CRAM Chapter 05-You're My What?!

{Lucy}

The girls crowded over me making me feel suffocated. "You should have never been absent yesterday. So many things happened! It was so mind blowing, I’d tell you that much.” Kinana told me as she checked her nails. She was telling me the same thing for two hours already.

"Uh-huh." Laki just kept on nodding as she ate her burger.

"Juvia agrees." Juvia chimed in, sitting beside me. I bet she just finished her first class in the afternoon.

"Well... for me nothing much." Of course. She couldn’t care less about anything.

These guys... yesterday was Friday the 13th and they're telling me I should've never been absent. Mind blowing, huh. What happened anyway? They’re getting loquacious meaning something interesting has happened. I wasn’t there to witness it, too bad.

"Why were you absent yesterday, anyway?" Mirajane peeked at me. I wish Levy was here to answer their questions. I’m too busy organizing the pairs for the upcoming prom next month. I wasn’t going to prom with a date.

I stopped writing and closed my eyes. "Actually, the families of Levy and I moved into new houses. We need to help of course, so we decided to be absent for just a day. It took us a long time, considering all the things we’ve brought along." I explained exasperatedly.

Wendy’s eyes gleamed in delight and she giggled. “We have new neighbors too! I’m so excited to meet them. Mom told us they studied in here too and that they were probably my classmates. It may be you two.” She joked. “They”, huh. Well, it would be nice to have Wendy as my neighbor, but Natsu is her step-brother so no thanks. “Oh, oh! Can we visit you if there’s some time?”

“Sure.”

"So that explains." It's the Beast again. I rolled my eyes as I turned to him.

"What do you want?" I muttered, crossing my arms.

What shocked me was that he gave me a heart shaped box. Oh, wait. More like threw it in my face. I know what's inside. A chocolate. But.. why would he give me such a thing?

"Ohhhh!!! You naughty boy. Natsu, are you gonna court Lucy? Good luck, you’d have to beat us first." Mira smirked.

I blushed. I bet my face looks like a tomato right now.

"Oh, right! Now Juvia has no love rival!" Juvia grinned and started patting my back crazily. What the heck? "Wish you luck, Natsu-san!"

"A new couple, I see." Erza slowly nodded her head.

"Hm? What couple?"

I swallowed and turned to Sting.

"Sting! You know what, Natsu is gonna court Lucy already!" Levy-chaaaan! I'm gonna kill you later! You're gonna pay for this!

Natsu got irritated and screamed, "Everybody, will you please shut up?!" I’d thank him later for this.

Everyone shut their mouths and no one dared to speak. Heh. The power of a king.

Natsu sighed and suddenly grasped my wrist which made me blush a deeper shade of red. "Luce, we need to talk."

My friends were left there, mouths wide open and gasping. “So now they’re gonna do something dirty. As a president, I cannot allow this. But since I ship them, they can do whatever they want. Make 33 babies!” I wanted to glare at Erza right now.

I gave Levy a pleading look, but she gave me back the look "Go-Lu-chan!-you-can-do-it". We really are bestfriends.

We reached the terrace of our school.

Memories came into my mind as we stopped walking in silence.

—FLASHBACK—

I was in the terrace of our school when someone called me, "Lucy! Lucy!" A five year old pink haired boy ran towards me, grinning.

"Heyya, Natsu!"

"Look! I've got a present for you!"

"Really? What is it?"

He grinned wider, "A chocolate."

I looked at him, a little baffled. Ib liked chocolate, but why would he give me one randomly? "Why chocolate? It’s not Valentine’s Day."

"Because your eyes are in the color of chocolates. And, I just love you." I became bashful because of what he said.

"Th-Thank you." But the ‘I love you’ still bothered me. Maybe he meant it as a friend?

His childish grin made me smile at him, too. "You're welcome!" He was such a good friend. What will happen if he’d be my boyfriend someday? Will he be my husband too? I’d like to be one someday. And we’d have many kids...

