CHAPTER ONE, same city name not same airport

(delaney's outfit for this chapter is above)

Delaney missed Miami for many reasons. The sunny days, the beach, her dad, her friends, and her family's antique shop. Her family's antique shop is called 'Things of Beauty'. Her mom, Delia, loved antiques and was the one to start the shop in the first place. Delaney got her love of antiques from her mom. Delaney often helped out at her mom's shop. She loved the fact that the shop had a warm and welcoming feel to it. And having extra cash never hurt.

Delia thought antiques possessed a charm that can't be found in modern-day items. And it was exciting to discover something rare and stunning that sometimes has a historical background to it. Plus some antiques weren't that expensive. In her shop she had antiques that we're some of her own she decided to sell, some she got from other antiques that no one was buying in that area, and some antiques from family and friends that didn't want them anymore.

Sawyer loved antiques as well and always saw the beauty in them even if they looked broken or old. That's something he and his wife had in common. Music is something else he and his wife had in common. Sawyer has a gift of being able to play the piano, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar. Delia was the singer. She had a voice like an angel and Sawyer always said that Delaney reminded him just like her mom with her beautiful singing voice.

As each day went by the more Delaney was starting to realize how much she misses Austin. Her aunt and uncle owns a bookstore that Delaney sometimes helped out with while being in New York. They had caught her countless of times hugging onto a random customer.

"Honey," Delaney's aunt and Sawyer's younger sister, Violet, speaks to her husband. She walks over to the man behind the front counter, looking at their niece with concern. A sigh left her lips as she watched Delaney hug onto a random customer. "She's doing it again."

Jesse, Delaney's uncle, glances at Delaney with an amused smile and chuckles. "Yeah. I guess someone misses Austin."

"Um, are you okay?" The blonde-haired boy Delaney was hugging on asks. He looks at the dark-skinned girl with a bit of concern. "I just came in here for a book. Wasn't expecting to be getting a hug from the pretty girl who works here."

It was at that moment did Delaney realize she wasn't hugging Austin which made her heart ache. She blushed embarrassingly and quickly let go of him. "Yes, yeah. Sorry." She apologizes, locking eyes with the green-eyed boy. She had to admit, he did look pretty cute. And he was a boy who reads. Those are rare to find. If she didn't have feelings for Austin she would most likely be trying to be friends with this boy. "I'm really sorry about that." Delaney sends the boy an apologetic smile. "I just thought you were someone else.

"It's alright." The boy assured her.

"I'll, uh, let you get back to looking for a book." Delaney awkwardly smiles at him and waved before she turned around. She mentally scolds herself as she walked over to stand by her aunt and uncle behind the front counter.  She groans, turning to face her aunt and uncle. "Why do I keep embarrassing myself?"

"Because you miss Austin so much," Violet replies. "And you think everyone you see is him."

Delaney scoffs, shaking her head. "No, I don't."

"Delivery."

Delaney glances at the door of the bookstore, blinking a few times since the mailman looked exactly like Austin. She took her glasses off she wore since she was basically blind without them and rubbed her eyes before putting her glasses back on. She sighed upon seeing that the delivery man wasn't really Austin.

"Okay, yeah," She caves in, glancing at her aunt and uncle. Her eyes widen when she sees they both look like Austin. "I miss Austin. A lot." She confesses. "But I mean, I miss a lot of things and people back in Miami."

"Delaney, it's completely normal for you to miss a guy like Austin." Jesse points out. "I mean, the guy is your best friend. You grew up with him."

"Not helping, Uncle Jesse." She frowned.

"Have you talked to him recently?" Jesse asked her as Violet went to get the delivery from the mailman

"Yeah. He has been keeping me updated on where he's at on his tour." A smile tugs on Delaney's lips. "He even sent me a few pictures of some of the places he, Dez, and Trish went sightseeing." She bites her lower lip, fiddling with the end sleeve of the denim jacket she wore. "He does still try to ask me if it's possible to join him on tour."

"That's sweet of him." Jesse smiles. "But maybe you should," He shrugs, pretending to think for a few moments. "I don't know, join him on tour."

"In my dreams." Delaney scoffs. "The only way that could happen is that Alice would get me to be the opening act of the rest of Austin's tour." Alice is Delaney's record producer and owner of the Mustastic Records.

"Here are the new books that we ordered." Violet walks back over to the counter, setting the box on top. With the help of scissors, she opens the box and exhales. "Ah. The smell of new books is one of the best smells."

"Agreed." Delaney nodded in agreement. She glanced over to her right when she spot the blonde boy from earlier at the register getting help from one of the employees. She shook her head and blinked rapidly, rubbing her eyes. She was definitely missing Austin a lot. She was seeing him everywhere.

