CHAPTER SIX, glory & glee clubs

(delaney's outfit for the first part of the chapter)

Delaney and Finn leaned against the counter by where Trish sat on the counter when Ally walked into the store, looking worried. Dez stood nearby while Austin sat on a chair, playing on an acoustic guitar. "Trish, Delaney, we have a Glee Club emergency. Our tenor, Lenny, was chased by a dog, fell off his bike, and broke his leg. And our beat boxer guy is moving to England."

"That's not good." Delaney frowns. "So now we need two more members."

"Oh, great!" Trish excitedly comments, jumping off the counter. "That means we don't have to rehearse today. Man, dogs really are man's best friend and it's lucky that guy is moving to England. I wish I was moving to England so I don't have to rehearse anymore." Trish complained.

"Trish." Finn warns. "Not exactly the nicest thing to say right now."

"Yeah, Finn is right!" Ally agrees. "Have some sympathy."

"Yeah, poor Lenny's probably gonna be on crutches for six weeks." Dez chimed in.

"I mean sympathy for me." Ally said worriedly. "Without a tenor and beatboxer, there's no way we'll win next week's competition. We might end up in..." She takes a deep breath, looking fearful. "Second place."

"Second place isn't bad." Finn comments, trying to reassure her. He takes a step back looking intimidated when Ally glared at him. "Okay, maybe it is."

"Finn's right." Austin speaks up. He smiles. "Second place still qualifies you for regionals."

Ally laughs and  shakes her head. "Oh, but second place is not winning." She grumbles. "Second place means you're a loser."

"Hey, I come in second place all the time." Dez interjects. "Would you guys call me a loser?"

His friends stayed silent for a few moments, staring at him. "Do you really want me to answer that?" Trish asked.

Dez inhales sharply and cringes. "Probably not."

"I have to fix this. I'm the captain." Ally continues. "When there's a problem, the whole club looks to me to be calm, cool, and collected."

"And you totally look like that right now." Delaney chuckled. She grimaced, moving back to hide behind Finley at the harsh look Ally sent her.

"Maybe they should look somewhere else." Austin retorted, earning a glare from Ally. He quickly went back to playing the guitar, looking nervous.

"I see what's going on." Dez nods, smiling as he puts his hand on his hip. "She's afflicted with a rare condition called 'acapella persperitis'. better known as..." He jumps then does jazz hands. "'Glee fever'! I kind of have a touch of it myself, but I'll never get cured since I didn't get picked to be in Glee Club." He dropped his head in defeat, walking away sadly. Delaney and Finley glanced at him with sympathy.

"I'd give you my spot if I didn't need the extra credits." Trish shrugs. She uses air quotations when she said dangerous. "I tried wood shop, but apparently it's 'dangerous' to fall asleep while operating a buzz saw."

Delaney's eyes widen and she shares a shocked look with Finley. "Uh, yeah, Trish. It's very dangerous." Delaney told her. Trish just rolled her eyes and waved a dismissive hand.

"Focus, we need to find a last minute replacement for Lenny and our beatboxer." Ally tells her. "He needs to be a strong singer who can learn fast. And the other one has to, of course, know how to beatbox."

Dez shrugs. "Where are you gonna find that?" He then starts singing in a tenor voice. "She'll be coming around the mountain when she comes-"

"Dez! Shh." Trish interrupted him.

Ally's eyes lit up when she thought of an idea. "Oh!"

"Please don't be me." Finn muttered under his breath repeatedly.

Ally turns to Finn with a grin. He cringes as she faces him. He had a feeling he knew what she wanted from him. "No. Absolutely no way."

"Come on!" Ally pleads. "You're a great beatboxer and we really need one. A beatboxer is very important in glee club."

"You know I don't like glee clubs." Finn tells her, but he was starting to cave in when she gave him puppy dog eyes. "Okay, fine." He grumbled.

"Yes!" Ally cheers, hugging him. "Thank you!"

"Yeah, whatever." Finn mumbled, hugging her back. He looked like he was annoyed, but there was a small smile on his face.

"You also need someone with charisma and good dance moves." Austin chimed in as Ally and Finley pulled away. His friends nodded in agreement.

"Who do we know?" Ally inquired.

Delaney raises her eyebrows, smiling in amusement when Dez started dancing, ending up on his knees. Everyone in the store who watched him clapped for him. "Gosh, what's wrong with us?" Ally said in realization, smiling at Trish. "We already know the perfect person."

