Chapter 36
"Consider this a divorce."
She said as she almost plunged the cold steel through his heart. Key word here being "almost".
"Unhand First Young Master Wen!!" Thirty guards shouted, bursting through the doors.
"AH, C'MON, REALLY?! YOU GUYS BURST IN NOW?!" TaiFeng whined, quickly getting into a fighting stance... Not before sending a spiritual energy charged kick straight to Wen Xu's nuts, knocking him out.
'It looks like it might be the end of the line for me.'
"I really should have brought a bigger knife." She smirked, stretching her arms.
"So are you going to come at me all at once. Or are we going to do this one at a time."
Taking the first three guards out with spiritual energy, she leaped over the rest and ran down the hallway for her life.
'Dashi run run run!!!'
"Stop!! Come back here!!"
Ditching her headdress and throwing at one of the guards, she did a hard right, and kept running, the blood on her face starting to dry and get sticky.
Taking off her outer robes, she kept running further, she could almost see the exit.
'I can make it. I can make it! I can escape! I can see everyone again.'
"Close the door!!" The guards behind her shouted, at the Wens patrolling the exits.
'No, no, no! It's okay, I can still make it. I can make it!'
Running faster and faster, towards the fast-closing doors, tears trailed down her face as she came to the realization that she wouldn't make it.
"I'm sorry everyone." She whispered.
Stopping in her tracks, she turned around, dagger in hand and a cracking smile on her face, she spoke.
"It looks like I've come to the end of the road. Who cares! Someone will avenge me anyway!" She maniacally laughed, her hot, salty tears flowing from her amber eyes like a waterfall. Defiantly, pointing her small dagger at the now fifty-something soldiers all huddled together, getting ready to face her.
"The Wens will fall with or without me here! So come at me! I'll bring you all down to Hell with me!"
Charging at full speed, she took out four men at once. Blasting spiritual energy behind her, she disarmed another four. At once three more charged, he left, leaving a few cuts with their swords.
Hissing in pain, she lashed out with her dagger, striking a few of them. But she was extremely outnumbered, and her injuries were rapidly increasing.
Taking out another six, she was starting to get a little dizzy from the lack of blood.
'There's too many. I have to keep running'
Jumping over the large group, using their heads as steppingstones, she managed to get away, but they were all on your tail.
Thinking she might actually make it out, she was pulled back to reality. Literally. Someone pulled her hair and threw her to the ground.
"Qian TaiFeng. Trying to run away?" A cocky voice rang out.
Looking up from the floor, she groaned.
"Wen Chao." She wryly chuckled, eyeing up his severely bruised and swollen nose.
"I see my disciple did a number on your face. It's really an improvement."
"You still have the energy to be prideful?!" He barked, pulling on her hair even tighter.
"Ey, ease up on that grip, will ya. And besides, what were you expecting? A scared out of her wits, damsel in distress?" She widely grinned from the floor, looking like a serial killer with a combination of blood sweat and tears covering her slightly dishevelled face.
"I'm too tired to be scared, and as you can see, I've already cried enough."
"We'll see about that." Wen Chao smirked, taking the hilt of his sword and knocking her out.
"Owww. Ugh, I reek of blood." She said, looking around the unfamiliar room.
Looking around, she realized she was in a dungeon cell. The exact same one she stayed in last time. No dire wolf, though... Well, we know why.
'I've got to stop waking up in random rooms covered in injuries. It's becoming a habit.'
Scratching her chained wrists, she froze when she looked in the corner.
Huddled up in the corner was a dishevelled, dirty and very awake Su Minshan. He wasn't even moving, he just awkwardly sat there, staring at his feet.
"Uuuuh... Just because you don't move, it doesn't mean I can't see you. You're not a cockroach." TaiFeng managed to get out, still stunned at the fact that he was here. " And last time I checked, you were supposed to be in under the custody of the Lanling Jin Sect. Why are you here?"
"I... Escaped." He quietly choked out.
"I swear to god, the security in Lanling is a complete joke." She tiredly exhaled.
"And let me guess, you fled to Qishan, right?"
"I.. Thought.. That I might be able to join the Wen Sect." He sniffed. "And I did for a short amount of time."
"... For a price?"
" I told them... about the layout and wards of Gusu."
"This! This is why nobody likes you! Honestly!" She angrily hissed from across the cell. "I thought you'd learn your lesson the first time! You're lucky I'm in shackles right now."
'Thank God I updated the wards. That explains the old info.'
"Then they found out your information was useless, and then they locked you up in here." She bluntly stated, while he looked at her with confusion.
