Marjorie Jackson misses her girlhood.

She misses the carefree feeling of youth. The lack of fear as you dangle too close on an edge, proving to your friends you're braver than them. The sounds and lights of the fair as you take your brothers hand and run through it. The imagination you have, turning simple wooden spoons into gleaming silver swords, and making the small stuffed dragon you own into a real one.

But now, she's been told she's "too old for kid stuff". Now, she must learn to grow up. She's only thirteen turning fourteen, so she should still be considered a kid. But it's been years since Marjorie's felt like one.

The fragile innocence of her youth was slowly stripped away the first time their stepdad raised his voice. Then again when she'd sat in her moms car, crying until she couldn't breathe as she apologized over and over again for getting kicked out of school. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

Bit by bit as Marjorie got older, she was seen less as a kid. More responsibility fell on her shoulders and she was suddenly aware of more things that she shouldn't have to know about. When her mom wasn't home, she took her place regarding her younger brother.

But it'll all work out, she tells herself as another school decides she's too much to handle. As more cruel words fly from her stepfather's mouth. As suddenly her world is shifted and she becomes aware of a terrifying new reality. As her family is suddenly made up of two people instead of three.

That's what she tells herself as she grips a sword, the last remaining strings of her girlhood being cut as she is formed into a child soldier and the weight of the world is placed on her shoulders. As she's forced to fight to keep her brother alive from those who want him dead, which is a terrifyingly long list for a twelve year old boy. As blood stains her hands and she can't where it ends and she begins. Until Marjorie Jackson no longer recognizes herself.

It'll all work out, she tells herself. It's what she has to do to survive.

HIII! so ive had this fic planned since i heard the show was being made and i was rlly debating about posting this or not but i decided to do it after all. honestly marjorie means so much to me and i cant wait for u guys to get to know her and i hope you will love her as much as i do! The summary is shit but it's fine, i've rewritten it way too many times to care 😭

Another important thing, there may be some slight things changed from canon to fit MJ into the story, so just be aware and don't hate me for making any changes (cause i know some people get rlly nit picky about that shit)

ALABASTER!!!!! hes such an underrated character and i wanted to add him to this fic cause i don't think they'll cast him in the show 💔💔
