Chapter. 12
Note: I know the timeline is a bit messed up and things aren't exactly happening in their original order, but for the sake of the story I altered the timeline a bit.
She donned her black sedge hat and changed into some spare robes.
She flew east as fast as her sword allowed.
'Okay okay, just relax, you've practised this in your head for weeks now. There's nothing to be afraid of. Your FeiHong Yuzhao Long!'
She arrived at a small town that was filled with peddlers selling all sorts of food and drink.
She walked up to a stall selling bags of candy.
"Boss, can I get two bags of candies, please."
"Sure thing, Young Lady." The peddler enthusiasticly replied.
"Also do you happen to know about an abandoned house with a red tiled roof by the riverside? I'm supposed to meet a friend there." She said kindly.
"Oh, I know that place! Just turn left at the tea house and you can't miss it. Here's your candies." He said as he gave her the bags.
She walked past the tea house and turned left onto a path by the river. At the very end was the house, out of view from the rest of the street.
She came towards the door and saw that it was covered in dust except for the doorknobs.
'So he really is here.'
She pushed the door open and walked into the tiny and unkept courtyard.
She let down her hat to reveal her face.
"I know your here."
Without warning a small dagger flew her way. She saw this coming though and deflected it with her sheathed sword.
"Who are you?" Xue Yang said, stepping out from the shadows.
He looked closely at her sword.
"Juexin? You're Yuzhao Long?"
"You know me?" She said, still on guard against him.
"I know of you." He replied.
"But why are you here? It's not like an esteemed cultivator such as your self would know about little old me." He said, mockingly bowing.
"You know who I am, therefore you should know the reason behind my title." She said, relaxing a bit. She couldn't sense any danger from him for now.
"What the YueYang Chang Sect Leader did to you is unforgivable. However killing them is not going to solve anything, nor will it bring you any peace. In the end, you'll die by the hands of another for your crimes."
"How do you know that!?" He screamed, unsheathing his sword and pointing it at her neck.
"I'm Yuzhao Long. It would be weirder if I didn't know."
She calmly replied.
"So... you really can see into the future?" He said, sword still at her throat.
"Than if you know what the sect leader did than why are you stopping me?! With your tragic backstory I thought you'd sympathise!"
"My backstory?"
"Oh, please practically everyone knows about the story of Qian TaiFeng. Born an orphan, she spent her childhood on the harsh streets, even when she found someone to take care of her she lost that person as well." He said tauntingly.
If her backstory wasn't fake, she would have snapped at that.
"You'll just be letting Sect Leader Chang and his disiples off easy." She said with a smirk.
"I plan to kill them. How is that letting them off easily? Yuzhao Long, I didn't know you were this cruel." He laughed
"Use your brain for a minute, will you!"
She said rolling her eyes.
"If you just go and slaughter the entire sect without bringing all their wrongdoings to light, they'll die as pitiful victims! All the while you, the actual victim will be painted as a heinous villain. Don't you think that's letting them off pretty easily? In fact, that's exactly what they would want.
Your actions won't be seen as seeking justice and exacting revenge. They'll be seen as atrocious acts of violence against innocent people.
And nobody will ever find out the truth. Even if you told them they'd never believe you. Because that's just the way that people are. They pick and choose what they want to believe, regardless of the situation."
She said stepping back towards the door, leaving Xue Yang stunned.
"You have a choice. You can either join me and bring the YueYang Chang Sect down the right way, or you can go along with your original plan and get yourself captured and wrongfully executed. You have six hours to make your decision."
She said putting on her hat and walking out the door calmly.
Once outside she walked around and bought some beef jerky, spicy stir fry pork and some accessories she thought looked nice.
Once she did she walked in the direction of the YueYang Chang Sect.
Going round the back she peered over the fence. As she looked round the courtyard she saw a small fluffy black and white puppy in a corner.
"Psst, little doggy."She whispered to it.
"Hello, who are you?" The puppy asked.
"My name's A'Hong. Hey, do you happen to know if the people living here have done anything bad? They hurt my best friend and I want to make them apologise to him." She lied.
"I don't know anything but I could ask my Mama. She's says she a.. a hunting dog, that's it. She said she belongs to someone called Sect Leader. Mama says he's very mean to everyone and that I should be kind instead!" The puppy spoke.
'Oh,my gosh! He's just too cute! If Wuxian wasn't scared of dogs I would take him home with me!'
"Can you ask your Mama to come here. I'll give you some beef jerky if you do." She coaxed.
"Yay, beef! I'll go and get Mama right now!"
The little puppy run off. Two minutes later he came back with a fully grown dog with sleek black fur that had part of its ear missing.
"Hello, just who are you. It's the first time anyone's ever understood us." The dog spoke in a motherly tone that kind of reminded her of Yanli.
"I'm trying to bring Sect Leader Chang to justice for his crimes, but I need evidence. I was wondering if you might know anything." She answered.
"He tends to bully those around him and treat them like dirt, but I don't know if he's committed any actual crimes."She said, pausing to think.
"However, once when we were on a night hunt he confronted a man and payed him a lot of money. He said it was to keep his mouth shut. I remember the man a had a scar on his left cheek. He said that his surname was Shangguan. I'm not sure why he payed that man, but I've never seen him look so guilty."
"Thank you very much. You've helped me out a lot." She said throwing down some beef jerky before vanishing.
'Shangguan, huh? It's not a common name, so it shouldn't be to hard to find him.'
She then went from shop to shop asking about the YueYang Chang Sect.
According to the peddlers, the general sentiment was that everyone disliked the sect in one way or another.
At least she didn't have to sway the publics opinion.
Whilst doing this she also managed to find out about the Shangguan guy. Apparently his name was Shangguan Zhu and he owned an apothecary on the west side of town.
If she succeeded, this would be a major turning point in the war.
If Xue Yang doesn't massacre the YueYang Chang Sect, he won't get caught by Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen. Meaning he won't go to the Unclean Realm and be freed by Meng Yao and go on to join Wen Rouhan.
Speaking of which, where were those cultivators?
Xiao Xingchen was a disciple of the Immortal Baoshan Sanren, meaning that Cangse Sanren was his Senior Sister. Which made Wei Ying his Martial Nephew.
'I'm sure he'd be over the moon at the thought of meeting Wei Ying.'
It was slowly getting darker and the sky had now faded into a beautiful dusty pink.
Sensing a presence behind her she smiled.
"So you finnaly came to your senses?"
She said as Xue Yang came out from round the corner.
"I thought about what you said, you're right. Killing him would just be letting him off easily." He scoffed.
"So what's your plan?"
"There's an apothecary on the west side of town. It's run by a man named Shangguan Zhu. Tomorrow we'll find him and interrogate him." She said as she threw a bag of candies at Xue Yang.
"Welcome to the team."
Xue Yang eyes lit up and he smiled as he ate a piece.
"I'll come back tomorrow, until then lay low. Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen are nearby." She said hopping onto her sword and flying off.
