Did you run here?" Yashiro asked. Her hands that were preoccupied with her phone fell to her side.
"Yes, I wanted to make sure to get here fast enough after practice ended." The boy stood up straight with his hands on his hips with confidence. People started to gather around. Already knowing what was about to happen. I could hear their excited whispers and watched as some took their phones out to take videos.
"(L/n)," the boy said. It took a few moments for him to collect his breath. The students passing in the hallway reached the club room doors to tell the others about yet another confession.
"Yes? Do you need anything?" I questioned him. By now, all of the clubs on this hallway were out of their classrooms to observe. To be honest he sounded like she had asthma. Being as he was loud, and took as long as he did. Why was he in a sport then? He was silent while his eyes scanned the crowd of students. Making sure he and I were the center of attention. But then I saw the astronomy club captain and his brother. My hands tightened around my bag under the pressure of so many people looking at me. Especially the pair of bright amber eyes.
The boy walked up to me and took my hands in his. My face began to flush. No one had ever taken physical contact with me. I backed away slightly, Uncomfortable at the sudden contact. I didn't even know him. But the boy had left no space in between us.
The students around gave out a surprised gasp.
"I think you are just absolutely beautiful. Looking at you makes my heart race and fills my day with utter happiness. Hearing your voice reminds me of a bird's song in the bright early morning. So I hope you will accept my heart if I ask you nicely... (L/N) (Y/N), Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked so sincerely. It made it hard for any girl to say no to someone like him if he asked like that. And with all of these people around...My face went into a deep red at all of the sudden compliments.
"Look, It's Akiyama."
"He said he was going to confess to someone today, I just didn't know it was her."
"She's blushing! Do you think she'll say yes after so many?" The people's chatter consumed the room until it fell completely quiet. They were waiting for my answer.
"I'm....I'm sorry. I like someone else..." I said. Backing away from the boy's hold. The crowd fell silent as they watched me with unsurprised eyes.
But the boy didn't like my answer. He roughly grabbed me by the shoulders and stared me down.
"How violent!"
"Should we get a teacher?"
"H-hey! That's not right!" The students yelled at the boy, but it was as if he blocked all of them out.
"You say you like someone else but it could be a joke! Get over him! I'll treat you way better. I won't take no for an answer." His hold on my tightened. Yashiro was trying to pry the boy's hands off of me but he just wouldn't budge. I tried to back away once more but his hold tightened even more. I whimpered out in pain.
"Stop! P-Please let go. You're hurting me." I cried out.
"Not until y-" The boy was interrupted by the small tapping on his shoulder. He looked over to see the sadistic smile of Tsukasa.
Tsukasa cracked his knuckles. He was known in this school by the number of victories he's had in school fights. No one dared challenge him. "I'm in the mood for quite the beat down. Wouldn't you say so too? Amane?"
The boy immediately released his hold on me in fright. He let go with such a force, It was almost like a push. I didn't fall into Yashiro like I had expected. Instead, I fell into the brother himself.
"I don't care. The problem was that he was hurting (L/n)." Amane eased us both onto the floor and I couldn't help but stare into his eyes. They were encapturing. I could look into them forever and die happily. "Are you hurting anymore?" he asked me. I was silent for a few seconds until I realized he was talking to me.
"Oh! Uhm, a little. But it might leave a bruise. That's okay though. Bruises heal right?" I smiled up at the twins.
Tsukasa shook his arms and they fell back down to his sides. The boy had been far gone. "That got me all excited. That's too bad. I would've pummeled him into the ground." He smiled, his little fangs showing.
I giggled nervously at Tsukasa's actions. Sure he saved me from big trouble, but man can he freak someone out easily.
"(L/n) are you okay?" Yashiro asked worriedly. "I tried to chase the guy but he ran too fast. Curse that track team." She hissed.
"Yes, I'm alright. Nothing a few sweets can't fix right?" I smiled, gripping my shoulder to ease the shock from my shoulder.
Amane looked at me with worry still evident in his eyes. "I think we should get you to the nurse's office." His arms try to reach my shoulder to check out the bruises, but I guide his hand back down with my own.
"Don't worry Amane. You need to get back to your club, don't you?" I smiled at him. My heart was jumping in joy at how close he was to me. In all honesty, I was extremely happy he was worried about me.
Amane looked between me and Tsukasa beckoning him to go back to his club duties. He stood up and made sure to help me off the floor too. He held my hands a little while longer than was necessary. But I, of course, didn't mind. He reluctantly let go and started to walk back to his classroom.
"Amane, Tsukasa," I said. Just like that, Both of their heads whipped back to me at the sound of my call.
"Thank you."
The twins smiled at me before going into the room completely.
"You are completely head over heels aren't you?" Yashirso also watched the boys leave. I smiled at her and nodded. I rummaged through my school bag until I found what I was looking for.
"A lemon drop?" Yashiro asked while I placed the small wrapped candy on the windowsill.
"A lemon drop for this sour event." I giggled.
Yashiro looked at the lemon drop. It was meant to be there. As a memento of the newly formed memory. She smiled at her friend as they began walking.
"Aoi should still be in the garden. We can walk home together when we find her. That sounds like a good plan doesn't it?" Yashiro recommended.
I plopped a caramel candy into my mouth and answered her with slightly slurred words due to it. "Yep. Sounds good. You wanna stop by the shop and get some candy? It's on me." We walked out of the school building.
"We have enough candy, thank you." Aoi had said, entering the conversation." I smiled at her. She was carrying a basket full of newly harvested tomatoes.
"There's no such thing as enough candy." I said. "Though, I am surprised I'm not fat. Yet." The wrapper crumbled in my palm and I threw it away at the nearby trash can.
Yashiro and Aoi laughed at my comment. We helped Aoi out with the rest of the harvested foods. Finally, after the long day, we got to go home to rest.
