I'm Not Lying
"A tail that your great, great, great grandmother would know. The tail of how this camp got it's name." Ed said looking at all the campers. Then he continued, "Long, long ago, right in this very spot, stood Stan E. Henderson. Some say he was a handsome man others say his heart was pure gold but, most said both." I don't know if it was just me, or was the fire getting bigger every time he paused the story.
"He had many nicknames, Moose, Hawk, Bear, but his most common name was Snake because he was clever and sneaky." He looked at all the campers, and again the fire got bigger. "Snake was walking in these forests with a few of his close friends and his loving girlfriend. Many say, not long after they started they're walk, they came across this very camp and met an American Black Bear." He explained and some of the boys gasped, I think it was cabin one. Then he continued, "And right where cabin one is sitting is where Snake, had his first victory." Then the lady-I found out her name was Toni-handed the boys in cabin one blue shirts, that said something in white print.
"Then he said that this very spot, is where he will live his life." Ed said, then he pointed to cabin 2 for the boys, "Cabin two is where Snake tamed and buried his first pet coyote." Toni handed them green shirts, but the one with black hair and purple jacket looked mad, maybe because of the color.
"Cabin three is where Snake came face to face with seven raccoons, and killed them, with one slice of his pocket knife." Ed said as Toni passed out turquoise shirts to Tyler's cabin.
"Cabin four! Oh cabin four, is the cabin of love but of stink as well. Your cabin was placed there when Snake had his first son, but as the birth of his baby went on, a surfeit of skunks showed up. But Snake killed them and was able to see his girlfriend give birth to there baby, which they name Skunk." Ed said. Toni handed them black shirts.
"Cabin five, is where Snake's sick, best friend was attacked by 18 squirrels. So Snake killed all of them, to save his weakly friend." Ed said. Cabin five got white shirts with black print.
"Over where cabin six is where Snakes mother died. So in her honor, he started building cabin six, cabin of the scarlet tanager-Her favorite bird. But sadly, never finished." Ed explained. They got red shirts.
"Right where cabin seven is, is where Snake found a path to a river, full of beavers! Which he killed and used to stay warm in the winter." Ed said excitedly. It was getting really dark, but I think they got brown.
"Cabin eight, was where Snake saved to camp from starving, by killing a buffalo right there." He said pointing at cabin eight. They got grey shirts
"Ladies in cabin one, you are where Snake's wife pasted away. So as he did with his mother, he built a cabin in her honor. And he named it the monarch butterfly, because that was her nickname." Ed said. Zoe's cabin got orange shirts.
"Cabin two is a very lucky cabin. It's where Snake and Monarch got married, and as a sign of love, they released doves." Ed said doing a bird motion with his hands. A few laughs. They got pink shirts, then I seen that it said "DOVES" on it. So everyone who got a shirt had their cabins name on it.
"Ladies in cabin three. Your cabin show fearlessness when Snake came faced to face with a white-tailed deer that didn't even move when he was a foot away from it." Ed said. Toni handed them yellow shirts.
"Cabin four, is an important cabin to Snake, Monarch, and the whole camp. Snake found a little baby bunny where cabin four is. But two days later, his wife gave birth to his daughter, and named her Bunny." Ed said as Toni handed us our purple shirts that said "BUNNY". "Why was Bunny so important, after Snake died, Bunny carried the camp to the next generation. And then after she died, her son took over. And that's happened for seven generation's leading to you kids." Ed finished, everyone cheered.
Then Toni stood on the stump, "Please wear your shirts and a pair of shorts tomorrow, we will be going to the Fighting Circle after lunch." Toni yelled as some people started getting up to leave.
Fighting Circle? What's that? I was kinda tired, so was the rest of our cabin, so we just went to bed.
The next day, we got up, got dressed;I put on my bunny shirt and black nike shorts. I looked wired. the shirt could be a dress and you can only see an inch of my shorts. Alesa, Jess, and Colleen said I looked cute. after telling then that I look stupid, we headed to breakfast.
After breakfast we all went to the Fire Pit. they said that we could sit next to any one, so my cabin sat with Tyler's cabin, who sat next to Zoe's cabin. They all said I looked cute in my oversized outfit. So I stood up in front of them and pointed out that I looked stupid.
They disagreed and some lady yelled, "Hey shorty, sit down!" I turned my head to see an angry old lady pointing at me. I sat down but, everyone was looking at me. Great.
"Okay everyone, I want you to meet your leaders. Boys, this is Josh." Toni said motioning to a man about mid-twenties. "And girls his is Emily." She motioned to the lady that yelled at me. Even more great.
"Okay boys, I want you to line up in this side of the camp." Josh said nicely. The boys listened to him and lined up.
"Girls line up on the other side, now!" Emily screamed at us. I got up a ran to the end of the line next to Louise. I turned to look at Emily and I saw Mamrie still sitting. I got worried that she going to get in trouble.
I was about to say something to her but then Emily started screaming again, "Are your legs broken," Mamrie shook her head no, "Then why aren't you moving?" She screamed even louder than before.
"Maybe because I don't want you yelling at me." Mamrie said.
"Move!" She screamed so loud that the ground shook. Mamrie still wasn't scarred but she got up and walked lazily to the line. I looked at the boys, they were silent and were staring at Emily.
Josh broke the silence, "Okay, l-lets go down the line to learn every ones name.
"Let's get started ladies!" Emily yelled and pointed to Mamrie
"Mamrie."
"Zoe."
"Alesa."
"Hannah"
"Lilly."
"Marzia."
"Grace."
"Jenna."
"Tanya."
"Justine."
"Glozell."
"Tiffany."
"Jess."
"Colleen."
"Louise."
She points to me, "Fred."
She looked at me wired. "What's your REAL name?" she yelled in my face.
"That is my real name." I said trying to defend myself
"Stop lying to me! What's your actual name, shorty?" She screamed even louder.
"I'm not lying, that's my real name." I tried to explain
"There is no way in heaven or hell that your name is Fred! Is your mother so stupid that she doesn't understand the difference between a boy and a girl?" She screamed even louder at me than she did at Mamrie. Then I got mad, she just called my mother stupid.
"Hey, you can make fun of my name, height, and the way I dress! But there is no fucking way you are going to insult my mother when she can beat ass at anything! Got that you fucking hag!" I screamed as loud as I could and I could tell she was scarred a bit. I looked around, and everybody was looking at me. Great.
"I-I'm sorry. P-please excuse m-me, I'll be in the women's restroom." Emily basically whispered. and walked to the restrooms.
I looked around again and everyone was still staring at me. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cuss" I said quietly and a bit scared.
Then everyone started cheering, what's going on?
"Someone finally put here in her place!" Jess screamed with happiness. Okay, so I understand the girls being happy, but why are the boys?
"Boys, why are you happy?" Ed asked me question
"Because, now we can actually have fun without her yelling at us as well as the girls!" a boy with black hair from the black bear cabin explained.
Then Louise turned to me, "Don't worry about cussing, they don't mind."
"Okay ever one calm down. When Emily gets back, we are going to the lake for canoeing." Ed said
