When Jake was younger, he was definitely a party animal. He never passed up an opportunity to go get drunk and stupid.

The Jake you'll run into now doesn't exactly have partying as his top priority, and he makes it extremely obvious that it's been replaced by Adam. His little boy has become his entire world, and is one of only two people who can push him around (the second being his mama).

Still, Jake is as fun and reliable as ever. If you need him, he'll find a way to be there without fail.

Backstory:

Jake was born into a pretty normal family. He was the only child his parents had, which obviously left him open to be extremely spoiled by the family, especially in the early years. When he was three years old, however, his father passed away in a car accident.

That left Jake's mother to raise him almost completely on her own, but she did what she could and most people would agree that she did a fantastic job.

Your character first met Jake in middle school, and the two of you became quick and close friends. By high school, the two of you were dating and it seemed like it was getting pretty serious.

But, at the end of senior year you broke up with him. Jake wanted to go out of state for collage and you didn't think you could handle that kind of long distance relationship.

So Jake left and stopped talking to you, saying that you probably wouldn't be able to handle a long distance friendship either. Even now he'll admit that had been a stupid idea, but at the time Jake was pretty heartbroken.

Which led him to rebound pretty immediately with a girl he met in his English class at collage. Maria seemed nice enough, and she was definitely very pretty.

Jake thought that maybe this time he could have a serious relationship work out, but Maria wasn't too interested in the long term. Like Jake, she loved to party but she tended to go...Too far, while Jake knew when and how to stop.

The male spent a lot of nights taking care of his drunk girlfriend, and a lot of mornings taking care of his hungover girlfriend. It was a lot on him, and made balancing her and school a bit rough, but Jake still managed.

But, about a year into the relationship going like that, Jake ran out of patience and broke up with Maria after getting sufficiently drunk enough to do so without mincing any words.

That, however, made it very easy for Maria to talk him into break up sex, thinking that would make him stick around. It almost worked, but by the end of the week he was once again sure things weren't going to work with them so he once again broke it off.

For about a year and a half, he didn't hear anything from Maria after her initial "take me back" texts and calls. Jake decided to take a break from dating all together and focused on school.

Maria suddenly showed up at his apartment one rainy night, with an almost two year old Adam and a duffle bag with her. She didn't stay for long, maybe only a minute at most. The female announced that Adam was Jake's, and left before either Jake or his roommate could stop her, leaving the child and the duffle bag. There was another man in the car that had brought her, presumably her new boyfriend.

No matter what he tried, Jake couldn't get in contact with Maria after that. A blood test did show that Adam was, in fact, Jake's.

From then on, Jake balanced school, his part time job and Adam. His roommate Luca, thankfully, helped a bit. Though Luca did suggest giving Adam up a few times when it seemed like Jake couldn't handle it. Jake refused, however. He didn't want Adam to have both of his parents abandon him.

Once he graduated, Jake moved back to his hometown with Adam, even getting a puppy. Luckily he was offered a job pretty quickly, and his mother has been more than willing to help out when she can with Adam. She even found him a daycare with somebody she knew Jake would be able to trust. Luca still stops in a bit as well.

A few weeks ago Jake found out Maria died in a plane crash. He hasn't told Adam yet.

Running your own home daycare was honestly one of the best decisions you'd made in your life. You didn't have too many kids under your care, but you didn't mind. You were still making a decent living, and you got to play with kids all day. It was pretty much perfect.

And, you had a new kid joining you today. You'd talked to the grandmother over the phone and the father would be brining him. You couldn't place why, but the grandmother's voice sounded pretty familiar.

All of your other kids showed up first. Most of them were still tired from it being so early, so they were pretty quiet.

Then, you heard the new arrival ring the doorbell. You excitedly made your way over and answered, before you froze.

Jake was standing in the doorway, wearing an awkward smile. In his arms, there was a little boy who looked a lot like him. The little boy looked at you, before hiding his face. Jake looked like he wanted to do the same.
