Chapter 17 [2/2]
"I'm really pleased with your performance last week. You had proven yourselves that you can compete with other students here."
Momo couldn't help a happy smile. She glanced at her best friends beside her and saw same smile on their faces.
"And it looks like you got their eyes, JYP Entertainment I mean. This came yesterday."
Momo watched as Principal Kahi put a white envelope on table before them. Principal Kahi gave slight nod and she reached over to take the envelope. Tzuyu and Jeongyeon leaned closer as she opened it. She took a piece of paper out, unfolding it. Her eyes went wider. Tzuyu and Jeongyeon gasped beside her. "This is...invitation..."
"Indie music festival, yes." Principal Kahi said. She took her tea cup and sipped the beverage. "It will be held on mid of January, next year. Not every student get the ticket."
"It means we can go to this Indie festival?" Momo asked.
"No, you will not just go," Principal Kahi answered, putting the cup down on table. "But sing at the festival, as guest."
They once again gasped in surprise.
"As I said, they like you and ask for your performance. What do you say?"
"We will do it," Tzuyu replied quickly. "We will, right?" Momo and Jeongyeon nodded swiftly in agreement. "Please let us do this. We will do our best."
Principal Kahi smiled. "And one more thing, JYP final audition is on March, so this will be your good chance too," she said and they nodded. "Good. Now you can leave."
Tzuyu pulled Principal office door behind first before dragging her two friends toward stairs. They started to jump and scream. "We'll perform our song at Indie music festival, you believe that!? Oh my, it feels like dream."
"It isn't a dream right? Please tell me it's not dream," Momo said while grabbing Tzuyu and Jeongyeon's hand. "AH! Yah! What are you doing?" Momo rubbed her cheek where Jeongyeon had pinched.
"See, you're not dreaming. Indie we're coming!" Jeongyeon shouted.
"Yeaah!"
"What the hell are you doing, screaming here? This is office building."
They lowered their fists down and bowed apologetically. "We're just happy and can't help," Momo said to Jimin. Somehow Jimin's gaze made her nervous. She looked down since he kept staring at her.
"We are really sorry Jimin sunbaenim."
Momo was glad Tzuyu stepped in. She gave another bow, grabbing her friends' arms, and starting to run. They quickly descended stairs.
"Boys, hi, what are you doing here?"
They stopped and turned around. It was group of student council members.
Momo was really happy to see her girlfriend. "We just met Principal Kahi," she replied while keeping gaze at Mina. But the other girl was looking aside. She knitted her brows as she sensed something was different with Mina.
"Let's go, Principal Kahi is waiting for us," Mina said, starting to climb stairs.
"See you around boys," Sana said, following Mina.
Momo opened her mouth to call Mina but couldn't make it. 'Is it just me or she's avoiding me?' Momo could only watch as Mina together with the others ascended stairs. 'She didn't even look at me'
"Haru," Tzuyu called.
"Let's go to library," Jeongyeon said, shifting bag belt up a little. "I haven't done my homework yet."
Tzuyu rolled eyes. "Again? I'll tell Nayeon not to help you. Seriously, you need to do it yourself," she said.
Jeongyeon jutted lower lip out, walking on.
"Haru, what's up?" Tzuyu asked, followin Momo's gaze toward empty stairs. "Is there something wrong?"
"Huh? no it's nothing," Momo replied. "Sorry, let's go." Tzuyu nodded and they left the building. She thought to call Mina again after finish her homework, or perhaps visit Mina's office.
Momo laid her pen, finally she finished her homework. Although she couldn't focus on study but she could manage to finish it. She grabbed her phone and rose from chair.
"Where are you going?" Tzuyu asked.
"Restroom," Momo replied and left.
"Coming too." Jeongyeon stood up but half on the way she was pulled back to her chair.
"No, you're not going anywhere until you finish it," Nayeon said. She shook her head when Kyungwan made pouting face. "No, Kyungwan. Finish it first, or you're not having dinner."
