Chapter. 27

Wincing in pain at her numerous cuts and bruises, she slowly opened her eyes to look at her dismal surroundings.

"Eh, I've slept in worse." She shrugged, using her good arm to prop herself up against the wall.

Looking across the poorly lit room, she saw the dog still incapacitated from her previous attack.

She felt bad about sending it flying like that but she knew that resentful energy had already corrupted it's mind to the point of no return.

If she couldn't use Tongqing to communicate with it, then it meant that it's mind was already turned to mush by the resentful energy.

Nonetheless, she felt sorry.

'I wonder how Kira is doing? Did somebody start feeding him after I left? Maybe he was taken in by a shelter and got adopted by a cute couple. I miss his ardorable little paws.' She sighed.

Kira was a German shepherd dog that TaiFeng used to feed.

Good God, she really loved that dog.

"Its probably just turned seven, what time did Wei Ying get released again?" She whispered, looking out of the caged window.

"Once again, another perfectly good set of robes, ruined."

However she had bigger things to worry about then ruined robes.

Wen Rouhan had actually had the audacity to send spies to her sect!
At least he now knows what happens when you try and mess with the YueYang Qian Sect.

You get eaten alive by a giant viper!

'They came in from the north side, which is the most risky place to enter from, regarding terrain and accessibility.' She thought, delving deep into her analysis.

'Its an incredibly dumb move to try and enter from there. The East side has a lot more cover and the terrain is easier to navigate if your trying to snoop around. Meaning that they probably attempted to get in through there first, but failed on account of how strong the wards were.'

She was playing a dangerous game. She may be strong but in terms of manpower and resources Wen Rouhan clearly had the upper hand.

If he really wanted to, he could annihilate her sect completely.

She had to play smart. Very, very smart. If she slipped up, everything she came to know and love would burn to ashes.

However she had one thing Wen Rouhan didn't.

And that was a good image in the eyes of the public.

After she became sect leader YueYang Town prospered and grew immensely thanks to her support.

The town's people were so greatful that they practically worshipped her.  There were even rumours about her being some sort of Bodhisattva!

She had the people on her side, and that was more powerful than any demonic cultivation.

'Wen Rouhan, oh Wen Rouhan, your testing my capabilities, eh? Fine then, today I'll show you exactly what I'm capable of.'

Hearing the sound of keys in the hallway, she fixed herself up as best she could.

She didn't need Wen Chao or anyone else seeing her in this state.

Adjusting her robes, and smoothing down her frizzy black locks to the best of her ability, she sat up with her back as straight as an arrow.

Peering inside the cell, Wen Chao sneered at her and then turned his attention to the still figure of the wolf.

Now that TaiFeng looked closer, the wolf hadn't moved an inch since she had knocked it out. And it didn't look like it was breathing either.

'Oh crap, I might of went a little too hard here.'

Wen Chao went over to the dog and kicked it a little. It just lifelesly slumped over on its side like a ragdoll.

Turning around with a burning hate in his eyes, he stormed out without another word.

'Oh, dear. I really hit a nerve, didnt I?'

"Do you think Sect Leader Qian is okay?" YiZhang worriedly asked, biting his nails in nervousness.

"She's the mighty Yuzhao Long!" Gao Song said, trying to cheer everyone up.
"I'm sure she'll be absolutely fine."

"That's right." Gao Liang added.
"She's one of the greatest cultivators of our time. You guys rememberthe first time she demonstrated the Fleeting Dragon Steps? Nothing could stand a chance against our sects techniques."

Wei Ying and the others took great comfort in hearing the words of her disciples. Although they were still worried sick.

Wuxian was feeling especially guilty. He didn't think that his older sister would be so selfless and take the punishment for him.

Jiang Cheng was pretty mad at Wei Ying for not being able to keep his mouth shut but deep down he forgave him. He just hoped his Er-jie was alright.

Xichen on the other hand was losing it. Nobody had ever seen the calm, cool and collected First Young Master Lan freak out in such a way.

Wangji didn't really know what to do in this situation. He was never any good at comforting people, so he just asked his brother if he was alright.

"I'm fine, Wangji." He replied, however his face said otherwise.