"Of course." Trish agrees. "He's been right in front of us the whole time."

Dez stands up, looking excited. "Ally, it would be my honor."

"Austin!" Ally walks around Dez, going to where Austin sat. "You should be in Glee Club."

Dez frowns. "Sorry, buddy." Delaney apologized, patting his shoulder to comfort him. She knew how badly he wanted to be in Glee Club and she felt bad for him.

Austin shrugs and smiles at Ally. "Why not? Since you can't find anyone else."

(delaney's outfit for this part of the chapter)

At Glee Club practice, Austin and Finley both wince when suddenly the coach blows a whistle. Neither of them expected the whistle while the rest of the Glee Club were used to it. "Hustle up, B-Sharps." Coach Simmons, who was in charge of Glee Club, guides the two boys over to the others who stand on the risers. "Say hi to your new teammates, Finley and pop star Austin Moon."

Everyone smiled and waved at them. A girl in a pink dress runs over to Austin excitedly, taking a hold of his arm which startled him. "Hi, I'm Elle and single."

"Okay, Elle, might wanna back off." Delaney chimes in, for some reason feeling a pang of jealousy. "Don't wanna scare off our new members."

"Right, sorry." Elle apologized sheepishly smiling as she took a step back.

Austin turns around, looking at a boy by him who was staring at him excitedly. "You're Austin Moon." He whispers. "I can't believe you're talking to me."

"Huh?" Austin furrowed his eyebrows with confusion. He could barely hear what the boy was saying.

Then Sun Hee steps down with an amused smile, speaking in Korean. "'He's shyer than a naked sheep on the first day of sheep school'."  Delaney laughs in agreement and smiles at her. "Yeah, you're right." She spoke and then translated it to Sun Hee who then shared a smile with her. She was the only one in Glee Club who understood what Sun Hee said. It was a perk of learning Korean for fun because now she was fluent in it and she could help translate what Sun Hee said to the others.

Austin slowly nods, still looking confused but smiles. "Oh. Okay." He glances at Finley with confusion. "You understand anything she said?"

"Nope. I was hoping you did." Finn replied, looking confused as well.

"Wait, Laney, you know what she said?" Austin looked back at Delaney with surprised when he realized she knew what Sun Hee said.

"Of course." Delaney smiles. "I speak Korean fluently."

Austin raises his eyebrows with surprise. "Really? I didn't know that." He was honestly a bit upset Delaney hadn't told him that before.

Delaney nods. "Yeah, I learned it when I moved to New York."

He smiles, nodding in realization. "Oh, that's cool." He turns around, glancing at a emo looking girl who had a purple streak in her hair, noticing she was looking at him. He smiles nervously. "Hi. I'm-"

"Just so you know, I'm not a fan." She interrupts him in a rude tone. 'I hate pop music and popcorn, and soda pop. Anything with a pop in it." She then walked away, leaving a confused and slightly intimidated Austin.

"Nice to meet you too?" Austin said with confusion.

"That's B.B." Ally chimes in. "She hates everything."

"And everyone." Delaney added and Ally nodded in agreement.

"Why is she in Glee Club?" Austin asked.

"Yeah, if she hates everything then wouldn't she hate the club?" Finley raised his eyebrows.

"She hates not being in Glee Club." Ally replied and the boys nodded in realization.

"Austin and Finn are really gonna help our club. Austin's 6'1, one hundred and seventy, has a five octave range, and he bench presses one hundred seventy-five pounds. Finn's 5'9, one hundred and seventy four, beatboxes, and he bench presses one hundred and seventy." Coach Simmons explained.

"Why is any of that important?" Finley questioned, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Yeah, what does that have to do with Glee Club?" Austin inquired.

"He's also the wrestling coach." Trish explains. "He loves music and headlocks." Coach Simmons nodded and smiled in response.

Elle walks over to stand by Austin, staring dreamingly at him. "You're so strong. And cute. Did I mention I was single?"

"Elle." Delaney said in a warning tone.

"Back off, Elle." Coach Simmons chimes in. Elle nods and moves away from Austin. Coach  Simmons smiles at the two boys. "Austin, Finn, welcome to the team."

"Glee Clubs aren't really my thing, but I guess it doesn't hurt to try something new." Finley shrugged with a small smile.

"Happy to be here, coach." Austin smiles. He glances at his friends, his gaze locking with Delaney longer than what he should have probably and her heart fluttered at the smile he gave her. "I love preforming with my friends."