Jeongyeon laid her head on table. "I'm bored. Xiumin help me."
"Sorry, but mine's done," Tzuyu said.
"Fine, let me see," Nayeon finally said. Kyungwan lifted head, grinning. "But this is the last, next time you do it yourself, okay?"
Jeongyeon raised thumbs up. "Okay."
Seeing the two, Tzuyu could only shake head and chuckled. She really wondered why the usually brilliant girl was dense and oblivious to Nayeon's feeling. She didn't need to hear the word to know that Nayeon had feeling toward Jeongyeon. The girl was indeed kind to them, to everyone, but for Jeongyeon it was different. Nayeon would always be there whenever Jeongyeon needed help, although the latter girl never noticed it. She pressed lips together, smiling. Nayeon looked up at her and she put serious face.
"Uh, you guys know about the rumor?"
"Rumor?" Jeongyeon jerked head up at the word.
"No, I don't," Tzuyu replied. "About what?"
Nayeon looked around them before leaning closer. "I don't know if it's true," she said in low voice. They knitted their brows and she continued. "But it starts to spread among students."
"What is it Nayeon?" Jeongyeon asked impatiently.
Nayeon bit her lips. "So, it says," she paused for a breath.
"Mina and Jimin are dating."
"WHAT!?"
"Guys, keep silent." Nayeon pulled the shocked boys down to their chairs. She was glad the librarian didn't notice them, although she had to apologize to other students.
"Wait, you say Mina is dating Jimin? That president boy?" Tzuyu asked after pulling her dropped-down jaw up.
"Not me. It's rumor among students now. But I don't know if it's true or no. I thought she's dating Haru. They are dating, right?"
Tzuyu nodded, folding arms. The news really shocked her.
"What the hell does that mean? Mina is dating that president boy?" Jeongyeon laid her pen down since she had another important thing at moment.
Tzuyu leaned off from backrest. "Wait, that's why she didn't call Haru recently," she mumbled. She looked up at Nayeon and Jeongyeon. "Does Haru know about this?"
"Shit," Jeongyeon cursed, hitting the table with her fist.
"Haru's coming," Nayeon said as Haru returned from restroom. He walked with gaze down at phone. She guessed he must have tried to call Mina.
"Are you okay, dude?" Jeongyeon asked.
Momo narrowed her eyes slightly. "Yeah, I am. What's wrong with you guys, something happened during my absence?" she asked and the three shook their heads. "Well, I'll be at modern music shelves for a while." She knitted her brows as the three nodded at once. Shrugging her shoulders she left toward modern music shelves.
"I'll try to talk with Haru," Tzuyu said and followed after Momo. She just hoped Momo wouldn't let her anger be in control of her. The girl was short-tempered after all. She turned to modern music shelves but someone grabbed her arm, pulling her.
"God, you startled me Sana."
Sana giggled and put a finger over mouth. "We shouldn't make noise here," she said. "So, what are you doing here?"
"Studying of course, what else? Everyone comes here to study."
"Well, I'm here for you."
Tzuyu narrowed her eyes at the grinning girl before her. "I feel dizzy." Sana giggled. The girl suddenly took her arm, pulling her toward corner. "Where are we going?"
"Keep silent or the librarian lady will catch us." Sana winked and pushed him to hide behind bookshelf. "She's coming."
Tzuyu took glance over books and saw the librarian lady walking toward them. Unconsciously she put an arm on Sana's back, pulling her closer. She held her breath, praying that the lady wouldn't see them. She blew out a breath of relief when the lady turned around.
"She's gone, we're safe."
"Yes, we are."
Tzuyu released a breath in relief but once again held her breath. Finally she realized that Sana was leaning on her and she was hugging the girl. She could feel Sana's breath on her skin. It didn't take long for her face to turn red. Sana's lips curled up in small smile and she gulped.
"Ah, you're blushing," Sana teased. "Did I make you nervous?" She put a hand on his waist and the other one on his shoulder.