He was terrified of what could happen to TaiFeng. He had long heard rumours of the terrible things that prisoners in the dungeons were subject to. He could only hope that she was just staying in an empty cell.

Everyone paused when they heard the sound of people approaching.

Quickly turning their heads around,  they all gasped in horror as they were met with the sight of an extremely disheveld, limping and blood covered Sect Leader Qian.

Taking her place in front of her disciples, it wasn't long before she was swarmed by four overgrown ducklings.

"Sect Leader Qian! Why are you covered in blood?! What happened?!" Gao Liang and Gao Song cried, clinging on to her legs like five year olds.

"We thought you were staying in an empty cell! Why do you look like like this!?" YiZhang wailed, hugging her torso along with ChenHe.

"We're so glad your okay!" ChenHe said, bawling his eyes out.

"Its alright everyone. I'm okay, I promise." She consoled the crying kids.

It was an extremly heartwarming moment for everyone present. It seemed to momentarily take their minds off of the impending doom that was about to come.

If TaiFeng thought she had her hands full with these four, she was about to be proven wrong.

"Er-jieeeeee! I'm so sorry! Please forgive me!" Wuxian said, joining in on the group hug along with Jiang Cheng.

"Its my fault! I should of kept his idiot mouth in check!" Jiang Cheng sobbed.

"Relax, I forgive you both. It was my choice remember. You have nothing to apologize for." She playfully rolled her eyes at her younger brothers antics.

"Quit hogging Sect Leader Qian!" YiZhang and the others yelled, clinging to her tightly, making her flinch slightly at her wounds.

"WHAT DID YOU SAY, YOU BRATS?!" Jiang Cheng roared.

"She's our sister first!" Wuxian yelled.

"Well it's your fault she got sent to the dungeons in the first place!" Gao Song bit back, pointing an accusing finger at him like that one meme with the cat.

"Guys, guys, let's not fight, alright. What matters is Sect Leader Qian is safe." ChenHe said, drying his tears with his sleeves.

"Exactly." TaiFeng said, adjusting what was left of her outer robes.

"And in case you all haven't noticed, we're in the middle of a indoctrination."

Hearing this, they all quickly composed themselves, extremly embarrassed at their childish behaviour.

"Hey, tiger." Zixuan said coming over with Huaisang

"... So what happened exactly, because those scratches  don't look like they were from a human."

"The mighty tiger went head to head with the fearsome dire wolf." She sighed in exhaustion.

Wei Ying went as white as a sheet.

"Don't worry, it's dead. Although, Wen Chao probably hates me even more now that I killed his beloved pet. "
She said, trying her best to cope with the pain.

'Wei Ying, how on earth did you act like nothing was wrong for so long? This is goddamn tiring.' She thought, ignoring the small beads of sweat forming on her forehead.

"There was a wolf?... You knew. Er-jie, why did you take my punishment for me?! I would have been fine." Wei Ying sniffed, head hung low in shame.

"Didi, you've suffered enough. There's no need to be so apologetic all the time. Especially, when there no need to apologise." She replied, with a warm, motherly tone that seemed to make everyone around her feel safe.

Adressing both Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying, she gave them a kind and heart felt smile. The kind of smile that comes from the depth of your eyes, and the bottom of your heart.

"I'll never forget the kindness you've both shown me for as long as I live. Even after I'm gone, I'll remember.

So if the price of everyone's happiness is a few bruises, I'll gladly walk through hell so your smiles never fade."

All the onlookers from multiple sects instantly had the same thought.

'Qian TaiFeng is truly an amazing person.'

Xichen looked at her from afar with such a complex look. A plethora of emotions swirling in his beautiful kind eyes.

Admiration. Longing.  And most of all.

Love

He felt like a whirlpool in an otherwise calm lake. His heart had been aching with fear of what could of happened to her in the dungeons.

He wanted to reach out, to touch her delicate features, to kiss her vibrant full lips, to whisper sweet nothings into her ears and watch her exquisite copper eyes light up at the words he would say.

He may never find enough words to describe how she made him feel, but he was prepared to spend the rest of his life searching.

He was truly caught in a typhoon.