Dez walks by, sweeping the gym, looking sad. "Hmm. With some of your friends." Delaney sent him a sympathetic smile. She knew he was still upset not being in the Glee Club, but there was nothing she could do about it.

"Okay, I'm gonna turn over our rehearsal to our captain." Coach Simmons points at Ally. He smiles at the group. "What's our motto?"

"Be strong, be loud, b-sharp!" The Glee Club shouted in unison.

Coach Simmons points at Miles. "I didn't hear you, Miles."

Miles looks nervous as he tries again a bit louder but still in a whisper voice. "Be strong, be loud, b-sharp."

Coach Simmons nods. "We'll work on that." He commented before leaving the gym.

"Okay," Ally claps her hands, facing the group with a smile. "Line up for 'heartbeat'." As everyone began to take their place, Ally looks at Austin and Finley with a smile. "Oh, Guys. I'll show you your part."

"We already know." Finn smiled.

Austin nods in agreement with a smile. "Yeah, Dez taught us the routines during lunch."

Dez walks over to Ally with a smile. "They got most of it down, but I still think that a kick-step would work better than a twirl."

"Uh, thanks, Dez." Ally smiles and shrugs. "But I'm the captain and you're not on the team. You wouldn't want me sweeping up the gym floor, would you?"

"Kinda." Dez replied before he walked away.

Ally plays her harmonica to get the right melody down for everyone. The group then started singing an acapella version of 'heart beat' which was a song that Austin had sang. The version of this song was much slower than the upbeat original version of the song. Delaney honestly didn't like how slow they sang it, but with Ally as the captain she couldn't do anything about it. She knew Ally liked more old fashioned.

Ally smiles from ear to ear, clapping when the group was done. "Bravo, people. Bravo. That was perfect."

Trish grins. "Great. Now we can go home."

"No way." Ally said, stopping Trish from walking off the risers. "Rehearsal's just starting." She glances at Austin. "Austin, you sounded great. Just more smiling next time."

"Cool." Austin nods. He smiles. "And I was thinking we could make a few changes to the routine since it's a little old-fashioned." Everyone gasped, shocked that he said that to Ally.

Sun-Hi waved her index finger around in a 'no' gesture, staring at Austin with shock while she spoke. Delaney nods in response. "Oh, yes he did." She spoke, knowing Sun-Hi said 'oh no, he didn't'.

"Old-fashioned?" Ally chuckles, raising her eyebrows. "I wouldn't call it that."

"And this is where things get bad." Finn muttered. He knew that Ally didn't like it when she couldn't have things her way and when people tried changing things.

"Maybe 'traditional', but that's what judges look for." Ally smiled. She played a note on the harmonica again to signal the group to start singing, but Austin kept talking.

"Okay, bad choice of words." Austin jumps down from the risers. "What I meant was, we should rock things up. Make it a little edgier." He smiled.

"Oh." Ally grins, shimming her shoulders and swaying her hips. "You want to add a little shaky-shaky-boom-boom?"

Her friends stared at her with shock. "Yeah, that's not what I meant." Austin replied.

"I hope not." Trish shakes her head. "I never want to see that again."

"I think you speak for all of us." Delaney cut in.

"It was just a thought. Keep your mind open." Austin suggested.

"Trust me." Ally reassures him. "I know what I'm doing. There's no way we'll lose this competition."

****

Delaney follows the rest of the Glee Club into the store with a heavy sigh. "Well, look at that. We lost." She remarked.

"I can't believe we lost that competition." Ally frowned, throwing the trophy she held in a nearby trash can. Delaney raised her eyebrows when she noticed Elle standing close by Austin again, staring dreamingly at the blonde, and once again she felt that pang of jealousy.

"But the important thing is that we participated." Trish smiles, walking over to Ally while holding a clipboard. "That's all I'm required to do to get my credit. Ally, can you initial this?" Ally sent her an offended look.

Dez picks the trophy out of the trash can. "And it's cool that you got a trophy that'll prove to your mom five years of singing lessons weren't a waste of money."  He smiles at the trophy. "I'm keeping this." He held it close to him and walked away.

Austin walks over to the counter where Ally stood behind it. "Hey, at least we qualified for regionals. Next time we just need to do dance moves people have heard of."

Ally chuckles. "Who hasn't heard of the Charleston and the Lindy hop?"

