Chapter 2

Sybil sat in her seat as Olivia plastered Sully's picture on their window. Her favorite part of the day with her special coffee and free donuts courtesy of Quinn.

"Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan "Sully" St. James age 32, did two tours in Iraq, was injured saving the lives of his entire unit, a war hero." Abby said as she added more pictures as she talks.

"And not just any war hero the first living marine awarded the medal of honor for action in any war since Vietnam." Stephen added.

"A famous w*r hero, working class, patriotic, comes from a long line of soldiers. Here he is with the president. Also, sexiest man alive 2010." Abby continued before plastering a picture with him and Fitz. Sybil avoided looking at the picture like a plaque.

"Poster boy for the military." Olivia stated while looking at the pictures.

"And for the conservative right. That's how he makes his living. He gives expensive speeches, makes a fortune. He's anti-choice, pro-gun, hates the gays, and likes it when kids pray in school." Abby added on adding more pictures.

" Abby." Stephen pointed out.

"Well, I kind of agree with her. He's a dick." Sybil says as she drinks her coffee. The crew looks at her.

"What?" She stared back before they continued their power point.

"I'm just saying he sickens me politically. I'm not saying we shouldn't help him." Abby defended herself.

Sybil nodded true.

"Who's the dead girlfriend?" Harrison asks as Abby finally plastered the girlfriend up on the window.

"Paige Montgomery 27, rich girl, good family." Abby continued.

" It's on the police scanners as "Girl was found dead in her apartment, three shots to the head." Huck cut on as Sybil said

"Damn. So was it down execution style. Did it look like someone knew what they were doing."

Huck kind of smile at the gangster's daughter. As the rest of the crew stared at her.

"What? If he so pro-gun, it could be him or maybe our professional gunman has a lover that we don't know about." Sybil said crossing her legs.

" Three? That's not an accident." Stephen points out now thinking about what Sybil said.

"Sully called 9-1-1 but took off before the police arrived." Huck added details.

"Why would he run if he wanted to help her.?" Sybil questioned as she now finished her coffee and donuts going to walk to the window sitting on the table. They could tell she had her thinking face on.

"Wait. What are we ... can I ask? What do we do? I mean, if we aren't defense lawyers, we're not the state's attorney, it looks like he did it, so what do we do? What can we do?" Quinn stammers watching them work is insane.

"First we interview Sully." Olivia spoke to them as Sybil was still trying to find the connection.

"I was gonna propose. We were gonna get married. Paige was everything to me. She was my best friend." Sully's voice said as they interviewed him.

("We listen to him. We watch him." Olivia's voice hung in their ears)

"Did you kill her?" Stephen questioned him.

"No. I would never. I loved her." Sully almost pleaded.

"Where'd the blood come from?" Harrison cut in.

("In this moment, we are the judge, and we are the jury, the media and the public opinion." Olivia continued.)

"I went to her apartment, and I found her like that. I held her, but there was, uh, just so much blood, and I-I called the police and I-I-I panicked. I'm on TV, you know, so I didn't know what to do. I thought that they would think that I did it. I panicked. I'm sorry." Sully continued as he tried not to cry.

("This is the moment where we decide who he is." Olivia added)

"Where were you during the murder?" Stephen asked next.

"I walk at night around the neighborhood. I-I was walking, and I stepped into Matty's Pub and I had a beer. And then I kept walking and went to go see Paige." Sully stated.

"Do you own a gun?" Abby continued where Stephen left off.

"Not since I left the military. I just don't believe she's actually gone." Sully says looking at them sadly.

"I vote no. The guy's a fugitive covered in blood. Not once did he question who killed Paige or ask us to find her killer. We all know that's a red flag. He did it." Stephen states.

"Which I told you." Sybil pointed out. She just feels like another piece is missing and then the puzzle will be complete.

"No, I don't think he did. He's a soldier, government-issue trained killing machine. He'd have to be an idiot to get her blood all over himself, call 9-1-1, and then run. But I still vote no. It's a media hand grenade." Harrison says even though disagreed with Sybil and Stephen about him killing Paige.

"I don't want to take it because it's too messy, too much work. And I hate republicans. "Abby added.

"You already know my answer." Sybil stated looking at her cousin.

"My vote always comes down to my gut. My gut tells me everything I need to know." Olivia looked at them as she spoke to them.

"We're taking the case." Olivia concluded.

Sybil rolled her eyes at her cousin. She knew her stubborn cousin was going to still take the case.

"Why do we even bother voting?" Stephen sighs at his boss/friend.

" You're pretty and smart. So pretty, so smart." Olivia joked.

"Next I set the rules." Olivia added after.

"Sybil already gave you a shirt, so you can wait in Stephen's office. You are to stay there. No phone calls: not to work, not to friends, not to press, no one. This is on us now. Your job is to stay in that office and let us do our job." Olivia told Sully.

"Then I warn them. I always warn them." Olivia said as she sent a look over to Sybil who sighed. Of course, Olivia would want her to go with her. She didn't want to be nowhere near that house.

" Have one rule do not lie. You lie, all bets are off. Got it? Now is there anything else you want to tell me?" Olivia told Sully again cautioning him about lying.

" I didn't kill her. She was my best friend. I loved her." Sully repeated again. The gang finally went their separate ways to find the missing puzzle.

