•Kaila's POV•
Not two weeks later, it was the night before camp. I was packing my clothes when I heard a knock at the door.
"Hey Bug!" Kallen said peeking through the crack of the door.
"Kallen, you don't need to check on me every ten minutes! I get you are excited, but jeez." I rolled my eyes, slightly annoyed. I continued to fold clothes and put them in my suitcase.
He laughed. "I know, I know. But I just wanted to ask you how you are feeling about this whole thing."
"I don't know. I mean, it should be pretty cool. I'm just nervous. I'm not that type of person to just make friends out of nowhere." I sat down on my bed, fiddling with a pair of socks. Kallen sat next to me. My heart started beating faster, Kallen put his hand up to help, but I flinched away.
He smiled at me solemnly and apologized. He knew. Not a lot of people did. I smiled back. Kallen wasn't the annoying or rude older brother everybody would expect. He was kind, gentle, and caring. Kaleb was more independent, but not rude or anything. I loved my brothers.
"I know we have a broken family. With grandma and grandpa gone and Kam--" he paused and started tearing up. I put an arm around his waist and put my head on his shoulder.
"Kallen, it's okay, you don't have to say it. I understand." I said trying to distract his mind. He was the closest to Kambel even though him being a third of four, he loved Kambel. "So, tell me more about camp." I tried to lighten the mood.
His smile brightened, sitting up straighter. He wiped a few tears from under his eyes. "What do you want to know?"
"Everything!" I giggled. I positioned my body, so I was facing him.
He laughed. "Any specific questions?"
I thought about his question. "What is this camp even called? I mean you talk about camp all the time and you've never once said the name!"
He chuckled. "Fusion. Fusion Bible Camp."
After that, I asked him more and more questions, until it was finally time to go to sleep.