The whole Glee Club raises their hands in response. "What if we did cooler dance moves to a new song arrangement?" Austin smiles. He backs up from the counter and did a dance move to show what he was talking about, singing the song 'heart beat' in the original upbeat version. "I can get your heart, beat beat beat beating like. I can get your heart, beat beating like that."

"Whoo!" Elle comments, fanning herself with her hand as she smiles widely. "My heart's beating like that." Delaney had to admit so was hers but she wouldn't say that out loud. Elle stands by Austin, linking her arm with his. "I vote we do it his way." Delaney rolled her eyes, thinking, of course you do

"Okay." Ally said, looking nervous. "There's no voting because I'm the captain. And that's not what acapella is about," She turns to look at Sun Hee, who stood behind her by the counter. "Right, Sun Hee?"

Sun Hee smiles nervously and speaks in her language, "I'll follow you blindly just to get a good grade no matter how wrong you are." Delaney couldn't help the snicker that left her lips, causing Ally to look at her nervously.

"What? What did she say?"

"Let's just say she said that she'll go along with you. That's all you need to focus on." Delaney smiled and Ally smiled.

"Ally, I know how important this is to you." Austin tells Ally. "That's why I'm making suggestions. I want you to win."

Ally tilts her head to the side, chuckling. "Are you sure it's not because you're a famous pop star and think you know better than the captain of the Glee Club?" She asked, walking around the counter to stand in front of Austin.

Austin shakes his head. "I didn't say that, but come on. I do know a few things. I've performed on a lot more stages than you."

Sun Hee waves her index finger around in a 'no' gesture, putting emphasis on the word 'oh' she said sassily. Dez walks over to Austin and Ally. "Guys, let's not fight. We're losing focus of the real issue." He puts both his hands on their shoulders. "I should be on the team."

"Sorry, bud." Delaney apologized.

Trish nods. "Not gonna happen, Dez." Dez sighs in defeat and walks away. Trish walks over to Ally. "Look, Ally, I don't want to upset you, but I kind of agree with Austin." Austin smiled while Ally pretended to look okay when she clearly was hurt.

Ally scoffs. "I'm not upset. why would I be upset that two of my best friends are stabbing me in the back?"

"Oh, phew." Trish sighs in relief, not noticing Ally was pretending to be fine. "I thought you were gonna be upset."

"Ally," Delaney chimes in, walking over to her with a small smile. "I know you don't like change much, but maybe for the sake of winning regionals we should change it up a bit and go with Austin's way. I mean, did you see how many other Glee Clubs had much more upbeat songs than ours? One of them even beat us so I think it would be best if we did that way instead."

"And now three of my best friends are stabbing me in the back." Ally frowns. "Trish, if you,  Mr. and Miss Superstar stage performer know so much, why don't you three start your own Glee Club?" She asked challengingly.

The trio exchange a glance before looking at Ally with a shrug. "Maybe we will." Austin replied.

Austin glances at the rest of the Glee Club, outstretching his arms. "Who's with us?"

"Me!" Elle excitedly responds, rushing over to him. "I'm with you." She hugs his arm again. "In sickness and in health. I do." Delaney narrowed her eyes at her, crossing her arms. Finley noticed this, raising his eyebrows at her and an amused smile formed on his lips when he realized she was jealous. Delaney sent him a glare, quietly telling him to shut it and he raised his hands in defense.

Austin looks uncomfortable but he nods and glances at Ally nervously. "Okay. Elle's joining my team. And scaring me."

Ally walks over to Miles with a smile. "Who do you choose, Miles?"

"Austin." Miles whispered sheepishly.

"What?" Ally furrowed her eyebrows.

"Austin." Miles whispered again.

"What?" Before Miles spoke again, Ally just shakes her head. "Oh, just take him." Miles smiled and walked over to stand by the trio and Elle.

Sun Hee walks over to the group with a smile. "Before I choose, I'd like to hear pros and cons from both sides." She spoke in Korean.

"Good idea, Sun Hee." Delaney nodded with a smile, speaking what she said in Chinese so Sun Hee understood and Sun Hee smiled at her.

"Oh, man." Austin sighs in defeat. "She picked you." He said, glancing at Ally, who smiled.

"Yes!" Ally cheered.

"Uh, not exactly." Delaney cringed.

Ally walks over to B.B. "what about you, B.B?"

