Chapter 20

Tris' POV

"Marcus! Where the fuck are you?! I want to beat the shit out of your stupid, little head right now!" I can't help it... The words just tumble out of my mouth as I storm through the basements of Dauntless.

Everyone else is slowly trailing behind me. I can hear Christina's sobs and wails as she struggles to be freed from Tobias' strong grip and the scratching of Will's heels from where his lifeless body is being dragged by Uriah and Al.

The dead weight of Peter over my shoulders is surprisingly easy to ignore when I'm this focused on finding Marcus and kicking his ass. He's also a lot lighter and shorter than Eric so that also helps.

"Marcus!" I call out for what feels like the hundredth time as I am greeted by a band of light. Upon further inspection, I see that the source of the light is a small window that has been covered up with cardboard but a corner of it's exposed - hence, the light.

"Bingo," I whisper and rest Peter down against the wall.

I shake out the numbness in my arms a click my neck to release the tension as I wait for the others to catch up.

Tobias' POV

Will this girl never grow tired? Christina's been kicking and screaming ever since we left our little holding cell and if she doesn't stop pounding into my back with her fists soon then I swear that I'm gonna drop her on her head.

Eventually, I see Tris up ahead and jog slightly to catch up to her.

"Hey-" I start but Christina shouts louder.

"Put. Me. Down!" She screams and jabs her elbow into my back.

Suddenly the rest of the group come running up and Christina's performance must have startled them because their faces a stricken with worry.

"What's wrong? We heard-"

"Get off of me! Get off! Get off! Get..." Her struggles continue and I wince slightly with every fist that slams into my already tender back.

"Will someone please, shut her up!" Tris orders and suddenly everyone falls silent. "Thank you."

An ear-piercing shriek is let out before the girl over my shoulders begins to sob hysterically. "I- I killed him," she mumbles out between sniffles, "I can't have... Please Will, please, wake up. Wake up, please!"

"Right...that does it." Tris grumbles and starts to rip off the hem of her shirt.

"Tris," I warn, "what are you doing?"

"What does it look like, Tobias?" She snaps and strides round to the back of me.

I feel Christina jerk around and Tris is cussing under her breath as the girl continues to struggle.

"You can't just gag her because she's being annoying!" I scold and sin round so that I'm facing Tris and Christina's head is way from her.

"Yes I can." Her face is dead serious and her arms cross defensively over her chest as she speaks.

"No you can't, she's your friend, Tris."

"Fine," she whines, "I'm gagging her because she's blowing our cover then. Happy now?"

"Happy now? What? No! Blowing our cover? You've been hollering Marcus' name ever since we left that shit hole!"

"This is different, Four!"

I run my free hand through my short hair as I try to think. Reasoning with Tris is never easy...

"If  shuts up, can I take the gag off her?"

"But the gag-"

"Can I?!" I shout, but she still looks at me blankly. "It's a yes or no answer, Tris." She just stares. "You know what? I don't even need to ask your permission about this... You're the one that was going on about human decency," I remove Christina from my shoulders and begin to untie the tattered piece of fabric that is round her mouth, "she just in a state of shock at the moment and gagging her won't help. How would you've liked it if we tied you up on a chain that night at the bar, after your brother died, just because you were being a nuisance - which by the way, you were?" I finish my short rant and Tris nods gently at me.

"Now Christina, I'm gonna let you walk now so don't try to attack me again or scream because we need you to cooperate if we're gonna get out of here any time soon. Okay?" The gag is finally off and she rubs her jaw slightly before nodding.

"Okay."

"Great, then let's get this show on the road." Uriah buts in and rubs his hands together eagerly. "What's the plan then, Trissypoo?"

"Oh, there's no plan, I'm just gonna kill him." Her tone of voice is eerily casual as those blood curdling words leave her lips.

"Excuse me, you're what?" Zeke voices my thoughts and all eyes snap back to Tris.

"I'm. Going to. Kill. Marcus."

"You can't do that."

"Yes I can."

"No you can't."

"Watch me." She hisses and brushes past my shoulder.

Tris' POV

I take a few steps back as a run up before slamming my foot into the door knob. It hangs for a moment on the few splinters of wood before tumbling to the floor.

It's like a blur...

One moment I'm kicking the door in, the next I a predator.

Inside the small concrete room in a wall of computer monitors and a spiral chair is sat in the center.

"Marcus!" My throat unconsciously screams and I charge in.

The desk chair spins and produces me a startled looking Abnegation man, or more commonly known as: Marcus Eaton.

"Bea-"

"Shut it!" I holler and sprint towards him. My fists grab handfuls of his grey robes as I slam him and the chair into the wall of screens. Many of the monitors crackle and turn black due to the collision.

"You a are a sick and twisted man, Mr. Eaton." I hiss as if the words are venom in my mouth.

"I've missed you the-" He starts to say with his sickly smile still plastered onto his face.

"No!" I spin again and the chair crashes into the opposite wall.

Three sprints and a jump is all it takes for me to land on him and topple the chair down to the floor. I have his shoulders pinned down with my knees as my fists punch continuously at his face. "How could you?!" I scream and his beady eyes lock with mine.

He flips us over but I instantly shove the heel of my foot into his gut and we flip again. "How could you kill them?"