"I updated the wards after you left." She explained.
"... Hold on. You're the YueYang Sect Leader, why are you here?!" He said, realizing that she shouldn't be in here at all.
"Got kidnapped and tried to kill Wen Xu." She said, looking around mindlessly.
"Oh.... Wait, what?!" He screamed.
"Shh. My head is killing me. And yes, you heard me right. I almost succeeded as well. He's not going to use his left eye anytime soon. " She chuckled.
"I'm sorry. " Su She solemnly said.
"... For what?" TaiFeng dumbly said.
"... For trying to kill you?"
"Oh, yeah that. I don't care any more. And technically speaking you tried to kill Zixuan, not me, so yeah. " She nonchalantly replied. " How long has it been since I was brought in here anyway?"
"Hold on, I nearly killed you and you're just...forgiving me?" He said, utterly bewildered.
"Who said anything about forgiveness?" She darkly replied, her eyes turning yellow once again.
"I said I didn't care any more. I still hate you. You didn't answer my question, how long have I been in here. "
Gulping, Su She cowered further into the corner, looking anywhere but her scary eyes.
"About six hours." He whispered.
"Wow. I'm honestly surprised I haven't died due to blood loss."
'What are they planning to do with me? Since they locked me up with this waste of oxygen, they're probably planning to deal with us both.' She thought, trying to loosen her shackles a bit.
'Whatever they have planned for us, I'll most likely survive, but Su She..... Oh well, we all have to die someday, circle of life and all that.'
Clenching her wrist, she panicked when she left her left wrist, to be more specific the lack of what was on her left wrist.
"Where's Tongqing?" She said, while Su She made a confused face.
"You make that dumb looking face one more time, you see what happens." She threatened.
"I'll only ask this one more time. The jade bracelet I wear on my left wrist. Where. Is. It?"
"Wen Chao took it when he tossed you in here. He said something about it being a trophy." He choked out
"Trophy?! That scum hasn't achieved anything in his life! What trophy?!" She hissed.
She didn't get to finish her sentence, as the doors had been kicked open by a very angry looking Wen Chao, who happened to be holding a massive whip.
"So I'm scum, am I?!" He roared.
"Yep. What? You didn't hear me the first time? Oh, sorry." She grinned, while Su She just wanted the floor to open up and swallow him whole. "I didn't realize you're also deaf on top of being a massive idiot. I said that you are scum and that you've never achieved anything in your life. Did you hear me that time? I can say it louder if you'd like."
"Qian TaiFeng!" He screamed, letting his whip fly across the room, the taut leather colliding harshly with TaiFengs skin, ripping her already battered and bruised skin.
Hissing in pain, she bit her tongue and just did what she did best and dealt with the pain with a smile on her face.
"What, are you anaemic?! You whip like a girl! " She proudly yelled, not once showing weakness. "If you're going to hit me, do it right!"
"Fine then! I will!"
Taking the whip firmly in his hands, he raised his arms high and whipped with all his might. One hit. Two hits. Three hits. Four hits. Five hits.
'I'm....... starting to regret this a little.'
Slumping on her side like a rag doll, TaiFeng couldn't even speak due to how much pain she was in. She could only make small sounds, and mumble a few things.
Her golden inner robes were stained a deep crimson red and her body was littered with wounds, some of with would probably never fully heal.
"Not so talkative now are you?" Wen Chao sneered.
"S-Shut....up." she wheezed, choking on the blood filling up her mouth.
'Am ... I am really going to die? Here, of all places? I always thought that my death would be a little more dramatic and honourable than this.'
"My father told me he has an offer for you." Wen Chao said, crouching down to her level.
"He said that you're rather valuable to the Wen Sect. Personally, I don't see what he's talking about. But he said you have one of two options. Number one; you divorce Wen Xu."
'Is that supposed to be a punishment?'
"And you marry him instead."
'What on god's green earth is wrong with Wens?!! If I had a penny for how many times a Wen has wanted to marry me, I would have two pennies..... which isn't a lot, but It's pretty weird that it happened twice!!'
"He said that if you marry him, you can avoid being locked up in here for the rest of your life" He said through gritted teeth.
"And y-your.. okay with m-me being your stepmommy?" She mockingly smiled, raising an eyebrow.
"Just make your choice!!"
'Oh, i'll make my choice.'
"Go to hell." She said, spitting a mouthful of blood in his face.
"Fine then." He said, standing up and grabbing Su Minshan by his hair. "This makes this all the more fun for me!"