"Okay, I just need to get out of here for a while." Delaney sighed, grabbing her purse that's in one of the shelves of the counter.

"While you're out can you get the mail?" Jesse asks her. "I've been meaning to get it, but I haven't gotten around to get it yet."

"Yeah, sure." Delaney nodded.

Meanwhile, Austin was on his tour, and he had just finished preforming his song 'Chasin' the Beat of My Heart' in Chicago. Honestly, he had written that song about Delaney. And she was the only thing on his mind as he performed the song. Every lyric of the song he was talking about Delaney. How he was dying to see her face, that he wished she was at the door. He just couldn't take another minute more without seeing her. But he knew that someway and somehow that they would get reunited.

Looking over to where Dez and Trish are standing off to the side, a bright smile tugs on Austin's lips when he sees the girl he's been longing to see. When she waves at him, he chuckles in disbelief. "Delaney, you're here."

He ran off the stage to hug her. In his mind he was hugging Delaney, but in reality, he was actually hugging the security guard, and the security guard was looking at him with confusion.

Dez and Trish look at Austin with concern. "He's doing it again." Trish spoke. Austin may have hugged a lot of security guards, thinking they were Delaney. "Wow. I knew he missed Delaney, but I didn't think he missed her this much."

Dez shrugs. "Or he just really likes security guards." Trish looks at him weirdly. Dez glances at her and nods. "Yeah, it's probably the Delaney thing."

****

Austin, Dez, and Trish offered for Ally and Finn to join them on the tour, but they both politely declined. Finn had a lacrosse game coming up that he couldn't miss, and his coach wouldn't be happy with him missing any practices. And although Ally would've gone on the tour if she didn't have to work the music store and finish writing songs for Ronnie Ramone, who had signed her for a record deal.

Finn had been helping out at the music store in his free time since he knew that Ally needed the help and he didn't mind working. Especially if that meant he got to spend more time with Ally. The music store wasn't really busy, so they decided on facetiming Austin, Dez, and Trish to check in on them after they texted Dez and Trish to make sure that they weren't busy.

"Hi, Ally and Finn!" Austin, Dez, and Trish greeted after they answered the facetime call.

"Hey, you guys!" Finn smiled and waved at the three.

"How was Chicago?" Ally asked with a smile on her lips.

"Amazing." Austin grins. "All three nights sold out."

Dez nods, his lips forming into a grin. "I ate an entire deep-dish pizza on the top of the Sears Tower."

"And I got to watch Dez throw up an entire deep-dish pizza off the top of the Sears Tower." Trish chimed in.

A disgusted expression forms on Finn's face. "Bet that was gross."

"Oh, trust me," Trish nods, a look of disgust forming on her face as she shakes her head. "It was so gross."

"Well," Ally playfully nudges Finn and grins. "We had a pretty exciting weekend too."

Finn looks at her with raised eyebrows. "Really? 'Cause the weekend that I remember wasn't exciting at all."

Ally rolls her eyes playfully. "You, shush." She glances back at the others with a smile. "You know that yellow top I got for my birthday?"

"The cross-back knit sleeveless v-neck?" Dez questioned.

Ally and Finn share a confused look before looking back at Dez weirdly. "Uh...Yeah." Ally answers. She shakes her head. "Anyway, I spilled some jelly on it. I thought I would never get that stain out. So, I called Finny for help and get this, I took some tonic water, mixed it with baking soda, and..." She stops in the middle of her sentence and chuckles. "I just realized that our weekend wasn't as exciting as yours."

"Exactly what I've been trying to say." Finn commented and Ally rolled her eyes.

"Finish the story." Dez takes the device that he, Austin, and Trish are using to facetime Ally and Finn so that it's only showing him. "What happened?"

Ally furrows her eyebrows. "I-I got the stain out."

"Yes!" Dez cheers, fist bumping the air. "Great story." He leans towards the camera with a smile. "Tell it again."

"Dez," Finn chuckles. "It's not that great of a story. It's boring. And it's even more boring watching her get the stain out."

"Hey," Ally looks at him with offense. "You didn't have to come over."

Finn points at her. "You were the one who texted me that you had an emergency. So, I came over thinking that you were in trouble."

"It was an emergency, and I was in trouble!" Ally defends herself, raising her arms dramatically. "I really like that yellow top. It felt like it would take me years to get that stain out."

Finn shakes his head and chuckles. "Your definition of emergency is different than my definition."

"You guys should come meet us somewhere." Austin suggests. "Maybe even join us on tour."

"I would love to," Finn admits. "But I have a lacrosse game coming up."

"And I'm still working on finishing a few songs." Ally explains. "I have a meeting with Ronnie Ramone in a few days."

"But maybe you two need a break." Austin said, smiling at the two. "At least for a few days. Delaney will wanna see you guys."

