Today was Monday.
The day I was gonna hand their asses to them.
I had it already planned out and everything. The moment I stepped into that classroom I was gonna tell them what's been really happening.
The three boys left late last night so that they wouldn't get in trouble when they got home. My mom didn't seem to care, she was tired herself. We filled in the void of time by playing some small games. Uno was my personal favorite.
I sighed, gripping onto my school bag tightly. I hadn't told any of my friends about my plan. What are they gonna think? I know for a fact that Nene would cheer me on. But Amane was the thing I was worried about. What's he gonna think? Would he end our relationship with this? No. He didn't seem like that type of person.
I spotted Nene down the street as usual and called her out. I reached out my hand to tap her shoulder for when she turned around, but another hand took hold of mine in mid-air.
"Hmmm (Y/n), you're not cheating on me with Yashiro are you?" The familiar playful voice spoke in my ear. I squeaked a bit when my heart began to beat against my chest. Could he hear it too? His hands snaked around my waist as he gave me a hug from behind.
I couldn't help but smile warmly at him. "No way. I wouldn't trade you for anyone." Amane's eyes glowed down at me before the color of blush rose to his cheeks. He looked away to the floor bashfully at the moment.
Nene stood five feet away from the two of us. Feeling even more down than ever before. Would she always be the third wheel? When would be her time for someone to sweep her off of her own feet? Nene could only sigh in answer. Patience was all she needs right now. But she was running out of it.
"Nene? You look upset. Is something troubling you?" I tugged my way out of Amane's grasp and took my friend's hands in my own.
Nene flushed in embarrassment. She didn't want to seem like anything was troubling her. She didn't want to believe it herself. Her hands flew out of mine as she waved the comment away violently. "NO! I mean- no. There's nothing! I'm all good! Yep! Nothing wrong here!" she exclaimed.
Amane and I exchanged glances before deciding if it was best to not push it. For now, I would just make sure she's okay from afar.
Luckily, when we got to school the teacher hadn't arrived. My feet skipped over to my desk and I fumbled with my phone to the recording app. After I placed my stuff down at my seat, I hopped over and handed my phone to Nene.
She looked at me puzzled at the sudden action and looked down at the screen. When she looked up I was already waltzing my way towards the front of the classroom.
Amane hadn't realized I was there quite yet. He was too busy talking to his soccer friends on the side of the room.
With the simple clear of my throat, I grabbed the attention of most of the males in the classroom. The hushed silence spread over to the rest of the students as they observed my actions. My eyes scanned over the sea of people before pointing at the one and only Amane Yugi.
"I like him." I spoke. I looked over to my grey haired friend and smiled when I saw her holding my phone up, recording. "I don't like anyone else the way I like him. So you can stop with the constant letters and rude remarks about my relations with Amane." Amane's eyes widened at the commotion and Akane patted him on the back with the biggest smirk I had ever seen. He whispered something in Amane's ears that made him nod along. "We don't need that bullshit." The boys in my class gasped at the new profanity coming from my mouth. I wasn't one to cuss much. Only on special occasions. Or when I was mad. In this case, it was both. "Also, for those who don't have the guts to come to us about your qualms, you don't have the right to leave those messages on my desk, or in my locker. How would you feel if someone absolutely hated the fact you are dating someone you've liked for the past two or three years? In my opinion, I don't care about what you have to say. You guys get grossed out about us holding hands in the hallway? How about I confront your parents about what you boys have in your search history?" The girls in my class snickered at my remark before shutting their mouths at the glare the boys were giving them. "And for you girls, do I need to expose you to the type of stuff you say in text messages? I'm not letting him go. You can't persuade me into doing such a blasphemous thing." I bowed in front of the whole class as they eyed me. "That's all I wanted to say. Thank you for your time."
I sighed at the adrenaline release and walked back over to Nene to retrieve my phone. "Thank you. I've been planning that for like, three days." I giggled. She smiled widely before tackling me in a bone-crushing hug.
"You are so awesome! I always thought you were too shy to do something like that." Her red eyes looked up at me and she squeezed me tighter before finally letting go.
I gasped for air and hugged my sides. "I was. I'm just fed up over all of this so I thought of a quick way to make it end." My fingers tapped on the screen of my phone and the video uploaded on all of my social media. "All done!" I squeaked.
"That was really cool (L/n). I could never confront Someone like that." Aoi came up to the both of us and smiled sweetly.