Tzuyu's heart was thudding uncontrollably that she thought it would explode inside her chest. As her lung longed for oxygen she tried to breathe in.
Sana slowly trailed hand down to Xiumin's chest.
The move finally pulled Tzuyu out from her frozen state. She pushed the girl off and turned to run but Sana caught her wrist.
"You're gonna run again?"
Tzuyu got perplexed by the question.
Sana looked at Xiumin and then released his wrist.
"Sorry, I..." Without finishing her sentence Tzuyu spun on heel. 'For heavenly god's sake Tzuyu, what the hell was wrong with you?' She hurriedly walked toward their table and grabbed her bag.
"How's it? Did you tell him?" Jeongyeon asked, watching as Tzuyu threw her book inside bag. "You're leaving?"
"Sorry, I'm leaving first, forgot something. See you guys at dinner." Without waiting for reply Tzuyu left.
"What happened to him?" Nayeon asked. "He doesn't look well, looks like having fever."
"Oh, I bet the opposite," Jeongyeon said, grinning as she noticed Sana at the other side. "By the way, where's Haru? You think he faint somewhere there?" She glanced over the room, looking for Momo.
"I'll check on him."
Nayeon pulled Kyungwan back to his chair. "Not until you're done," she said and cocked head when Kyungwan looked about to argue. "I will look for him, and you, stay here. You better finish it before I come back. I mean it Yoo Kyungwan."
"Fine, I'm on it. You're scary now you know," Jeongyeon said. She sighed and looked back at her notebook.
Meanwhile, Momo pushed Korean music composer book back into bookshelf. She glanced at her phone for how many times she couldn't remember. Still no call from Mina. After their meeting earlier she was relieved, at least Mina was doing fine. Still it was odd. She then decided to visit president office. She left modern music shelves but surprised to see Kei.
"Kei,"
"Hi, Haru. Studying here?"
"Yes, having homework." Momo offered a smile.
Kei approached Haru and took his arm.
Momo knitted her brows slightly, confused. This was the first time someone else held her arm beside Mina, and it felt strange. But she didn't push the hand away for afraid it would be rude.
"How about we study together? It's been a while, what you say?"
"I'm sorry but I must go."
"You're going somewhere?" Kei kept her hands on the disguised boy's arm.
"Yes, I'm sorry. Maybe next time," Momo replied. She pulled arm off. After offering polite smile, she left the girl. She didn't mean to disappoint the senior girl but she needed to see Mina. She left library, heading to main building. She sent a text to Jeonyeon to take her bag to dining room.
President office light was still on she speeded up, couldn't wait to see Mina.
She jumped onto stairs top, wasting no time walking toward office door. She knocked and put bright smile on face. But her megawatts smile vanished when Jimin showed up.
"What can I help you, new boy?"
Momo rolled eyes mentally. "I want to meet Mina. Is she here?" she asked.
"She is..." Jimin was about to say Mina was going out but the mentioned girl spoke up.
"Jimin, where's my USB?"
Jimin sighed. "On my desk." He pushed door open wider and beckoned Haru to come in.
"Mina, someone wants to meet you."
Momo once again rolled her eyes. 'Is my name a taboo word or something?' But soon she cheered up as she saw her girlfriend.
Mina turned gaze from computer screen and froze for a moment to see Momo. "Can you leave us for moment?" she said to Jimin.
"Okay, see you later."
Momo gave small bow as the president boy passed her. She then looked back at Mina. "Hi, sorry if I interrupt your work."
"It's alright," Mina said. She left her desk. "Have a sit. Is tea okay?"
"Yeah, sure, thanks," Momo said. She approached sofa. She got confused by her girlfriend's attitude. Mina didn't take her arm as she always did.
"Are you okay?"
Mina turned around, tea cups in hands. "Me?" She put a cup on table before Momo before sitting down. "I'm doing fine, but thanks for asking."
Momo once again got confused. Mina took another sofa instead of her next. "You sure? You look, somehow...different."