Finn raises his eyebrows, looking at him with confusion along with Ally, Dez, and Trish. "She's joining you guys on tour?"

"Well, I hope so." Austin shyly smiles, rubbing the back of his neck. "I bought her a plane ticket to anywhere and mailed it to her with a letter."

"Awe," Ally smiles. "Austin, that's so sweet. I hope she joins you guys. I miss her."

"Yeah," Austin nods. "Me too."

"Come on, since Delaney might join us you guys should totally join us." Trish encouraged.

"Do it! Do it!" Dez chanted.

Ally and Finn share a look, both tempted to join the others on tour since they know they both should have a break. They both nodded and looked at Austin, Dez, and Trish.

"Okay, we're gonna join you guys on tour!" They both excitedly exclaimed. Austin, Dez, and Trish cheered. Ally and Finn decided on waiting on joining them on tour until they were done with their stuff they had to do and planned on meeting the gang in Washington, DC.

****

Delaney got the mail, not expecting to get a letter from Austin. She definitely wasn't expecting to get a plane ticket to anywhere from him either. It warmed her heart to know that Austin wanted her on his tour so much that he bought a plane ticket for her and mailed it to her. The letter from Austin was about how he missed her and how he, Dez, and Trish wanted her to join them on the rest of the tour. He said how she deserved a break and deserved to be on his tour with him because he couldn't have been where he is now in his music career without her. Reading that part of the letter for sure made Delaney blush.

Delaney really wanted to take him up on that offer to join him and the others on the rest of the tour. But she had to stay in New York, continue working on new songs and help out with the bookstore. When she got to the bookstore, she told her aunt and uncle about it, and they told her that she should go and that they have things at the store handled. So she decided on taking up Austin's offer and joining him and the others on tour. She was now in her room, packing. She took a break from packing and decided on facetiming Austin to let him know the good news.

"Laney!" Austin smiles at her when he answers the call. Delaney notices he's in the bus, sitting on the couch because she could see the window behind him and the back of the couch. "What's up?"

Delaney grins. "I decided on joining you guys on tour!"

Austin looks at her with wide eyes, his smile widening as he sits up straighter since he was leaning against the seat. "Wait, seriously? That's great!"

"Is that Delaney?" Delaney heard Trish ask.

Austin nods and attempts to stop Trish, but she takes his phone from him too fast. Delaney giggles a bit when she hears Austin whine in the background. "Trish."

Trish ignores him and smiles at Delaney. "Del, we miss you!" She side glances at Austin before looking at Delaney with a smirk. "Some missed you more than others."

Delaney could feel her face heat up when Trish said that since she knew the curly-haired girl was talking about Austin. "It was me!" Dez exclaims, walking over to Trish and leans next to her so he's in the frame. Delaney laughs a bit upon seeing the annoyed expression on Trish's face. "Hi, Del!" Dez smiled and waved at her.

"Hi, Dez." Delaney chuckled.

"Okay," Austin lets out an annoyed huff as he goes over to Dez and Trish, prying his phone from Trish's hand. "You guys, can I have my phone back?" Now it was just him on the screen and he smiles at her. "I'm so glad you decided on joining us on tour."

"Yeah, me too. I'm excited." Delaney grins. "And thank you for buying me that plane ticket." She smiles at him, fiddling with the heart locket he had gotten her before she left. "That's really sweet of you, blondie."

Austin shrugs, his face turning a light shade of pink, and he shyly smiles. "It was nothing."

"So, where is your next stop?" Delaney asked, tilting her head to the side.

"Uh," Austin furrows his eyebrows as he thinks of the next stop. "I think Portland."

Delaney nods with a smile tugging on her lips. "Okay, I'll see you guys there."

****

Delaney's aunt and uncle dropped her off at the airport the next day, saying their goodbyes. It was a long flight, but it would be worth it because she got to see Austin, and the others, of course. She walked in the Portland airport, rolling her suitcase with her. She looked around the airport, trying to spot her friends, and furrowed her eyebrows when she didn't see them. She was surprised that no fans had bombarded her with asking for a picture or autograph yet, but she was also glad about that because sometimes that got tiring. Delaney also had the hood of her hoodie she wore up which probably helped people not recognize her a bit.

She gets her phone out of her pocket and calls Austin. "Hey, where are you?" Austin asks her. He, Dez, and Trish were at the airport, each of them trying to see where Delaney is. The point is Delaney isn't at the same one. "We don't see you anywhere."

"Yeah, I don't see you guys either." Delaney takes a glance around the airport again, frowning upon not seeing her friends. "Where are you guys at?"

Austin glances above him at the sign. "Gate twenty-seven."

Delaney looks to her left where the front desk is and the sign on the front read 'Gate 27'. "Yeah," She grew confused as to how they were at the same place, but they don't see each other. "So am I."

