Chapter 3

I couldn't seem to sleep that night. I stared at the ceiling, hearing Dipper's steady breath bouncing off the walls of the small attic room. I check the clock, it was almost 5 am, and I wasn't even close to tired.
I roll over and sit up, dangling my feet over the side of my bed in the dark attic. There is a small stretch of moonlight peeping brought the triangular window that glares through the room, allowing me to see small specs of dust dance around. Dipper makes a sound, causing me to grip my covers tighter. My heart was beating heavy, the room was so silent it sent a chill up my spine in the hot night. The humidity had risen, causing the air to almost be to thick for my lungs. I was scared, for Dipper mostly but I couldn't shake this feeling that something was going to happen to me too. That whatever was effecting Dipper I could almost see was crawling through the night, hiding in the shadows of the attic waiting for the right moment to-
ACH-OO
I rub my nose, this attic was really dusty. Darn allergies must be clouding my eyes, they felt heavy. I lie back down, the room turning grey as the sun begin to rise over the forest. And soon my eyes became heavy and found there way shut tight.

The morning had a certain fog over it, and I mean literally and technically. It was sorta chilly, and a thick cloud had plague itself onto the town, causing everything to look almost awesome. Meanwhile, I was the only one with partial good spirits. Apparently the Gruncles had a fight over something, Dipper looked like a emo vampire with too much eye makeup under his eyes and even Wendy and Soos seemed to be in a gross mood.
It was totally throwing off my happiness chart.
"Hey Family!" I shout as I lean over the kitchen table after prancing down there in my favorite sweater.
No one answered, all I heard was Grucle Stan's faint coughing in the kitchen and the cracking of bacon on a pan.
I clear my throat flamboyantly and repeat, "Heyyyy FAMILY!"
"Huh?" Dipper says as he almost jumps out of his skin. I hadn't noticed he had fallen asleep on the table and almost fell onto the floor.
"Here." Stan drops the pan onto the table and I can hear it burning the wood under it.
"Uh Gruncle Stan..." I look at him. "Won't this, like, set the house on fire?"
"Who cares!?" Stan throws his hands into the air. "Apparently it's not even MY. HOUSE."
"It's not!" I hear Gruncle Ford's voice muffled as it travels from the gift shop probably.
"Well what do you care you spend all your time IN THE BASEMENT!"
No reply.
I turn around to see Dipper reaching for some bacon with his hands.
"DUDE!" I slack his hand away.
"Huh?" He pulls his hand back quickly and stares at me with wide eyes.
"The pan is hot!" I say as I pass him a fork. "You'll burn your hand off!"
"Oh oops." He sticks the fork in the bacon but he's too tired and weak to even stab it through, and soon he gives up and falls into he floor  asleep.
"I have a feeling this will be a bad bad day." I shrink in my seat, face red. I stare around and soon get up and leave the living room, after throwing a blanket on Dipping Sauce. I walk carefully into the gift shop to see customers customer-ing and Wendy Wendy-ing and Soos sweeping.
"Yo Mabel what's up?" Wendy calls. "How's Dipper?" A few customers look up but most ignore and keep trying to tell their kids to put down the merchandise. I crawl over and sit on the counter.
"He's fine, I think. Just tired and probably sick really. I don't know..." I swing my feet a little and look down.
"Yo dude," Wendy outs her hand on my shoulder. "It'll be okay. I'm sure whatever is up with him, it'll all be okay."
"But it's not just him!" I say a little louder than I probably should, "Stan and Ford and fighting again! Everything is becoming horrible again!"
"Woah dude just chill." Wendy leans on the counter towards me. "Everything will work out."
"I don't want everything to work out!" I say with tears in my eyes. "I want everything o be fine and stay fine forever!"
Wendy sighs as I turn away, "But that's not how life works, it has it's ups and downs and-"
"Excuse me." A random lady comes up with a T shirt. "Can I just buy this?"
Wendy sighs annoyed. "Yeah yeah yeah." She lastly check out the person and I just get up and leave. I see Gruncle Stan rummaging through the fridge when I enter.
"Hey Gruncle Stan..." I say innocently.
"Hm?" The old man turns as he scratches his back in his old, white tank top. "What is it darling?"
"Are you and Gruncle Ford gonna patch things up?" I ask.
"I don't know." He grumbles. "Why?"
"I just..." I sigh and go to leave.
"Do you want us too?" He calls after me.
I nod slowly.
"Then for you," He kneels down to my height and tips his hat, "I'll patch things up."
My eyes light up, "Really?"
He nods, "Yeah sure Pumpkin."
I squeal and rap my arms around his neck. "Yay! Everyone will be happy again!"
"Yep." He pats my back and I run away to tell Dipper. I slid around the corner and dive through the TV room and look into the dining room.
The blanket, chairs and sizzling pan (which had a small fire under it) and table was exactly where i left it, all that was missing was Dipper.