Time skip

Sybil stood outside as she listened to Olivia and David bargain over Sully's arrest. Sybil sighs finally that Olivia was out the door before they had to meet up with the guys back at the office. Sybil brought everyone lunch before they went into the office. They ate as they plastered more stuff on the wall.

"We've been here all night. Hey, don't you people ever sleep? Don't any of you have husbands, wives, kids? Lives?" Quinn says to them as Sybil got comfy with a pillow and blanket given to her by Huck.

"No. Gladiators. In suits." Harrison said.

"Here. Here." Sybil said lifting her arms up before slumping on her pillow almost falling asleep.

"We need more." Olivia points out making Sybil groan.

"The guy's alibi is water, bloody clothes, and he's a runner. He killed her." Stephen says as Sybil tried to stay up.

"Definitely killed her." Abby agreed.

"I second that or he has a hidden lover." Sybil groans out.

"There. gun was found on the scene." Olivia said looking for another clue.

"I'll work the cops, find out if there are any fingerprints on the gun." Abby suggested.

"And there. Look at them. Look how he's looking at her. He loves her." Olivia still trying to find more clues.

"A guy in love only kills if he has motive. If he has a motive, we need to find it before the police do." Stephen said to her. Sybil was handed coffee by Huck, before saying thank you drinking it.

"I have to step out. I'll be back. We need more!" Olivia said as she pulled Sybil out her seat as Sybil dropped her coffee down.

"Come on." Olivia pulled her out the door and the crew watched.

"So, what happens now?" Quinn asked.

"She wants more, we get more." Harrison answered back.

Time skip

Sybil now awake from the coffee that Huck gave her and the drive to the park and walk to meet Cyrus Bean. She had met Cyrus when Olivia went to help Govenor now President Grant win his election. She felt that Cyrus was an opportunist and didn't like him like that. When she had interrupted their talk while looking for Olivia. They had concluded that the 27-year-old was a lot smarter than they thought. Maybe from her education or the way she held herself. They had met Cyrus at the Layfette Park. Sybil nodded to Cyrus who nodded back before him, and Livy sat down to talk.

"What?" Olivia stated. She eyed her cousin who sat near the fountain.

"Hi. Hello. How are you?" Cyrus says silently wanting to know why the off handed voice.

"Hi. Hello. How are you? What?" Olivia repeated.

" You working the Sully St. James thing?" Cyrus questioned.

"I'm trying to stamp out the flames. If you guys could refrain from commenting ..." Olivia stated.

"What's your gut say?" Cyrus questioned her.

"He didn't do it." Olivia answered.

"Your gut's never wrong. We'll stay quiet. But keep me in the loop." Cyrus agreed with her.

"What does Sybil say?" Cyrus questioned.

He knew how much Olivia valued Sybil opinion which confused him to an extent. He didn't know much about other then she visited Olivia during the summer.

"She thinks he did it." Olivia answered back now looking at her cousin who was now reading a book she found.

"Mm." Cyrus mumbled.

"You didn't ask me here to talk about Sully St. James." Olivia pointed out.

"He needs a favor." Cyrus finally said.

"I don't work for him anymore. Neither do Sybil." Olivia says.

"Sybil never worked for him. She was your cousin who dragged along with you. Cyrus continued.

Which was true, Sybil never worked for him. She just went everywhere her cousin went. That didn't stop Olivia from introducing her to the president who her cousin felled for. When she found out about the two of them, she was very disappointed in her cousin. To be with the most powerful man when your father is a King pin was crazy on her part.

"He trusts you. and I guess he trust Sybil as well. " Cyrus comments.

" I don't work for him anymore." Olivia repeated.

"And yet you came when I called." Cyrus tried not to smile at his accomplishment.

" What?" Olivia repeated that word again as she wanted Cyrus to speed up the conversation.

" There's a girl, an aide, going around saying she's sleeping with him." Crus stated.

" Is she?" Olivia questioned.

Olivia thought back to her cousin. Him and her cousin is basically in love with each other which Sybil don't like to announce out loud. She knew she was going to have to tell her about this nonsense after her and Cyrus talk.

"Liv." Cyrus caution.

"Bill Clinton, Monica Lewinsky. John Edwards, Rielle Hunter. Is she?" Olivia questioned again.

"No. You know him. He's not that guy. I need you to shut her down." Cyrus said again.

Olivia wanted to say yeah, I do know him, but I don't believe you. He was fucking my cousin under all of our nose. But she kept her mouth shut before speaking again.

"I need to see him. Sybil and I need to see him." Olivia said knowing Sybil will be so angry at her.

" Liv, that's not possible." Cyrus told her.

"You want me to shut her down? Then I need to look him in the eye and know he's not lying." Olivia said as her mind said Sybil.

Sybil could make him fold in a instinct but Cyrus didn't know that.

"He's not ... Look, the man's schedule is insane. He has no time to see you." Cyrus kept making excuses.

Olivia knew not to have Sybil over here. She would've laughed in Cyrus's face. He wanted her to use her connections but wouldn't let him meet her. Cyrus was back to his old game again.

"He wants the favor. He wants my services. I do not work for him anymore, so you tell the President of the United States to make time." Olivia the conversation before walking away as Sybil and her walked away.
