A week has passed from our nightmare and thank God the sponsors and investors didn't walk away Mr. Parkinson's was always by our side I thank God for him.

People have new gossip to obsess about...

I woke up and found Paul in bed I got up quickly checking the time, it was 7 am I woke him up and he said he's going in at 12 and I let him rest he needs it.

I showered and went downstairs and made him breakfast and left him a saying I'm going to meet Tia, after dropping a few projects at school and pictures at Melai Art Galleries...(MAG).

He hates it when I dress like that but he won't see it till I get back ...I need to do my hair or wash it or braids anything, something.

I started at school dropping off assignments then went to the Gallery to set up the pictures Miss Melai needed, she was very supportive during that weird time and appreciate her a lot.

When I was done I left and met Tia at our favorite restaurant and she was waiting for me

Our waiter came and we placed our orders yes a needed a salad just for today I can't eat but chicken salad and fries are a great combo....then she ordered a chicken salad too.

"Lea is dying in 6 months, and her mother died before her that's why she left she didn't want to hurt him and would rather make him think she left than him actually knowing she passed away "

Just then the waiter came with our food which me both enjoyed and I felt butterflies in my tummy...I needed to be strong for our children.

After that I paid and we left I bought Paul food and went to the office to drop them off.

"Mrs. Marks welcome go right ahead"

"Babe you are heaven sent"

"I just came to drop off the food okay I'm going home"

I didn't even realize that I was crying

"Wait wait what's wrong"

I nodded...if only he knew what I know I pray he forgives me...

I kissed his cheek and drove home.

I got home and wore boxers and t-shirt and just stayed there watching some tv I looked through my pictures Miss Melai needs more in 3 weeks.

I decided to cook for him and when I was done I served it and put it nicely in the oven then went upstairs to shower ...then wore my pj's it was around 8 pm so I called him...

"So sorry babe I'm almost home went to go see my mom and Leah"

"Ok tell me next time I nearly had a heart
attack "

"Awwww someone loves me"

He laughed and hung up a few minutes later he got in and ate then started talking to me about his day....financials and all those stuff really make my head spin I am happy that things are getting back to normal though.

While lying down I fell asleep he kept poking me but I didn't move I pretended I was out like a light but something caught my attention.

After a while, I guess we both fell asleep but got woken up abruptly by some sounds...

Glasses were being broken downstairs and shots were being fired.... wait am I dreaming? Is this a nightmare? Why am I not waking up?

"Babe," Paul said

"There's someone in the house please hide in your closet"

"Melody can you stop being stubborn "

"What if they hurt you "

"I can handle it Melody you're pregnant "

After arguing and realizing we won't go anywhere we both ran downstairs and there he was Jason wearing a black hoodie with black jeans.

"What the fuck Jason" what I failed to see was the small Gun he pointed at us Paul immediately stood in front of me...

"If I can't have her no one will"

"Jason can we talk about this," I said in a shaky voice some people get woken up by kisses and orgasms and today well I got woken up by a psycho with a gun...

"There's nothing to say he wanted you he got you and now you're having his child, I tried to make things easy for you by destroying your stupid legacy and that failed, guess who saved you, Melody"

We stood there looking at him ... he's really crazy I mean bonkers who the hell does this .... he's obsessed with me.

"Move or I'll shoot"

"Paul it's okay"

"No Melody" I saw one of our security men slowly trying to walk in signaling me to keep quiet.

"Paul do you trust me"

"Then let me talk to Jason" I moved from Paul making sure it's not too far...

"I'm here Jason what do you want"

"If I can't have you no one will especially Paul Marks"

He raised his gun pointed it at me then slowly pulled the trigger, everything was in slow motion as 2 bullets shot Paul who ran in front of me so I don't get shot ....he fell down I looked at Jason he's shot too lying on the floor ...in a pool of his own blood.

Mason our security guy is speaking a foreign language I don't know what's going on I'm shaking, crying finally I found my voice...

"Paul ....Paul please"

He's not moving his covered in blood his t-shirt is red from the blood why did he do that...

The paramedic came running in checking on me I'm okay they took Paul and put an IV on him...I hear them saying he has a gunshot wound on his chest ...

We drove in silence when we got to the hospital he's taken to surgery immediately and I sat there covered in the blanket my PJs are covered in blood too ...

I look at the clock in the waiting area and it's 4 am fuck ....I can't call Tia I forgot my phone

Mason isn't leaving my side he saved us he's busy on his phone calling everyone ...

Miss Rosie walked in crying and Mr. Marks is also here I wait in one of the chairs and answer...Miss Rosie

"You need to go get changed Melody and rest we can't stress the baby"

"I know can I just hear what the doctor has to say"

Just then Tia comes running and hugs me she just held me while I cried...

The doctor comes out and starts explaining what's wrong ...in French...

"What would help is if you actually said simple English so we understand how her husband is," Tia said

If I wasn't feeling this way id give her a high five why can't doctors just say things we understand.

"The bullet missed his heart ...you got here on time and he's going to be okay we managed to remove it without damaging his heart ....is that clear enough for you miss"

Tia didn't respond she just rolled her eyes...

After the doctor left I said goodbye to Miss Rosie and Tia said I should go get changed.

She drove me to our house it was a mess so I showered and got a few things and put them in my car she wanted to drive with me but I told her I'm okay so she left and I drove back to the hospital.

I got into his room and sat next to him.

"Babe," he said in a low voice

"Paul thank God you're okay"

"You won't get rid of me that easily"

We laughed and I kissed him ...

"Maybe I should get shot more often"

"Too soon Paul "

"Sorry babe"

I explained what happened, Jason didn't make it...so that case was sorted out.

Paul fell asleep and I sat next to him the nice nurse gave me a bed so I lied on it next to Paul I didn't want to leave him and I'm glad they allowed me to stay.

I feel like I'm learning how to swim in the ocean.... but wave after wave they keep hitting me and I can't even get a moment to catch my breath ...but everything will be okay not now but eventually .....
