Here is my overall feeling: half glad, half disappointed

Honestly, I don't think you can really pinpoint anyone to blame because a lot of factors played in the downfall of this series.

 Let's go over them one by one, starting with the external factors

-----External factors----

First, we have the JKR criticizing trans people incident

I have voiced my opinion on this but I'll say it again,

Idc what she says. Keep the author and their work separate

If the work doesn't possess anything controversial, I'll enjoy it no matter what people say

So yeah, this is a factor which doesn't affect my opinion personally

Fuck JKR whatever, but her books and works will always be one of my favourite stuff as it is what introduced me to the amazing world of Fantasy

Secondly, Johny Depp getting fired

Now, this affected me because I knew no one else could play Grindelwald as well as Depp did

Also, this made a lot of people leave Warner Bros as well, good riddance

As expected, I didn't really like Grindelwald in the third movie

Dont get me wrong, Mads Mikkelsen is a great actor, but I definitely enjoyed having Depp around more

Thirdly, the Ezra Miller incident

Credence Barebone being played by someone who... I don't even wanna talk about it

This just gave more reason to leave Warner Bros, affecting the HP sequels in turn

-------About the actual movies----

The first movie was amazing

From what I've heard, JKR had a lot of help writing it

As a result it was a masterpiece

The second movie is where the problems started

WHERE ARE THE BEASTS YOU SON OF A BITCH

WHY IS IT SO CONFUSING

DID YOU REALLY THINK A WOMAN WHO WROTE BOOKS IS GONNA BE ABLE TO DO A SCREENWRITING GIG ALL BY HERSELF?!?!?!

SHE'S A BOOKWRITER FOR GOD'S SAKE NOT A GOD WHO CAN WRITE EVERYTHING

Yeah, I really despised the movie

But yk what made me not lose hope for the third movie?

The screenplay

It was an amazing storyline in the screenplay honestly

It would've been better if JKR just wrote a book instead of trying to make a movie script

I'm no film student but I know confusing movies when I see one

Also, please, I thought Newt was the main character...

WHY ARE WE FOCUSING ON DUMBY AND GRINDY HELLOOOO?????

ok I'm getting heated, onto the third movie

So, remember how I complained about Newt not being there?

Well, at least we got a cool opening scene with new creatures and Newtie in action

And we got a pretty funny and cute scene when Theseus was in some sorta underground prison thing

But that's where it ends

As I said, I wanted Depp back

and again... I don't wanna see Albussy getting his Grindick-

Also, we can clearly see that JKR still had the wheel for this even though they called another screenwriter to help her

Istg no one could understand what was going on when Dumby fought his nephew

Anyway, all in all, these movies were a disappointment (except for the first one) imo

But, I can't say I'm glad they're cancelled

Even if Newt wasn't much of a main character later on, I loved watching him interact with his creatures and just be himself

He became my favourite character in the wizarding world

Also, I know I complained a lot about Grindelwald and Dumbedore's relationship being emphasized, but had the title not been 'Fantastic Beasts', making me enter thinking I'll see Newt and his creatures, I think I'd've enjoyed it a lot

Additionally, I was convinced that after this, they'd never let JKR take the wheel again.

Heck, they even scrapped her old sreenplay and called Steve Kloves to make an entirely new one for the third movie

So, I was especially excited for the fourth and fifth movie, if they had continued

And they're not gonna end the series without letting us know what'll happen to the Dumbledore family, Modesty Barebone, Tina and Newt's relationship, Nagini and how she turned into an evil snake, Jacob and Queenie's marriage life in the anti-no-maj magical society of America, right-

Oh wait nevermind, you just did

Fuck you, Warner Bros

So, all in all... my feelings are 50/50

Hopefully, we get good fanfictions about what would've happened because honestly, I believe I'm not the only one who is disappointed the movies are cancelled
