Biscuit's pov
I watched as Blaze sat down at the table. She had de transformed into knee high jean shorts, a red tank top, and an odd red bandana.
"Mind if I ask what's with the bandana?" I say after a moment of looking at the tightly woven knot in it. Blaze looks up from her burger and raises an eye curiously at me.
"Something wrong with it?" it wasn't a tone of vain, but as defiance.
"Nope. Just wondering. Truth be told I've never seen you guys...normal," I say with a shrug. Blaze looks thoughtful as if she were deciding weather or not to trust me. Eventually one side won and she sighed.
"I've had it since I was little," she says finally, butting into a fry. I nod my head and study her. Apparently she had a brother-Bright- and he had happened to be my size. I was borrowing a red hoodie with black jeans.
"So? What now?" I ask after she threw away her trash. She plops down on the bench and rubs her forehead, as if deciding.
"Now? Whatever we want I guess," she shrugs but still has that deciding look to her.
"Want to go to the library-" I start.
"No." she says, her voice sharp and slightly unsteady. I look at her and she stares back at me, challenging me to disagree. I know better then that.
"Why not?" I said I knew better, I didn't say I did better.
"Because."
"Because why?" I wiggle an eyebrow at her but her face remains impassive.
"Because." I stopped. I have had this conversation with that monkey a million times. I knew how it ended.
"Fine. How about a little competition?" her eyes brightened slightly, there was no hiding that.
"What kind of competition?" she asks cautiously.
"How about an arcade competition? Whoever wins gets to make the other do anything they want," I say triumphantly. Blaze shrugs.
"Sure, why not?" Oh she has no idea...
The bell jingled merrily above our heads as we walked through the door. Behind the counter a teenager looks over at us.
"Hey Kaii! Whose your friend?" Allan says wiggling his eyebrow at me. Blaze stiffens and looks over at me with a murderous glare.
"Uh, hi Allan. This is..." I don't know if she want to use her name?
"Nanako," Blaze says, offering a small smile to Allan. Allan returns it and when Blaze looks around to examine the games he gives me a wink. I roll my eyes and turn back to Blaze.
"Nanako?" I whisper as we make our way to the back if the store.
She makes a small humming sound and I see her hint a smile. "There's some things you don't know about me."
"Clearly," I agree. Suddenly I see Guns and Death. I grab her hand without thinking and drag her over to the game. I let go as I examine the fame and turn to look at Blaze. For some reason her face is red.
"What about this?" I ask. She looks at the game and her face returns back to its olive hue.
"Sure," she shrugs but I see a strategy working behind her eyes.
"And just so no ones cheating..." I take off my blood red compact and set it in the counter next to the game. Blaze eyes me and slips her own pink one from its hold. She hands it to me and I notice it's lighter then her magenta color. It also had a P on it. Last time I checked LovelyLight Girls didn't have a P in it.
I sigh and set it next to mine. They looked odd, contrasting each other's colors. Like they didn't belong together...
"That's not your compact is it?" I ask without thinking, but Blaze surprised me by laughing.
"No, it's not," she agrees and looks over to the light pink circle sitting next to mine. Now that I got a better look I also noticed that it looked older, a generation or two back?
"Whose is it?" I ask, removing my eyes from it and looking at her. Her eyes move away from it as well and look into mine.
"I told you. There are things you don't know about me. Now are we playing or what?" she said stubbornly. I roll my eyes and stick two quarters into the slot.
"It's on!"