I became uneasy. "By the way, Natsu..."

"Hm?" He hummed as I stared at his spiky pink hair. It was so beautiful I could stare at it all day long. I ruffled his hair absent-mindedly, to which he didn’t mind.

"What traits are the ones you like in a girl?" I asked nervously, fidgeting.

He smiled to himself. "Traits? Hm... I like her being simple and the way she is. Just like you."

I couldn’t help but get my hopes up. "So you like me?" I asked, trying to hide the excitement in my voice.

"No, silly.” I frowned. Well, so much for hoping. I stopped ruffling his already messy hair. “I have someone I like, and she's just like you."

"Oh, I see." I answered, disappointment overflowing in my voice.

He didn’t notice my sad tone. I felt like playing my piano right now so I wouldn’t feel lonely. "Wanna know her name?" I didn’t want to be rude. So even if I never wanted to hear it, I nodded.

"Of course."

"Lisanna. Lisanna Strauss. She's pretty, kind, simple, friendly, cheerful..." He sighed, amazement clear in his eyes. His dreamy eyes made me extremely jealous of that Lisanna.

I stood there, sadness overwhelming my body. I was speechless.

"Hey... won't you say anything?" I felt like saying: “What, you expect me to be happy for you?”

Instead of saying that, I shook my head. "Nothing. I.. need to go home." And I ran away.

-END OF FLASHBACK-

If you would ask me if I like him back then, yes. I like him. And even when we were little kids, he really liked Lisanna.

That day was the day that I have decided to never fall in love with a guy like him. Especially because he's my best friend... my childhood friend back then.

And now that my feelings for him are gone, I'm relieved. I buried the thoughts in my mind that he was once my child hood best friend and crush.

I don't know if he can still remember. I mean, we were still five year olds that time.

"Lucy..." that tone... I know he's serious about something. About what?

Now I felt really awkward. I mean, I don’t want to think of my past with him beside me. I had hidden feelings for him back then. It’d feel uncomfortable.

I became nervous.

"CanyoupleasehelpmewithLisanna?" He talked so fast but I still understood it. I frowned. I rolled my eyes at him.

"And why would I?"

"Please... I know you can help me with this."

"Nah-uh. I'm going." And I left him there, shouting my name. So annoying. I thought he was gonna tell me something more important.

Hey everyone! Don't think I'm bitter, assuming or anything! You all know I love Sting!

"Lucy Heartfilia. What happened?" Levy asked me when I reached my seat.

"Wha—"

"I mean between you and Natsu." She looked me over seriously.

"There's nothing—"

She glared at me, making me shiver. "Don't lie!!" What is her problem?? It wasn’t that important.

"We just talked about Lisanna! What about it?" I inquired.

"Huh? Lisanna?" She calmed down, sitting down again. Her eyes showed me wild curiosity. She’s wild whenever she's curious.

"Yes. So what's the big deal, anyway?"

"Nothing."

"You’re so weird." I commented, narrowing my eyes.

Then lunch came.

I unlocked my locker and when it clicked open... I felt something wrong.

Levy and I went home together like usual after class. While we were walking home, my phone beeped.

A message from mom...

From: mom

Uhm, I don’t know who you are, but your mom told me to text you. We’ll meet later. Prepare nice clothes, she says. Be with Levy too.

Who’s this? I know he won't recognize me because my name in mom’s phone was Toblerone.

Anyway, I’m still tired. Sigh.

"Levy-chan, mom said we're going to meet our neighbors. Can you come with me, please?"

"Sure, sure. Whatever you say."

We reached the house.

"Hi mom." Levy and I said in chorus.

"Hello girls! Come, let's meet our new neighbors. Dress up nicely, okay?”

Furrowing my eyebrows, I obliged. Levy looked intrigued for some reason as well but I didn’t bother asking.

As we walked outside the house...

"Natsu, you're my what?!" And he stared back at me, shocked.
