Chapter 2
We pull up into the parking lot of the doctors office. There were still lights on inside but I got a really big creep-o vibe from just being in the car. Gruncle Stan parked sideways over a bunch of spots including a handicap spot and the spot with the blue lines going diagonally across it.
But right now that didn't matter. He grabbed Dipper and carried him through the atomistic doors quickly. I trailed behind him, watching Dipper as his eyes open slightly.
"Hello sir." A woman chirps from behind the desk, rather happy for someone on a night shift at a creepy hospital, "Welcome to Gravity Falls 24hr hospital. Where the best medicine is whatever we prescribe for you."
Can't argue with that logic.
"Hi my nephew is really sick. Is there a doctor we can see?" For one in his life Gruncle Stan was serious and not being sarcastic.
"Of course. Go down the hall third door on your left." She smiles and points to a well lit hallway a few feet away. We nod and thank her and I trudge down the hallway, close by Gruncle Stan.
"Don't worry kiddo." He smiles at me and ruffles my hair. "He'll be ok."
I sigh but don't respond. I know this wasn't allergies because I would feel the same way but I can't shake the feeling this is something more than what meets the eye.
Something, extra Gravity Falls-ish I guess is what I'm trying to say.
We make it into the hospital room and Dipper sighs as he eyes and climbs on the bed thingy on top of the paper thingy across from the sink with all the other thingys on it.
"Hey Dipping Sause." I smile and hold his hand. "How are you feeling?"
"Elbirret." He stutters his eyes half closed.
"Oh Kay..." I sigh and sit on a chair, gripping the seat so hard my fingers turn red and white.
"Calm down." Gruncle Stan pats my back as the doctor trots in.
"Hello." He smiles and puts down a minis folder with Dipper's real name scribbled across the front.
"Hi." I mumble back.
"What seems to be the problem." He buys the stethoscope on and tells Dipper to lean forward. He does, but still sits hunched over and droopy.
"He's just really sick all of a sudden." I explain.
"Yeah." Gruncle Stan chimes in. "Really tired and weak. And sick and sweaty..."
"Oh you poor thing." The doctor grabs a stick and pricked the back of Dipper's throat with the Cotten-y side.
He did a bunch of test and left for big periods of time. Dipper sat there, spaced out, looking paler and sicker by the minute.
After about twenty minutes the doctor finally came back, twirling his lab coat.
"W-What?" I stutter.
"I don't know how to put this." He sighs and crosses his arms uncomfortably. "There's nothing wrong with him."
"What!?" I jump up.
"He doesn't have a stomach bug or anything really. He is completely fine."
"No!" I shout. "There has to be something wrong with him! That is not how my brother u-"
Gruncle Stan covers my mouth, "any suggestions doc?"
"This could be a mental problem, although it seems unlikely. The sudden sickness could be caused by stress I guess. Although I doubt it, I would still look into it."
I sit on the paper next to Dipper and I give him a hug.
"It's ok Dipper." I whisper in his ear. "Everything will be ok."
He coughs, "I doubt it." I was taken back, when Dipper is usually sick he's active even if it makes him worse. He's always wanted to know what sickness he had Ben if the doctor said he was fine. This... This wasn't him usually.
"Let's go kids." Gruncle Stan leaves, looking sad.
"I wish Ford was here." Dipper mumbles.
Gruncle Stan slaps him over the head.
"HEY STAN!" I shout at him.
"Why'd you do that!?" Dipper snaps, anger pushing away his feeling awful.
"Maybe next time I'll get Ford to take you to the doctors then." Gruncle Stan snaps and begins to leave.
"What I say?" Dipper asks, his face paler than ever.
"Oh," I sigh, he probably didn't even know what he was saying. "Nothing."
The shack was silent when we got back, Dipper wobbles up the stairs and heavenly fell into the bed.
"You sure you're going to be okay? Maybe I could get you an Advil or something-" I offer.
"No really." He chews on his nails. "I'll be fine."
"If you say so." I sight and put on my pajamas. I turn off the light and quietly say good night to Dipper but was already asleep. So I roll over and try to sleep as well.
"I don't know what's going on." I sigh. "But I will help you, Dipper."