"I hate the way you run things, I hate your Glee fever, I even hate your hair." B.B. answers with a blank expression. Ally frowns, touching her hair.

Austin smirks. "So it looks like she's with me." He then high fived Trish and Delaney.

"Oh, no. I'm staying with Ally." B.B. tells him. "I hate change even more."

Ally grins, walking back over to stand in front of Austin with a smirk. "Ha!" She glances at Finn with a puppy dog eyed look. "Finn?"

"You don't even have to ask." Finn chuckles. He would literally do anything for her. He blames the secret crush he had on her. "So put those puppy dog eyes away."

"And this is is why you're my favorite." Ally smiled brightly at him, her eyes lighting up. Finley grinned back at her, looking away to hide the light shade of pink that formed on his face.

"You guys sure you want to break up?" Dez inquires. "You've been partners forever, you've been friends forever."

"I don't wanna work with them." Ally replied.

"And I don't wanna work with her." Austin remarked.

"Me neither." Trish agreed.

"I honestly don't care." Delaney admitted.

"Yeah, same." Finn nodded in agreement.

"You do realize that only one Glee Club can represent our school at regionals?" Dez reminded the group.

Austin crosses his arms. "Well, I guess we know what that means."

"Yep. Let the acapella war begin." Ally smirks. "Or should I say," She then sings in a slow but beautiful tone, "Let the acapella war begin."

Austin shakes his head. "It should have gone," In an upbeat tone, Austin sings the same thing. "Let the acapella war begin, begin..." He backs up to stand next to the members of the Glee Club who joined his team, pausing for a moment before he awkwardly continued. "Begin!" Then the group left the store.

(delaney's outfit for this part of the chapter)

It was now the next day at school and the two Glee Clubs were separated at practice. Dez had joined Ally's team since now she didn't have enough members. The two teams stood across from each other in the school gym. Ally faces her group with a smile. "Okay, B-Sharps, forget those wannabes. Time to rehearse."

"You better if you want to beat 'looking for treble'." Austin speaks up, crossing his arms as his team did the same. Ally tilts her head to the side and Austin grins. "It's a cool name, huh?"

"Can you tell he came up with it?" Delaney chuckled lightly, smiling at the blonde. She found it cute how proud of himself he was of the name.

"No. It's lame." Ally replies to Austin with a scoff. She's quiet for a few moments before she says in defeat, "Okay, fine, it's cool. But we're still gonna beat you." She points at Austin with a glare in her eyes as she stands in front of him. "I hope you didn't eat too much lunch, 'cause you're about to get served."

"Oh, yeah?" Austin challenges. "Well, tell the janitors he can take some time off. 'Cause we're gonna mop the floor with you."

"Just stay on your side of the gym." Ally rolled her eyes, walking back over to her team.

Austin turns to face his team with a smile. "Alright, Trebles, let's warm up." He starts singing, but then his team joins him half way through. "I can feel your heart beat beat beat beating like that."

Ally chuckles. "Look at those rookies. They're like children." She turns to her team with a smile. "Now let's do our warm-ups. Row row row your boat." Then her team sang the next verse slowly like she did. "Gently down the stream."

Austin gets his phone out, pretending he got a call. He then points at her. "Ally, it's for you. It's the 1800s. They want their song back." He put his phone away, laughing along with his team.

"Well, I just got a text from the future. It says you lost the competition 'cause your whole team stinks." Ally retorts. "Lol, frowny face!" She turned to her team, excepting them to back her up but they all just shook their heads at her causing her to frown.

"There's no way we're gonna lose the competition. Austin and Delaney know what it takes to win." Trish smiled.

"Yeah, I live in the present, I'm all about today." Austin sang.

"I sing about the past when folks had something real to say." Ally remarked.

"Oh, snap!" Dez sassily said. "It's a musical throwdown." He pauses and cringes. "Oops. I mean," He then sings what he said slower. "Oh, snap it's a musical throwdown." Then Austin and Ally circled each other as they sang back and forth in their own ways.

"Let me be me 'cause my way is cool. I'm not ashamed, call me old-school.

"Say what you want, my style will rule. Keeping it fresh, call me new school.

"Old school." Ally spoke.

"New school." Austin argued.

This time, Ally's team joins her with saying, "Old school."

"New school." Austin and his team spoke. Soon the two teams are arguing with each other which one is better than the other until the coach stormed into the gym, blowing his whistle which stopped the arguing.