Mina smiled, sipping her tea. Although at moment she wanted to reach the other girl but she held herself. "Just tired, I guess. I have many things after festival. I'm sorry couldn't answer your calls."
"It's alright, I can understand. But seriously you need to rest too," Momo said, sipping her tea.
'No, it's not alright, Momo' Mina gripped the china and inhaled. "How about you? I heard you got invitation for Indie music festival."
"Yes, I did," Momo said, grinning. "I still can't believe it. I mean, it's Indie music festival. I'm really happy. I thought to tell you."
Mina forced a smile. "I'm really proud of you Haru." Momo smiled widely that she wanted to pinch her cheeks. "But it means you must practice from now. It's a big event, and great opportunity for you."
"Yeah, I know. Don't worry I will practice hard and make you proud," Momo said and winked.
Mina sucked in sharp breath; her chest tightened with every word. She lowered her head couldn't look at Momo's eyes. She had decided to leave the girl, but it was harder than she thought.
"I miss you," Momo said, breaking the silence. She trailed thumbs over cup rim, trying to fight from blushing.
At those three words Mina couldn't hold anymore. She put cup on table and ran to Momo's side.
Momo got confused with the sudden hug. "Mina, what's wrong?"
Mina shook her head, tightening the hug.
"So, I'm not the only one then," Momo said and chuckled when Mina pinched her shoulder.
Mina leaned her head on Momo's shoulder while both hands were wrapping the other girl. She really missed Momo. But she couldn't keep the girl beside her, or Kei would reveal their identity. She never feared anything or anyone before in her life, but now she feared that the girl she was hugging now couldn't reach her dream. No, she didn't fear Kei or anyone. What concerned her was the girl sitting next to her. She would do anything even if she had to break up with Momo.
"Mina?" Momo said. Mina let out small hum and leaned off. 'Is she sad?' She caught it in Mina's eyes before it disappeared when the girl smiled.
"It's dinner time, you should go," Mina said.
"What about you? You don't have dinner?"
"Later, after I finish my work," Mina answered. She pushed blond locks from Momo's forehead.
"You make me worried you know," Momo said, taking Mina's hand, holding it. "Promise you will have your dinner."
Mina pulled her hand and stood up before she couldn't hold herself anymore. "I promise, now you better go."
Momo rose to feet, following her girlfriend toward door. "I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" she said. Mina smiled and she took her leave. But she stopped in front of door, turning around.
Mina was surprised when Momo leaned to kiss her lips.
Momo leaned back, smiling sheepishly. "Good night, Mina."
Mina could only watch as her ex-girlfriend left. 'I'm sorry Momo' She clenched her fists, her chest tightened even more. She leaned against bookshelf, trying not to shed a tear.
"I must say that was really a touching scene."
Mina pushed her fallen hair up with hand and turned around. "What are you doing here?"
"As far as I remember I belong to this place too," Krystal said. She approached sofa and leaned against it instead of sitting.
Mina decided to ignore the president girl. She had no mood for little chat especially with the girl. She took the cups on table.
"Are you thinking to keep it from us forever?"
"I don't think have something to keep from you," Mina replied indifferently.
Krystal huffed, folding arms. "Unfortunately I've known it already." She left sofa, approaching the student representative girl. "I don't know what you're planning to, neither do I care, but I won't keep silent pretending like nothing happens here."
Mina chuckled. "Yes, you care, I know." When Krystal opened her mouth to reply, she added. "That's why you're here, don't you?" She smirked slightly as the girl moved gaze away for moment. She kept her smirk when Krystal glanced at her before leaving the room.
She breathed out a heavy sigh, looking down at the cup Momo had used earlier.
'Momo...'
-
Krystal descended stairs. As her foot stepped on the last step she halted. "You can show yourself, I can see you."
Kei left pillar, approaching the president girl. "Don't worry I'm not thinking to startle you or something," she said. "Just want to know about your meeting with Mina."
"You don't need to worry about that. I know what I'm doing," Krystal said.
Kei curled her lips up in a smile.
"That's good to know."
