Chapter 25

Hello everyone, here are some memes I created for you all.

That's all for now. I'll be sure to make a part two. Now onto the fanfic!

A lone girl walks slowly down an alleyway, her steps stumbling due to being under the influence.

Her clothes are tattered and worn out and her hair is matted and poorly cut.

Her eyes were caked with the remains of what looked like eyeliner, but now was smudged to the point of no return.

Pulling the hood up on her mud stained red jacket, she kept walking.

It starts to rain.

Looking up at the pale grey sky, she starts to sob. Leaning against a filthy brick wall, she lets herself sink to the ground in utter defeat.

"Am I that unlovable?"

The sunlight gently shone through the windows of the room.

TaiFeng was already awake, and had decided to get up.

'Why did I have a dream now? And about that of all things.' She thought putting her robes on and slipping away.

Judging by the sky it was about four  am, so there probably wouldn't be that many people around.

She was quite good at walking around unnoticed, so she took a walk to clear her head. And to spy on the Wens as much as she could.

However her ability to know when there were people behind her needed some work.

Feeling a chill up her spine, she turned around to see Wen Xu standing right behind her.

He didn't say anything and neither did she. They just stared at each other, sizing each other up.

TaiFeng was prepared to just walk away without saying a word but unfortunately Wen Xu spoke before she could.

"You're up rather early." He said, as if he was on a friendly basis.

It threw TaiFeng off greatly, but she didn't let it show.

"I could say the same to you." She replied in a robotic, monotone voice.

The last thing she needed was emotions showing through.

'What game is he playing at?'

"I wasn't aware the Sect Leader of the YueYang Chang Sect was a woman." He said, slowly approaching her.

She didn't budge an inch, she knew that if she did, it would be over.

Instead she held her head high and had a cold look on her face.

"It seems like your not very well informed then." She said, devoid of any emotion.

He snickered at this, getting closer and closer, very slowly raising his arm.

Taking his right hand and gently caressing her cheek, he sighed.

"Its truly a shame. You really should smile more, it's truly a waste of such an exquisite face like yours. Ah, such an unparalleled beauty. If you weren't so cold and distant, I would make you my bride right here and now."

She felt overwhelming disgust rise up from her throat. Her left arm was filled with a searing white pain and her eyes were subtly flashing between electric yellow and her usual brown.

But she remained as still and serene  as a jade statue. Regulating her breathing, she stared into his eyes and spoke in a tone so low, one would have thought she was possessed.

"You're not qualified to be my concubine ."

"Concubine!?" He snarled, his hands now on her neck, his grip getting tighter with each passing second.

"I certainly don't intend on making you my husband." She replied, voice filled with loathing.

Wen Xu eyes were filled with rage but he held himself back on account of her being a sect leader.

"Remove your hand before I rip it off your arm." She said, eyes now fully glowing yellow, her pupils narrowed into thin slits like that of a snake.

Wen Xu slowly but surely removed his hand, his eyes were full of what seemed like surprise and intrigue, but his face remained the same.

He maintained his staring contest with her the whole time despite her eyes changing into something so unnerving.

Walking past him,she spoke in a harsh tone that could only be  described as a perfect imitation of  Madam Yu's voice.

"Tell your father that I'm sorely disappointed in his efforts."

With this she threw him six small  objects tied together with string which he caught, before she walked off.

Looking down at his hands, Wen Xu was holding the blood covered name tags of six senior Wen disciples.

Quickly walking back to the room, she stopped beside a marble pillar,  gasping as she saw her eyes in the dull reflection.

'Is this why Wen Chao kept giving me weird looks?! How many times has this happened?'She thought to herself, trying to calm her raging mind.

After controlling her breathing her pupils slowly went back to normal, and her eyes faded from neon yellow to a soft amber and then finally back to her normal chestnut brown.

'I need to control my anger otherwise this could be catastrophic for me.'  She thought, slowly slipping in through the door.

Carefully avoiding any creaky floorboards, she did her best to slip past all the sleeping men and make it back to her bed.

Unfortunately she had misplaced a step and landed directly on a really creaky floorboard.

Holding her breath, she waited a little and then slowly continued.

"TaiFeng?" A voice whispered out.

'Damn it.'

Turning around, she was face to face with Xichen, who was grogily sitting up in bed. It wasn't quite five yet, so he wasn't expecting to be woken up by a noise.

Everyone else, including Lan Zhan, was fast asleep.

He was too busy cuddling with Wei Ying, who snuck into his bed during the night.

Xichen wiped the sleep from his eyes and looked directly at her. Pausing, his eyes went wide. He immediately shot up from his bed and went over to TaiFeng.

He gently put his hand on her shoulders, worry painting his handsome features.

TaiFeng was startled by the sudden intimacy and looked at him in confusion.

"Who did this to you?"
He asked in a low, barely audible whisper.

Looking extra confused, she tried to speak only to be met with extreme discomfort. Clenching her throat in pain, she realised that Wen Xu must have bruised her throat when he grabbed it during their confrontation.

"Are you hurt anywhere else?" He worriedly questioned.

Shaking her head, TaiFeng tried her best to reassure him that she was fine by waving her hands in dissmisal.

Not believing her for a second,he took her over to a small table on the opposite side of the room.

Quickly rummaging around his qiankun pouch, he pulled out a small porcelain container of ointment.

"Ah,um, I need to apply the ointment." He shyly said.

Nodding in understanding, she carefully pulled down her robes exposing her bruised collarbone, being careful not to let him see her tattoo.

Wincing slightly at the black and purple bruises in the form of a hand print, he gently applied the ointment.

They both felt a little embarrassed about it, especially Xichen.

He had been trying his best to hide his feelings about TaiFeng for a while now. He just wasn't sure if she would accept his feelings. She had a sect to run and she was almost always busy with something. When she turned down Sect Leader Yao's son, he was positive he didn't have a chance.

"What happened exactly?" He whispered.

Avoiding his eyes, she just shook her head.

This was something she just didn't want anyone to know about, especially Xichen. She didn't need him knowing that yet another man tried to take advantage of her. It made her look weak and helpless, and she hated looking weak.

She could handle herself just fine, and she didn't need anyone else.

"If you don't want to tell me, I understand." He sadly sighed.

"But what about your brothers? Last time I checked, they act like complete mother hens when it comes to you."

Smiling a little, she looked over at the sleeping figures of her adoptive brothers.

'How am I supposed to explain this?' She internally cursed, getting a little teary eyed.

Xichen let out a long sigh and got up to put the medicine away.

Without even thinking TaiFeng  grabbed his hand, and held it tight.

Not really knowing what to do, she just just cupped his cheeks and gave him an absolutely adorable determined nod.

It was her way of saying that she had it under control, and that he didn't need to worry.

Unfortunately for Xichen, his face was now as red as a tomato and he was about to go into catatonic shock at how adorable his crush could be at times.

Flashing him a big smile, she went through her qiankun pouch and puked out a blue embroidered piece of fabric.

Wrapping it around her neck, she gave him a big thumbs up.

'This should work just fine.' She thought.

She then tried to tie a bow, but failed. She kept getting flustered and tried again.

"Um, here, uh, let me help you." Xichen offered, helping her tie a neat bow.

Furiously blushing, TaiFeng gave him a thankful look, her eyes lingering on his face.

"Um, how do you intend on getting through today?" He asked,

Sinking her head in defeat, she let out a shaky breath.

"Don't worry, we'll figure it out together." He reassured her, smiling comfortingly.

Gently smiling back she nodded and thought to herself.

'I'm going to kill Wen Xu, but I'll torment his idiot younger brother first.'