Delaney winces, stepping away from Finn who she had been arguing with. "Man, I think that whistle gets louder each time."

"It's so annoying." Finley complained.

"What's going on here?" Coach Simmons demands. He walks over to Austin and Ally. "Hey, if you two want to fight, there's a wrestling mat in the corner. I got ten bucks on Ally." Austin looks at him with offense. "Sorry, Moon. She looks scrappy." Ally smirked in response.

"I can't work with her, Coach." Austin informed him.

"And I can't work with him." Ally added and then the two teens started talking over each other.

"Enough!" Coach Simmons shouts, causing them to grow quiet. "Austin and Ally, you're both out of Glee Club."

Delaney's eyes widen, surprised at what he said. "Well, I didn't see that coming." Finn shook his head in agreement, staring at Coach with shock. He glanced at Ally with sympathy, he knew how important Glee Club was to her.

Ally stares at Coach Simmons with shock and then panic. "You can't do this. Glee Club is my life."

"Mine too." Austin chimed in.

Ally glares at him. "You've been in Glee Club four days."

Austin points at Miles. "Trying to get Miles to sing loudly feels like a lifetime."

Miles nods, whispering, "He's right."

"Well, you both should have thought of that before you started this whole mess." Coach Simmons said. "Now get out of here."

Sun Hee steps forward with an excited smile, pointing forward. "I would like to apply to be captain."

"You heard Sun Hee. Get out." Coach Simmons ordered.

Delaney smiles sympathetically at Sun Hee. "Sorry, Sun Hee. I don't think that's gonna happen." She then translated what she said to her in her language so Sun Hee knew what she said. Sun Hee nodded in understanding but she frowned.

"I can't believe you two are leaving." Delaney frowned at her friends as Coach left the gym.

"I'm sorry, guys." Trish apologizes. "But you know what we have to do."

"It's tradition." Dez adds. "Go, go, go away."

"We'll miss you when you're gone." Trish continued.

Then the rest of the Glee Club sings, "Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, the Glee Club must go on." Then they all point at the door. It was a tradition in the Glee Club when a member left they sang this song. After seeing the sad looks on Austin's sand Ally's faces, Delaney sent a sympathetic look them, feeling bad that they were kicked out, but there was nothing she could do to help them.

Elle steps in front of Austin, stopping him from leaving. She makes a call gesture, mouthing to him. "Call me." Before she stepped back by the others and pointed at the door.

****

Later that day at practice, Ally was mopping the floor. "Stop, stop, stop!" Dez shouted, stopping the group from continuing to sing. Yeah, now he's the team captain. Delaney wasn't even sure how he got to be the team captain, but so far he was getting on her nerves.

"What's wrong now?" Trish asked in annoyance.

"You've been stopping us each time we sing something." Delaney rolled her eyes.

"Uh, everything is wrong." Dez answers sassily. "We need to find new costumes, tighten our harmonies, get matching haircuts."

"No, no, and no." Finn immediately said, earning nods of agreement from the rest of the team.

"I hate that he's the new captain." B.B. commented.

"Yeah," Delaney sighs heavily. "We all do."

"I miss Austin." Elle frowns. "This is the longest we've ever been apart."

Delaney narrows her eyes at Elle. "You and Austin aren't together, I hope you know that."

"I hate Glee Club now." Miles sadly whispered.

"I have never heard Miles so upset." Trish points him. She steps off the risers, walking over to Dez. "This is all your fault, Dez. Who made you captain anyway?"

"Yeah, I don't remember voting at all." Delaney interjected.

"If anyone should be the captain now it should be Delaney since she has more experience being on stage than any of us." Finn cut in.

"Well, he who holds the pitch pipe has the power." Dez spoke, holding out the pitch pipe. Trish goes to grab it but he holds it close to him out of her reach. He grinned.

"I wish he'd swallow that pitch pipe." Sun Hee spoke in her language in a sad tone.

"At this point, I also wish he'd swallow that pitch pipe." Delaney voiced and then translated what she said to Sun Hee. She nodded in agreement, earning an offended look from Dez after he heard what Delaney said.

"Let's try this again." Dez suggests. "Everyone watch me."  He then does a kick-step. "Kick-step, kick-step, spin, make a face. Flip your hair, hot sand, hot sand, and superhero!"

Everyone stares at him in disbelief. Dez turns to face Trish with his hands on his hips. "Alright, Trish. Now you try."

