Chapter 23
Uriah's POV (everyone loves him and if you don't...why not?)
This chapter starts a little before the last one ended.
"Will these do?" Zeke questions whilst chucking me the sterile robes. They're a little large but they will do the job.
"They'll be fine," I say and begin to get into costume.
Once I'm fully dressed, Marlene hands me the small gun which tucks neatly into my belt and the green aerosol can along with my walkie talkie earpiece.
"You know the plan?" She demands an answer before completely letting go of the small firearm.
"Yep," I nod and try to grab the gun but she still clenches it tight.
"Recite it to me then."
I let out a small groan. Why do these people not think I can remember a simple plan?
"Shauna and Zeke are going to Amity to load up the trucks and bring them round the back entrance where they will wait for the signal. Yourself, Al and Lynn are going to get Four and Chris from the observation room. And finally, I, I am going to pull the super hero stunt and perform the main escape act...
"When the doctors go in to give Tris the memory serum, I'll be there, ready to swoop in and save the day with my ninja skills and an aerosol paralytic serum." A grin tugs at my face as I prove to them that I can remember stuff.
"Did you take the inoculation serum yet?" Marlene crosses her arm tightly over her chest as she points out my only flaw.
"No," I mutter, barely audible.
"Dibs!" Lynn shouts before slamming the needle into my shoulder.
"Ouch," I complain and swipe and the inevitable bruise, "violent girl..."
"I try," she smirks.

The small window is rattling and It's easy to assume why - Four's seen my little group of doctors flood into Tris' room. I wonder if he's recognised me yet? I think and pretend to do some doctor-ish stuff so that I blend in more.
I poke at random wires and look back over my shoulder once to make sure that he's still in the room. As expected, the window is still rattling slightly.
Time to put this plan into action... I tap my temple twice before pulling my mask down - the glass stops shaking. The aerosol can is stowed neatly in my pocket so I quickly remove it and let out the serum gas and watch as the doctors flop to the floor. Moving on...
My fingers work quickly at removing the fabric restraints and jacket that tie Tris down to the cot. It's really awkward trying to pick up a floppy body but at least she's extremely light. My left arm holds under her knees tightly as my right holds her shoulder tight to my chest.
Time to go...
It's a quick but windy dash out of Tris' hospital ward so I make it to the designated 'emergency exit' in next to no time.
The truck pulls up and I scramble to place the unconscious girl down in the back seat of Zeke's before climbing in shotgun and striping of the incredibly uncomfortable white robes that stink of bleach.
"Is everyone buckled up?" Zeke sings.
"Dude, I don't-"
"Buckle up." He sends me the biggest death glare and I reluctantly strap in before he pulls away and drives round to meet Shauna who is waiting for Tobias, Chris, Marlene, Lynn and Al by the train tracks at Abnegation. I don't know why they are getting picked up there but Zeke said something about the streets being the easiest to drive through once our getaway was in full swing. I don't really know.
No songs were played on the radio whilst he drove... The only sounds to break through the roaring wind was the hum of the engine as it raced over the Dauntless compound and through Erudite as we approached Abnegation - out destination.
The horn honked once to catch the attention of our fellow driver as we pulled up beside the red truck.
"When's the train?" Zeke spoke and our games became business.
"Two minutes," Shauna replied after glancing down at her watch.
Two minutes... Two minutes of painful silence as the many Stiffs passed us by.
The tracks rattled as the train came speeding down. Four figures dressed in black launched themselves from the karts whilst one remained. Three females, one male.
"Al's not coming," Christina wheezed and climbed onto the bed of our truck whilst Marlene and Lynn pilled into Shauna's.
"What? Why?"
"He didn't say." She shrugged before slapping the warm metal of the running vehicle twice. "Let's get going, the guards were following closely behind."
"Right, this is your last chance to make the same decision as Al, if not, there's no going back." Shauna's engine revved as we all shared silent nods and Four clambered in to the back of our truck where Tris currently lay.
"Let's go then!" I cheered and the vehicles sped off through the streets of Chicago as we headed to our final destination...the great mysteries that awaited us.
"What do you think is out there?"
"Monsters."
