Pony lay in her bed, staring at the ceiling. Light was pouring in through her curtains, and she could hear the birds chirping outside. She looked at her phone for the time and saw it was 6:52 on a Monday morning. She sighed and sat up, swinging her legs over the side of her bed. She looked around her room; everything was the same. The bookshelf in the corner, the slightly open closet by the door, the anime posters littering the walls, and the toys strewn across the floor. She knew she was getting too old for plush toys, but they were just too cute!
She stood up and walked out of her room into the same apartment she'd been living in for the last 14 years. She stretches and walks to the kitchen, reaching up to one of the cupboards to get some cereal. Then she heard the door unlock and her older brother walk into the apartment. He must have been working late at his job again. "morning!" She called out cheerily, and her brother replied with a huff and a grumble. She giggled slightly and went back to making herself, and now her sibling, some cereal.
She found it funny. She and her brother looked nothing alike. He was tall, with black hair and red eyes. She was short, with blonde hair and blue eyes. But the biggest difference, their quirks, was that Pony's was called "horn cannon." She had two big horns on the top of her head. She could fire them off and they'd immediately grow back. She could control up to three in the air at once after she'd fired them. She also had a mutation. She had horse-like hooves and a short, fluffy tail. She figured that was where she got her name from. Her brother's quirk, however, was called Blood Curdle. By tasting someone's blood, he could paralyse them for anywhere between 2 and 8 minutes, depending on their blood type. He had a small mutation: he had an extremely long tongue. Though that was it. Nothing like his sister's.
Just then, her brother trudged into the room and flopped back on the sofa. "Good morning, Chizome," Pony said, placing his bowl of cereal next to him on the table."You already said that." He grumbled, taking the bowl, "yeah, but you didn't reply properly, so I thought I'd say it again!" She replied, giggling slightly. Chizome just rolled his eyes. It was too early to be dealing with his sister's energy. "Anyways, how did it go?" She asked, sitting down beside him with her legs crossed, "Terrible. I was nearly caught. That's why I was out so long. " He growled out. "Oh.. that's not good. Are you OK? You didn't get hurt, did you? " The small girl asked, concerned for him, "I'm fine. I managed to get away from her. She was sneaky as hell, though. She was moving super fast and I could barely hear her. Hell, I could barely SEE her moving. " He sighed. "Damn cats... honestly.. I'm not taking her on again for a long while, especially not since she'll probably have her guard up now. " He continued. Pony listened intently. She found Chizome's job slightly confusing, though interesting at the same time.
"Well, you're home now. And you're OK. So that's good." She spoke with her mouth full, and Chizome scolded her, "Swallow before you speak; it's impossible to tell what you're saying otherwise. Honestly, kid" He sighed, and she swallowed before sticking her tongue out at him. "Anyway," Chizome glared at her, "You got this in the mail" He handed her a letter he'd put on the table. She looked at it and saw the emblem stamped into the wax seal. "Oh! This is-this is the letter from UA I was waiting on! " She exclaimed. "Wait, really?" Chizome sat up, leaving his slouched posture for once in his life, showing how tall he really was next to his little sister. "Yeah!" Pony replied. She opened the letter and looked at it. She broke out in a smile. "Ok, we've got to go to Japan. They'll cover all our expenses. If I can pass the practical entrance exam, then I'll get in." She reported and Chizome smiled, "Amazing. I know you'll pass with flying colours. " He hugs her tightly and she giggles, hugging him back. Physical affection from him was rare, so she made sure to make the most of it and dragged out the hug a bit longer than she should have done.
Aaaah first proper chapter done! I'm so excited! This is the first book I've started that I'm like- actually excited and looking forward to finishing. Just a warning though, my updates won't be regular. I'm hoping I can do at least one chapter a month though.
