Chapter 2
And here's when the regret kicks in! People are actually seeing this and interacting with this it's only been up for a day I'm gonna die-
Pony looked out of the plane window, extremely excited. Neither she nor her brother had ever travelled on a plane before, or at least not that he'd told her. She had noticed that Chizome tended to be very secretive about his life before she was born. She respected it. It wasn't like she had a right to go prying into his business or anything. Besides, if something really was important, he'd tell her, right? Right.
"Hey, so.. we're going to Japan. Right? " Pony asks, looking at her brother, "You already forgot?" He joked, taking his headphones off. "No. But what about the language barrier? I don't know a word of Japanese... "she says, looking down. Was this all going to fall apart before it had even started? How were they going to live in a country when they couldn't communicate with anyone there? "Don't worry, I'm fluent in Japanese. have been since I was like, what, 3? As a matter of fact, English is my second language." Chizome replies. "Wait, what? And you didn't tell me?" She asks, looking back at him, very surprised by this new information. "Well, no. I didn't think it was important. I never thought we were ever going to need to know Japanese." He admitted "Honestly, if you'd sat still for five seconds, I'd have tried to teach you some, but you were too frantic all the time. Though, I guess that's not much of a change," he shrugged, leaning back and closing his eyes. "I mean... yeah... but... Okay, you win this one, but still." The pony huffed and looked out the window, watching the clouds. So how much longer until we're there? She asks, "Kid, we still have like, 10 hours. This isn't a short trip." Chizome sighs. "Oh, right." Pony looks down. This wasn't going to be as much fun as she'd expected.
Her brother put his headphones back on and zoned the hell out because he couldn't be bothered, and Pony looked around. She saw a boy who looked to be about her age in the row of seats across from them. He had blonde hair and blue eyes, and seemed... sparkly. Somehow, If that was a way to describe a person, He looked nervous and was reading a book. Something about him intrigued the pony. It was then that he looked up and saw her looking at him. He smiled and waved slightly, and Pony smiled back. He looked back down at the book, and Pony went back to gazing out the window.
A few days later, Pony and Chizome had started to get accustomed to where they were staying. Pony had been quiet a lot, mostly letting Chizome speak to people, as she didn't know much Japanese. He had been teaching her, granted, but it was certainly not as easy as she'd expected. She could barely hold a simple conversation, though she was trying. He had taught her basic greetings, as he figured those would be important. She now knew how to introduce herself, how to say goodbye, thank you, and you're welcome. That was about it, though.
(I'm learning Japanese myself. I have been for a month, and I only know half of that. As a result,Congratulations, Pony.)
Pony was on her way to UA at the time. They were staying quite close to the school, as close as they could really be, so it wasn't too far of a walk. She was to go to the auditorium, where they would have the entrance exam explained to them. She trotted into the dark room and went and sat up at the back, in a row on her own, hoping people wouldn't sit near her. To her dismay, a tall girl with long green hair sat beside her. Though, upon closer inspection, her hair looked to be in very thick strands. It also seemed like Spiky? Maybe it was in braids? It was hard to tell in the dim light of the large room.
Suddenly, some lights above the stage turned on, revealing a podium and a man with long, yellow hair gelled up in a way that made him look like a cockatoo. There was also a large screen behind him. Pony recognised the man as pro-hero Present Mic. She'd done some research into the teachers at UA and found out that he was the English teacher and also hosted a radio show. He started talking in Japanese, and Pony didn't understand a word of it. The girl beside her must have noticed her confused expression and gently tapped her on the shoulder, "どした?" She asked. Pony recognised this as "what's wrong?" and quietly whispered, "I don't know Japanese. I'm from America." The other girl nodded, "I see. Luckily, I know a decent amount of English. Would you like me to translate for you? " She offered. Pony's eyes lit up. "Oh, yes, thank you so much." She says, "alright. By the way, I'm Ibara Shiozaki. By the way," the vine-haired girl replied, "Pony Akaguro. Nice to meet you."
Soon enough, the introduction was over and everyone was aware of what they were doing, besides Pony. Ibara was having a little trouble translating what Mic had said. They were currently outside the auditorium, trying to figure one of the commands out: "Yes but he said..." "I know he said that, but if you turn that to English, even once you've flipped the words around, it makes no sense!" Pony cut her off, "Ugh! English is stupid. Languages are stupid! Everyone should just speak the same language! " Ibara says, getting quite annoyed. It was then that the pony felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see Present Mic standing there. She froze up, scared she was going to get into trouble before she'd even started at the school. He spoke in Japanese, and Pony looked to Ibara for help. Ibara sighed and told Mic she didn't know Japanese. "Oh! Right! Then you must be Pony Akaguro!I used to know a kid who had the same last name as you. But anyways, I'll take you to where you need to go! Looks like Shiozaki here is in the same place as you too! " He said, well, more like shouted, looking at his phone for the information. "Oh, thank you so much!" Pony replied. And Mic led them off to where the entrance exams would be taking place.
