Epilogue

Tris' POV

I lie in bed - not wanting to wake the beautiful man who lays beside me.

It's been ten years... Ten years since we left Chicago and ventured out to our little beach. In some ways: the time has flown by, but in others: each moment's been so perfect that there's nothing else to do but cherish every second of it.

There's thunder outside. I can hear the harsh waves lapping against the dock as the rain hammers against the window.

He sleeps like a log, I think, the only thing that's ever woken him is kisses or cries.

I shiver; pulling the duvet higher round my neck and snuggling in closer to his chest. His grip tightens - now I know that he's awake.

"Tobias," I sing and trail soft kisses down his neck. The faint smile dancing along those beautiful lips of his is evident. "If you're still asleep then I'm just gonna go make breakfast..."

"No," he says and pulls me on top of him.

"Well look who decided to wake up."

"Only for you," he says and gently brushes his lips to mine.

It's strange how the outside world can be so harsh and unforgiving but as long as I'm in his arms, everything is at peace in my world.

"Happy birthday, Tobias." I grin a hop off the bed, earning a frustrated grunt from him.

"Where are you going?" he complains and rolls over to watch me digging through the closet.

I look over my shoulder to see him stretched out across the bed - still naked from last night.

"Tobias," I giggle and hide the small box behind my back, "are you not the slightest bit self-conscious?"

"Why should I be? It's my birthday - might as well wear my birthday-suit."

My eyes reach for the heavens at his comment and I make my way back over to the bed.

"Happy birthday," I say once more and end it with another kiss before handing over the small white box.

"Tris, you shouldn't have," he scolds; trying desperately to hide the smile.

I raise my eyebrows and give him the are-you-kidding-me look. "You won't be saying that after you open it."

"Fine," he grumbles but quickly tears into the package. "You didn't..."

"I did."

He takes a small piece a pops it in his mouth.

"It tastes even better than Dauntless Cake! If that was even possible!"

"See, I told you I can cook."

"Yes, you definitely can." He shovels more cake into his mouth and flops back on the bed. "You realize I'm gonna be asking for this everyday now, right?"

"I don't know..." I tease, "there's only so much cake a girl can handle."

Another loud clap of thunder erupts and the room is lit by the lightning.

"Thank you," he says and pulls me on to his lap. "I love you."

"I love you too."

"I love you three." Here he goes again...

"I love you-"

"Mommy?" Blonde curls and blue eyes poke through the bedroom door. "The rain's scary."

A/N

Hello! I can't believe it's over...

I know that the epilogue was short but I wanted to keep it short and cute. Did I do a good job?

I've got a couple of points that I want to cover right now:

1. Never did I ever, think that I'd have such a supportive bunch of readers. You guys are literally amazing! I just want to hug and thank every-single one of you!

2. Thank you (again) for taking your time to read this. It means the world to me.

3. I don't want to say goodbye but to anyone that's leaving: farewell - you've been a pleasure to write for.

4. If you wanna read another of my twists on our beloved 'Divergent' trilogy then check out 'Call Me Six'

5. If you're interested to see what personal stories inhabit my brain then take a sneaky peak at 'Degenerate' or 'Friendzoned In A Dorm'

6. THANK YOU (it's the last time, I promise) like I've said before, I believe that this is our story because without you lot, none of this would be possible.

As always, I do not own Divergent because my name is not Veronica Roth and I haven't written an amazing trilogy that had one if the most traumatizing endings known to fangirls, ever.