"Yeah, that's not gonna happen." Trish responded before walking back on the risers.

"Dez, I have an idea." Ally spoke up.

"Ally, please, I don't come over there and tell you how to sweep the floor." Dez tells her. "But just so you know, you missed a spot." He cringed and pushed the mop Ally held to get the spot she missed, earning an annoyed look from Ally.

"Just promise me the B-Sharps will win regionals." Ally pleads. She smiles. "I might not be in Glee Club, but it's still a part of my life."

Dez smiles. "Aw, that's so sweet." He shrugs, shaking his head. "But we're not the B-Sharps anymore." He waves his hands in front of his face and smiles widely. "We're the Dez-tones."

"I don't remember any of us agreeing to that name." Finley chimed in, earning a nod of agreements from the rest of the Glee Club.

"Whatever your name is, just win." Ally continues. "You're my only hope."

Dez puts a hand on her shoulder and smiles at her before he turns to face the group. "Fi,e six, seven, eight. Kick-step, kick-step..."

****

"Is it bad I'm at the point where I wanna quit Glee Club?" Delaney asks as she walked into the break room Austin was in at Sonic Boom. The dark-skinned girl sighs and plops down on the piano bench beside him. "Like, it's getting worse and worse by the second. Dez is trying to change everything in the club and it's starting to get really annoying. I'm surprised Trish hasn't slapped him yet. I'm so close to slapping him myself."

Austin laughs, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "That bad, huh?" She nods her head, leaning into is side and sighing heavily. "I'm sorry, Lanes. It'll get better though, you know that."

"Don't get me wrong, he's great and all, but he's awful at captain." Delaney grumbles, taking a seat beside him. "I miss you and Ally being in Glee Club."

"I miss being in Glee Club too." Austin admitted with a small smile.

"So if you miss it so much, will you come back?" Delaney asks hopefully and gave him her best puppy dog eye look. "Pretty please with a cherry on top?"

Austin laughs. "Nice try, Laney." He muses, his hand on her shoulder giving it a gentle squeeze. "But I don't know." He sighed, shaking his head.

"Come on, I know you and Ally have your differences, but we really need you both to win regionals." Delaney insists, frowning at him. "Austie, please."

He looks at her and she gives him a puppy dog eye look again. He groans dramatically and leans his head on her shoulder. "Fine, just stop with the puppy dog eyes."

She grins and kisses the top of his head. "You're the best, you know that right?"

He rolls his eyes playfully. "Yeah, I know."

"Thank you, blondie." Delaney said softly and pulled him in for a side hug.

"Anything for you, Laney." He responded, smiling softly at her.

(delaney's outfit for the rest of the chapter)

Soon it was the night of regionals. Austin and Delaney started out the songs (which were a mashup of songs Austin had preformed on stage) as the others were the backup singers at first. When it was over, the audience cheered and clapped for them while confetti fell from the ceiling.

Back at Sonic Boom the six best friends walk into the store excitedly as Ally held the first place trophy the Glee Club won. "You got your trophy!" Austin smiles at Ally. "You did it."

Ally smiles. "We did it. This belongs to all of us."

"You should keep it." Trish tells her with a soft smile. "It means the most to you."

Dez nods in agreement. "Yeah, we don't care about the trophy." He grins. "Just getting to be on the team was its own reward."

"Tell you what, I'll keep this on the counter so we can all enjoy it." Ally suggested.

Everyone nodded and voiced their words of agreement. Then they all went their separate ways except for Delaney and Finn. They exchange a glance. "How much you wanna bet they're gonna come back to try and steal it?" Delaney asked with an amused smile.

Finn laughs. "They wouldn't do that, would they?"

And as if on cue, the four teens all ran to the trophy shouting that they want it. "Called it." Delaney grinned. With her elbow rested on Finn's shoulder, the two of them watched in amusement as the other four teens fought over the trophy, breaking it in the end.

"You guys can have it." Austin shrugged, throwing the broken piece he held on the counter.

"It's yours." Ally put her broken piece on the counter.

"I don't want it." Trish chimed in, setting his broken piece down. Dez threw his broken piece on the counter and the four of them walked away

"Wanna get ice cream?" Delaney asked glancing at Finley with a smile.

"I'm always down for ice cream." Finn grinned and followed her out of the store.

A/N okay but delaney's & finn's friendship >>>> & ooh delaney is getting a lil bit jealous, might be starting to realize her feelings for austin :)