He brings a knee up and it hits me in the coxis and I wince at the pain. He tries it again but I shove my elbow into his throat.

He's struggling to breath...I can feel it. His chest rises unevenly as his lungs gasp for air.

"Six people, Marcus. That's how many people have died at your hand." I dig my elbow in further and hold his face in my left hand so that he's forced to look me in the eye. "Tell me, w can your conscience not have kicked in and made you realize that what you're doing is so messed up that only the vilest of creatures have the guts to do it?"

"I don't know, Miss Prior... You tell me," He wheezes and his smirk reappears, "or don't you plan on actually following through with all these death threats that are brewing on the tip of your tongue. You see, you and I, we're alike you know."

"Shut up! I am nothing, nothing like you, Mr. Eaton."

"Oh but dear child, how wrong you are..." His palm closes round my throat and I am lifted up off of him. He stands slowly and presses my neck to the wall before clicking his own and snatching at the much needed air.

"Tell me, Miss Prior, what do you want to do with me?" He taunts and tightens his grip round my throat.

My toes only just skim the floor at the height he holds me and it's making it all the more, harder to breathe. "I want to snap your neck and hear the crunch of your bones as you drop dead to the floor." He smirks and nods slightly. "I want to avenge my family and friends' deaths." He continues to nod. "I want to wipe the universe clean of disgusting beings such as yourself." More nodding. "I want you to feel guilty about what you've done. I want you to taste the blood and know that it's you that spilled it."

By now, tears have started to slide slowly down my face as they hang off my chin.

I'm angry.

I'm sad.

I'm everything right now... All because of this one man.

"I want you to know how it feels, to look someone in the eye and know that they are going to end your life."

It is completely silent for the moments that follow until a low chuckle escapes him. "It's a shame that none of your wishes shall be granted, my dear."

I sniffle once and try to regain my composure. "I know that," I croak out. I can taste the salty tears as they run down my - by now, probably purple - face.

"But tell me, Marcus... How can the selfless, be the most selfish?"

"I don't know, Beatrice... But I'm going to kill you now."

"Ditto," I breathe out, and the show has begun.

I bring my knee up and ram it into his unspeakables before wrapping my own, small hands round his throat.

"This is for my brother!" I wheeze and slam his head into the wall. "My mother and father!" My foot plants neatly into the center of his back. "Eric!" I have him kneeling on the floor. "Peter!" I stand on his calves and pull his head back by his graying hair. "Will!" I'm pretty sure that his nose is broken and his lip is obviously split open from the amount of blood that's pouring from it. "And this is for being an all round dickwad."

"Tris!" Tobias' voice interrupts me as he enters the room.

"Not a good time right now, Tobias." I grumble and readjust my grip on Marcus' jaw and forehead.

"No, Tris...this is a good time. Ask yourself, do you really want to do this?" I look up at him and see that his face is serious so I give him my best 'are you joking' expression before answering.

"Yep."

A/N

Aye! The update that most of you have hopefully been looking forward to! We hit 10k on 7DOTOD!!! (hehe, only just realized it spelled 'dotod')

But it doesn't end there...

As promised, here is a little about what my 'Divergent High' type thing would be like:

Tobias' POV

So there I am, just minding my own business when the freaks I call friends run up to my locker and Uriah starts hyperventilating.

"Dude, dude, dude! You have to check out the new girl, she's smokin', like it's just- There she is!"

And sure enough...there she is.

A girl that arrived on these grounds probably twenty minuets ago at the maximum has already got everyone's attention. She just struts in with her skirt too short, her heels too high and her shirt too low and her blonde hair is flicking perfectly with both Peter and Eric at her sides.

I mean...I'm not complaining, it's just I've seen it all before.

She plants a quick kiss on Eric's cheek before retrieving her purse from Peter and sauntering down the hallway solo.

She continues to strut... Straight. Towards. Me.

"Hey, Four." Her all too familiar voice sings and she leans on Uriah's shoulder. His eyes almost bulge out of his skull as he looks her up and down and mouths something incomprehensible to Zeke.

"Four?" One of my moronic friends question. "Is that some stupid nickname from your old school."

"Oh, I'm sorry, I always seem to do that... It's and inside joke type of thing." She says whilst smiling at Uriah who is now finding it hard to breathe.

"Wait, how do you know each other?" Zeke questions, more to me than the girl.

"She's my ex." I state bluntly but internally groan.

"I'm not just any ex though, right, Four?" She shoots Uriah another smile before her glossy lips continue to talk. "I'm the one you cheated on with FOUR other girls. Hence, the nickname."

Both Zeke and Uriah let out a large puff of breath and I mentally face palm.

"I'm sorry, how rude of me." She gasps and brings her hands up to her chest. "My name's Tris, by the way," She removes herself from Uriah's shoulder and steps closer to me before whispering into my ear, "but you can call me Six."

Soo... What do you think? It's basically going to be about how people get typecasted into their cliche roles (eg. Tobias-heartthrob Tris-slut...) but that's not actually who they are.

If I do write this book then I think I'll probably call it 'Call me Six' but any name suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you liked it then I'll post another teaser for it in the next update!

As always, I don't own Divergent.

P.S.

My auto-correct is being annoying at the moment so if there is any spelling mistakes then... oops, sorry!
