Chapter-11. Again, A Stupid Fight

My days were going in a monotonous order; attending classes, chatting with Lia, buying food from canteen, fighting with Mike and also reserving place in the bus for that block head!!

***
One day when I was travelling in the town bus to school, I noticed an old couple walking in. They din't get any place to sit. I could see them both finding it hard to stand on their weak limbs.

I got up from my seat and offered mine and the one I reserved for Mike to them. You know I'm basically a kind hearted girl. Now please don't look me with any lifted eyebrows.

"Thank you my little girl, that's so kind of you!" said the old man in his shivery voice.

"Please don't mention it Sir!" I replied humbly.

The old women smiled at me, she had no teeth but it looked cute.

I was standing in the bus, holding the metal bar.

Then the bus stopped at Mike's stop.
He entered. He walked towards me,

"You din't catch a place today?" he asked.

"I did, but I offered mine to them."

I said showing him the old couple.
The couple were holding hands and were chatting and laughing their heart out. It was so heartwarming to look at.

"Such a lovely pair!! Isn't it?" he asked.

"Hmm!"

"Look at the lady, she is caring so much for the husband" Mike started.

"But I think, the husband cares more, think if any woman gets a dumb like you, then she have to suffer for the rest of her life" I said mockingly.

"What me?" he questioned.

"Don't you see the number of girls in the school longing to have me?" he defended.

"Poor ones! They don't know about you, if they get to know, they will surely start to avoid you" I replied coldly.

"And what do you think of yourself, you little witch! Arrogant always! Imagine the poor man marrying you, he need to work a lot, washing your clothes, sweeping the house, making dishes. I'm sure you never do any of these chores!" He said sarcastically.

"I wish you should get the worst wife on earth!" I cursed him with grinded teeth.

"I wish you should never get married! So that we can save the humanity" he said with those flames in his eyes.

Just then there was an awkward silence in the bus, the entire crowd in the bus was staring us quarrelling. We came to our senses; we apologized and stood with our mouth zipped.

Within few minutes there was a big sound in the bus. We all got scared. The driver got down to check it. It was a puncture. The driver did not have a spare tyre. He called for help. It took nearly 15 minutes to get the tyre replaced.

I gazed at my phone it was already 8:35. I am late. Then the driver started the engine and drove it in full speed to the next stop, which was ours.

Mike and myself got down from the bus and were running as fast as we could.

Mike was an athlete and he was running so fast that he could make the road into fire flames.

"Wait for me Giraffe!! You run so fast!" I said pantingly.

He waited for me and he tried to equalize his speed to mine.

"Hurry up! he kept shouting.

What can I do when my maximum speed is his normal walking speed?

We reached the school entrance; it was already 8:50.

I could see a woman with torn clothes near our school. I thought for a second and ran towards her.

"Where you're running to?" Mike asked.

I left no replies. I went near the woman; she looked so dull that made it clear that she was without meals for a couple of days.

I wanted to do something I thought. I was pretty sure that I've got some money left in my bag, luckily I had some.

I guess that it must be the money that I got from exchanging my smoothie on the first day. I gave it to her.

"You're so kind!" she greeted me.

I just smiled and went back into the school campus.

"You're not so rude as I thought" Mike said.

"I am arrogant, I fight with people but I hate to see people suffer."

"I like your attitude." He replied.

That was the first time I could hear him say something good on me.

We made our steps very carefully making sure we should not get caught for coming late. But I could feel that someone is standing right behind us, we both turned to see who it was. It was our fitness teacher Mrs. Helen and she hates students coming late. I gave her a blank expression, so do Mike.

"Why are you late?" she asked in her strong voice, which actually sounded like a lion roar.

"Our bus got punctured, Mam" I replied.

"We will make sure that it doesn't happen the next time" Mike added.
She looked into her watch and said,

"It's already 9, doesn't it sound too late?"

We stood still. We pleaded to her but she remained deaf to our excuses. Finally she uttered something,

"That's Detention!"
