Chapter 1

Hi this is my first ever chapter I hope you enjoy it.

My sword cut through his throat like butter. Red sticky flowing liquid seeped out of his wound, as he fell face first onto the ground, arms spread wide like an eagle, his legs were mangled and his ankles broke. I turned him over and examined his face, definitely the right man.

Searching through his endless pockets I finally found what I was looking for. The golden amulet shone brightly as I held it to the sun. Engraved in small barely visible writing on the side was 'eligere sapienter'. I wonder what it might means.

Just about audible I hear someone scream "She's there get her." As quick as I can possibly go, I tucked the amulet in my leather boot and start running. There was an enormous bark behind me and a sound of thundering paws hitting the ground, making the pebbles on the floor shake and jump by my feet, it was as if I was caught in the middle of a stampede. They've set hounds on me.

These bulky black long hounds are following my every move. I find an opening to a cave above my head, I'll have to climb. They'll smell me right away but they can't enter it because it's so high up, they'll know I'm there, but the owners don't and they won't know I'm hidding, I shall stay there until the coast is clear. I start to climb each step taking me higher above ground and draining the already low energy I have with ever movement, but if I fall now I'm dead!

My foot slips on the wet rocks, I hold on for dear life. My arms are straining and the hounds are right below me, eyeing me hungrily, pupils firmly set watching and waiting for me to fall. One of my hands can hold on no longer, the rock breaks off beneath it, I am left dangling by one hand on a edge of a cliff.

I feel myself falling, I frantically search for something to grab onto. The hounds are now going crazy with excitement. I reach my hands high above my head and at the very last minute I mange to grab a stone that was poking out, and I hoist myself up. Climbing even faster now I make no mistakes and reach the cave.

In my pocket there's a loaf of bread and a flask of water. It should be enough to last me the night. I fill up the cave opening with rocks big and small, so if the owners come and the hounds look up, they won't know we're I am.

I eat quarter of the loaf, and gulp down some water. That's all I have, it'll have to do. I can't start a fire, the small gap I left in the cave opening for air, won't be enough for the smoke to go through and I'll most likely suffocate, so starting a fire wasn't optional. I lay there in the deafening darkness, slowly lowering my head to the rock that would now be my pillow, I shivered like a leave, the whispering wind outside spent no time sneaking in through the gaps in the rocks. Tonight was going to be a long night.

I really hope you enjoy this story. Thanks for reading it.