Dez gasps. "Oh, this is like Ally's song!"

"Dez." Austin groaned when the red-haired boy took his phone.

"We're at the airport, but you don't see me." Dez sings in a funny voice, and Austin and Trish look at him with unamused expressions. Delaney had raised her eyebrows when Dez sang, and a chuckle escaped her lips. She was confused, but also a little bit amused. "You got off the plane, but you don't see me. I-"

Trish puts a hand on Dez's shoulder, shaking her head. "Stop it." She took Austin's phone from him, handing it back to the blonde-haired boy, who sent her a thankful smile as he took his phone from her.

"I-I don't get it. How can we be at the same gate in the same airport and not see each other?" Austin questioned, putting emphasis on the word 'not'. He was confused and upset about this. He was really looking forward to see his best friend and now they were far away from each other again.

Delaney sighs, shaking her head. "I don't know." She glanced behind her, her eyes widening upon seeing the poster on the wall. "Yeah, I don't think we're in the same airport." The poster she was looking at read 'Welcome to Portland, Maine'. "Austin, which Portland are you in?"

Austin walks over to the poster that read 'Welcome to Portland, Oregon' in the airport he's in, still on the phone with Delaney, of course. "Portland, Oregon."

"I'm in Portland, Maine." Delaney sighs. "Never been here before. First time for everything, I guess."

Austin's eyes widen. "There are two Portlands?" He looks at Dez and Trish, who now stood by him, with an upset expression. "Why would they do that?"

"I don't know. It just sucks that we're three thousand miles away from each other." Delaney responds. "And I thought being one thousand miles away from each other was bad."

"Yeah," Austin frowns. "This is much worse."

"I agree." Delaney sighed sadly.

Dez snaps, looking as if he realized something. He grins, pointing at Austin. "That's why she doesn't see us." He takes Austin's phone from him and sings. "She's in the wrong state so she don't see me." Dez looks at Austin with a smile, but Austin looked at him with raised eyebrows, his facial expression reading 'are you serious'. Dez looks at Trish, who looked at him weirdly while shaking her head, and he frowned.

****

"I'm gonna catch the next flight to Washington which will get me there in the morning at nine." Delaney informs Austin. She smiles. "All that matters is that we'll still have the rest of the tour to spend time together."

"Yeah, that's better than nothing." Austin smiles. He furrows his eyebrows when he realizes something. "Wait, do you have enough money for a ticket?" He glances at Dez and Trish. "'Cause we don't have a way to get you any cash before the flight."

"I'm sure I'll figure something out." Delaney replied in a reassuring tone. She wasn't for sure if she was trying to reassure her friends or herself. After they all said their goodbyes, Delaney hung up the phone. She put her phone in her jacket pocket and got her wallet out of her purse. She frowned upon seeing she didn't have enough cash for a ticket.

She glances at her guitar she brought with her and smiled when she thought of an idea. She decided on raising the money herself by playing one of her songs. After making a small sign that read 'Tips Please' and for the 'i' she added a heart instead of a dot and she drew a smiley face as well. She moved her suitcase so it was laying on the ground and used her purse to prop up the sign with her purse open for people to put money in. Delaney decided on singing part of her song called 'Who Says' in hopes of getting some extra cash.

Once she got her acoustic guitar out of its case and the strap around her shoulders, she takes a deep breath and began playing. "I wouldn't want to be anybody else. You made me insecure. Told me I wasn't good enough, but who are you to judge when you're a diamond in the rough."

Her music got the attention of everyone in the airport and people started to watch her from where they were at. "I'm sure you've got some things that you'd like to change about yourself, but when it comes to me, I wouldn't want to be anybody else.

When she saw movement out of the corner of her eye, she glanced up from her guitar, smiling when she saw someone going to put money in her purse. Her smile widens upon seeing the crowd that formed around her and it seemed like they were all enjoying her performance. "Na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na. I'm no beauty queen, I'm just beautiful me. Na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na. You've got every right to a beautiful life. Come on."

More people kept dropping off money into her purse the more she sang. "Who says. Who says you're not perfect?" Delaney moves from her place standing in the middle of the circle and starts walking around, smiling at everyone. The crowd watching were all smiling at her, and some were even swaying along to her music. "Who says you're not worth it? Who says you're the only one who's hurting? Trust me. That's the price of beauty. Who says you're not pretty? Who says you're not beautiful? Who says."

She played the last chord before she got to the second verse, grinning when the small crowd that formed around her cheered for her. She smiled at them, waving as she thanked them. The crowd went their own ways as she went over to her purse, moving her guitar so it's on her back. She picked up the money she earned and smiled excitedly upon seeing she had exactly enough for a plane ticket.
