Chapter 1-The beginning of a journey (Powerful Magic-Once Upon a Time)
Hey guys. Please ignore the really weird song choice. It was the only song I could find that fit. I just wanted to let you guys know that from now on, all the words that are sung are in italics. I may also alter some of the lyrics to better fit the story or cut the song short. Also, if you have any suggestions for songs (preferably ones from musicals and/or films) that I could include, please let me know either by comments or dms. Please tell me the name of the somg, which musical/ film it's from and which character you think could sing it if you have an idea. I will be adding in some OCs if you are unsure on who should sing. I may also change your suggestion of who sings it and I may not use your suggestion if I don't think it fits but I'll try to use as many as possible. Also, please try not to include a song that swears or mentions anything not PG because I am aware some children may be reading this. However if you do, I might be able to work around it. Thank you in advance. Enjoy the story. I apologise if it's a bit cringy. Future chapters should hopefully be better.
The next morning
Patton woke up on the sofa, where he fell asleep watching the movie last night. Thomas had clearly gone to his room but his best friend Virgil was still there asleep, his head resting on Patton's lap. Smiling, Patton began to run his hand through Virgil's hair as he knew it soothed him.
"Good morning friend!" Patton smiled, whispering into Virgil's ear. However, his voice sounded smooth and almost sung. Gasping, Patton immediately removed his hand from Virgil's hair.
"Oh my dear, there's something wrong
'Cause all my words are coming out in song
A rhthym stirs deep inside my soul
I'm saying things in ways I can't control!" Patton sung, his confusion growing with each word. He slapped his hand over his mouth to stop himself from singing anymore. Why was he just randomly singing with no control? Patton's singing must have woken Virgil up as his eyes slowly opened and he sat up. Stretching out his arms, he yawned but it sounded very sing songy and as if he was singing his yawn.
"Aaaaaaahhhhhhhh" He immediately turned to Patton when he heard his own voice.
"What's going on?
Someone cast a spell or curse?
'Cause what I say is coming out in verse" Virgil's expression seemed just as confused, if not more, that Patton's. Patton slowly removed his hand from his mouth in order to calm Virgil down and bring some light into the situation.
"Your voice just soars" Patton complimented him, hoping it would calm Virgil down, as he rubbed his back soothingly.
"Had no idea it could" Virgil added.
"I'm singing out"
"And my do you sound good" Patton complimented his singing once more, making Virgil blush.
"But why have we just started singing all of a sudden?" Virgil asked. Realising he was no longer singing, he gasped. "It stopped. I'm not singing anymore"
"That's odd" Patton observed, gasping as well. "My voice has returned to normal too!"
"What the heck is going on?" Virgil asked and Patton just shrugged.
"I'm not sure. Let's ask Logan" he suggested and nodding, Virgil jumped off the sofa and head towards Logan's room, Patton following close behind him. When they reached Logan's room, Virgil gestured for Patton to knock on the door for him, which he did. Almost immediately, Logan opened the door.
"Hello Virgil, Patton"
"Hey Lo!" Patton had a warm and friendly smile on his face, attempting to hide his concern and confusion. "We were wondering if you could help us"
"Have you two been bursting into song as well?" He asked in his usual monotone voice.
"Yeah. Do you have any idea why that could be?" Patton asked.
"For the first time I think ever, I'm afraid I am unsure. However, I have a feeling it may have something to do with Roman"
"Well then I guess that's who we'll go and see. Thanks Lo!" Patton turned around and head to Roman's room, Virgil right beside him, but Logan stopped them.
"Wait! I think it may be wise if I assisted you" Logan suggested.
"Sure! You're more than welcome to join us. Let's go!" Logan quickly joined them as they all head to Roman's room, hoping to get a clear answer.
Once again, Patton was the one to knock on the door. They waited a few moments but failed to get a reply so Patton knocked again. "Kiddo, are you in there?" He asked as a tired Roman answered the door. Like the rest if them, he was still in his pyjamas and his hair was a mess.
"Greetings" he yawned. "What brings you three here?"
"Well you see, we've all been bursting into song and we were wondering if you know why" as soon as Patton said this, Roman's eyes widened.
"Shoot. It worked" he muttered.
"What do you mean it worked? Did you do this Princey? If so, undo it now!" Virgil demanded.
"It wasn't me" Roman defended himself.
"Then who was it?" Patton asked.
"Ok please don't hate me but I was battling the Dragon Witch in the Imagination yesterday and she maybe...kinda...sorta cased a curse on all of us" he explained in a squeaky high pitched voice.
"What?!?" The other three gasped.
"Is there some sort of way we can undo it?" Logan queried and Roman nodded.
"Yeah there is a way but it's kinda dangerous"
"Go on"
"Well I stabbed the Dragon Witch in her heart and that's when she cast her curse. She said that in order to reverse it, we had to somehow stop her from dying. Here" he handed Logan the sand timer, the golden sand inside it slowly pouring down. "This is how much time we have before it's too late. About 5 days I think, although probably less now" Roman explained, leaving everyone even more confused than before.
"Hold on. Let me get this straight" Logan said.
"Good luck with that" Roman added.
"So we have to travel through the Imagination, find a way to save the Dragon Witch, find her and save her all whilst being interrupted by singing in just 5 days?" Logan asked and Roman nodded. "Surely there has to another way"
"I'm afraid this is our only option Logan" Roman told him.
"Then we have no time to loose. Let's go!" Roman clicked his fingers and immediately, all four of them were dressed and ready to go. Virgil, Logan and Roman all started to run towards the big golden door leading to the Imagination.
"Wait!" Patton yelled, stopping everyone in their tracks and making them turn to face him.
"What's wrong Pat?" Virgil asked, slight concern tracing his voice.
"Aren't we forgetting someone?" Patton asked.
"No I don't think so. Why? Who are you thinking of?" Roman asked him, confusion spread across his face.
"What about Thomas and Deceit?" Patton asked and the other 3 exchanged awkward glances.
"Well Thomas can't come with us because he's not a side and as for Deceit, it's not exactly wise to bring him along. He may end up causing more harm than good" Logan explained.
"But this effects him too and he's still one of us" Patton protested.
"I'm sorry Patton but it's for the best if he doesn't come with us. Now Let's go" Roman insisted. Him and Logan ran towards the golden door, swinging it open and stepping inside. Virgil was about to follow them when he noticed Patton looking down at the floor, a sad expression across his face.
"What's wrong Patton?" Virgil asked, joining his side and placing his arm around him, providing him with reassurance.
"It's just...I don't think it's fair for us to leave Deceit out. Just because they think he's the villain doesn't mean he deserves to be left out"
"I know Pat but maybe it's for the best. I know what Deceit can be like sometimes so it's best if he stays here. Now come on. He'll be fine. Let's go with the others before it's too late" Gently holding Patton's hand Virgil led him towards the open door but just before they stepped inside, Patton stopped him.
"Virgey, I'm scared" he told him.
"Me too Pat but we have to do this. Besides, we've got eachother" Virgil reassured him.
"I suppose you're right. I love you Virge..." Virgil's face lit up because he had the biggest crush on Patton but was too scared to tell anyone "...platonically" Virgil's face sunk a bit but still tried to stay strong for Patton.
"Me too"
They both took a deep breath in before stepping inside the Imagination, the door slamming behind them. They soon saw Roman and Logan, who had been waiting patiently for them.
"Looks like you two finally decided to come" Roman commented as Virgil and Patton nodded.
"Well Princey, you've been here the most, lead the way" Virgil told him as the four began to walk, Roman in front and the other three close behind, Virgil and Patton refusing to let go of hands. This was the begginning of a journey.
