Butterfly
I suck in the air from my place on the park bench. Children rush by, laughing, and I can't help but smile. So innocent...so small, helpless.
"Wishing for some of you're own?" a voice says, making me jump. I turn around and relax when I see Bull.
"Oh, hey," I sigh, motioning for him to sit down. He does.
"So, you avoided that question," he persists. I sigh and look out to the many children and tired faces of parents.
"Nope. I'm good," I sigh and lean back. I glance over to him and notice that his face fell slightly... "So what you doing here?"
"Oh," he straightens at this. "I'd like to take you somewhere...if that's ok?" he looks over to me.
"Depends on where you were thinking?" I say with a shrug. Bull tugs his shirt down slightly and nods.
"Just a walk?" he offers.
"Sure," I smile, getting up. He gets up too and we start walking down. Eventually we get to a street with an alley and screams are heard down it.
"Come on!" Bull says, pulling me along with him. We run down the alley and stop when we get to a dead end. No one was there...
Suddenly hands grabbed me and pulled me backwards. I screamed as I fell to the floor, bound by my hands and feet. Bull appears over me and he sticks something in my mouth.
"Sorry Butterfly," he whispers as everything went black.
I woke up with sounds of whirling winds in my ears and a pounding headache. I slowly pushed myself up when I realized I was bound.
Images from the alley came rushing back and I moaned in pain. Again blackness filled my mind.
Waking up for the second time I found myself without bonds and much clearer in my mind. I push myself up and I realize I'm in some golden cage.
On my right I hear a moan as Bamboo rolls over in her sleep. Her cage was deprecated in two, someone else in the other side.
"Butterfly?" I look around and find the source from my left, Best.
"Best!" I gasp and run the the other side of the cage. I stretch my hand through the bars and she does the same. Our fingers glance each other and I see silver tracks down her cheeks.
"You can't cry Best. They'll use it against you," a voice says. We look down and see three boys staring at us. One had red hair, the other black, and the third brown. Arn't we missing someone?
"You!" Best hisses and reaches for her compact. She stops when she realizes it's not there. I look for my own and see it's not there either.
Bean gets a grin on his face and shrugs. "So glad you recognized us."
"How could I forget the person I hate most in the world?" Best says so seriously and calmly that a frown replaces Bean's features.
"You don't hate me," he insists with a wave of his hand. Best just shrugs.
"You've given me plenty reasons to," she joins.
"And those aren't even the beginning," Bull joins. He looks at me, but I just sit down in my cage and stare back, calmly.
"I hear you locked up you're own brother?" Best says, pointing to Bamboo's cage. So that was who was on the other side...
"He wouldn't of fit in," Bull insists with a sneer.
"Why? Because he had the capability to love?" Best asks smugly. The boys got quiet and glanced at each other.
"She's right," I speak for the first time, startling g them. "You know how to get it. But I must admit you're exemplary at losing it."
"Shut up," Biscuit hisses at me. I hadn't noticed that he hadn't spoken yet until I heard his voice. It was weak, as if he had just gotten back from a fight. I smile.
"Where's you're lover, Biscuit. Oh wait, she never loved you...did she?" Best says with a small frown. Biscuits face goes red and he tries to charge Best, but Bean stops him.
"It's not worth it. They'll know what pain is soon enough," Bean whispers, just loud enough to hear but Best wasn't done.
"She was the smartest, you know that. She knew what you really were...even if you couldn't see it yourself!" Best sneers. Bean jumps suddenly and smacks Best across the face. She stares down at him, surprised and gently touched her cheek.
"We have more important things to do...and you have people to see," Bean insists as he dusts off his hands. They start to walk away and I get angry.
"A monster, Kaii!" Biscuit stops short and stares at me. I shake my head and glare. "She thinks you're a monster."
Bean just grabs Biscuits arm and drags him out, leaving us sitting there in our golden cages. At least we knew how to get on their nerves.