"I'm sure you could. As long as it's someone you really cared about." I nudged my head over to the red head of the classroom who was laughing at the flushed amber-eyed boy in front of him.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to confront Amane about this morning's events because the teacher walked in.
"So if pie equals 3.14 then Y equals..." Our teacher ran on and on about geometry that I've stopped listening to him. Tsukasa tapped his pencil against his desk to grab my attention.
'You've got a certain someone staring at you. I think he may be on drugs.' Tsukasa slid over his notebook. His eyes then popped open and he snatched it back and scribbled down on it some more. 'Either that, or he's lost in thought. I prefer the latter.' I couldn't help but giggle a bit at his words. He's so odd.
I sighed and placed my chin on my hand, writing my own response. 'I don't want to call him out on it. He might get embarrassed.' I nodded along with my words as he read them. He looked up at me with a sparkle in his eyes before writing down some more. He bounced a little in his seat as he looked at me with such excitement.
'DO IT.'
I had to cover my mouth to prevent myself from laughing and disturbing the lesson. I just shook my head and continued on with the day.
The lunch bell rang a couple of hours in. I had yet again forgot my bento. I only had the hard candies in my bag to keep me company. I turned around in my seat to try and see if Amane would eat lunch with me, but he had already run out of the classroom.
I did something wrong didn't I?
Did I embarrass him? Or did I call him out? Or did I make it worse? Millions of questions swam through my mind. He just needed time to think.
"(Y/n)! Do you want to eat lunch with me? It looks like you forgot your food again..." Nene ushered at me. She held her own bento in her hands. It looked like it was another veggie monster box.
"Ehhhh." I eyed the bento. "No thank you Nene. I appreciate the offer though. I think I'm going to go check on the garden to make sure Aoi's flowers don't need watering. She said the class representative had to talk to her so she asked me to do it."
Her hands fell to her sides a bit. I felt bad. She must have been excited. "Oh." she said. My lips pressed together in a thin line. The flowers can wait until after school right?" "Oh...OH CRAP! I forgot something! Sorry (Y/n)! let's eat lunch some other time then, yeah?" Nene began to wave goodbye before I could even ask what was going through her smart little head.
The footsteps of students scattered along the hallway. Every so often I would get a 'look, it's her. Let's go over there.' They didn't want to come near me because of this morning. That's okay. They're not worth it.
The door opened to the outside and I started to grab one of the watering cans to fill it up. I dropped it when I saw Amane sitting on one of the benches playing with some flowers.
Would it be okay if I talked to him?
To hell with it. "Hey." I said, approaching the quiet boy. He looked so invested in what he was doing that he jumped at the sound of my voice.
"(Y/n)! You startled me..." The flowers in his hands fell down to his lap as he went to move the bento beside him. "Here." He said.
"Here?" I questioned. He held up the bento box to me. His eyes held contact with mine with so much sincerity. I tucked a stray hair behind my ear as I sat down.
"You didn't have lunch. So I got you some." He placed it on my lap before dragging his attention to the flowers again.
"Oh...Amane you didn't have to do that. I have candy you know? That could've been my lunch." I opened the bento to see the classic Katsu and tamagoyaki with a small side of fruit. The chopsticks were taped to the bottom of the top.
"Candy isn't healthy for you. You can't just eat it all the time if you didn't have any food. Plus, I wanted to." He looked at me for only a moment before going back to playing with the flowers.
My heart melted. So he didn't leave the class to get away from me? Thank god. Unless-
"All done!" Amane's cheerful voice broke my thoughts and he smiled cheekily at his creation. Before I could take a good look, he placed it on my head. "There we go. Beautiful." He smiled. I felt around and a ring of flowers enveloped my hair. "It's a thank you. For this morning I mean- Tsukasa went out to try and stop all of the pestering but you managed to do it by just saying a couple of words." He closed his eyes and a smile graced his face. "You really are something else aren't you? Maybe an alien from the moon?" he chuckled.
My hand reached into my bag as I began throwing handfuls of cherry candy at him. His laughing stopped as he shielded himself from the flying sweets.
"Hey, HEY! What's up with that?" He asked. He was about to turn his head but when my lips landed on his cheek, his world stopped. I pulled away and gripped his hands in mine.
"You really are too sweet Amane. I meant it this morning. I wouldn't trade you for anything."
