Scar
Scar wasn't flying in the air long before he went splat on the hard ground. Then his vision turned red, and then black.
Please respawn. I can't die, not yet.
But... where had he respawned?
It definitely wasn't Camp Half-Blood. Or Hermitcraft.
But it was cold. Scar was freezing.
If this was what being dead felt like, Scar had not been missing out on anything.
Scar opened his eyes and looked around. He didn't know where he was. It seemed to be a lobby of some kind, with a security guard at a tall desk. Depressed-looking people sat anxiously on benches and chairs, and some stood up.
Scar looked at his own hands and saw that they were pale and glowing faintly.
He walked over to the security guard. "Hi?"
The guard stared coolly down at him. "How did you die?"
Scar gulped. This guy was kind of scary, but at least now Scar knew he was, in fact, dead. "I got thrown by a scorpion."
"You mean stung? Or was it in Australia?"
Scar didn't have a clue where that was. "No, no. In Camp Half-Blood."
The guy frowned. "Oh. Okay. You're a demigod. Out of curiosity, who's your parent?"
Scar shrugged. "I wasn't claimed."
"Pity. Anyway, pleasantries aside. Do you have a coin? I can't get you across the river if you don't have a coin."
Scar patted his pockets. "Uh..."
Since when did he need a coin?
In fact, what the heck was a coin?
"Um, what's a coin?"
The security guard raised his eyebrows. "Excuse me?"
Scar chuckled. "I'm sorry, but I don't know what a coin is. I'm from another world, Mr. Security Guard."
"Charon," the guard corrected.
"Karen?"
"No. Charon. C-H-A-R-O-N."
"Karen," Scar said, nodding. "Mr. Karen, I don't know what a coin is."
Karen the security guard sighed. "It's a small, round object, usually made of gold or silver, that you can pay me to get across the river Styx."
"No, I don't have a coin. But I have a diamond," Scar said.
He didn't know where it had come from. It had just appeared in his pocket.
Karen/Charon stared at it for a long time.
"Hello?" Scar said. "Shiny thing? Diamond? Hello-ooo?"
"I'll take it," Charon said, and plucked it out of Scar's ghostly hand.
Scar didn't exactly know what he was doing here, but some instinct told him to follow this Karen guy.
Charon led him to some shiny elevator doors. Almost as shiny as a diamond, but not quite as blue.
"Wait here," Charon said. "And you might want to get aquainted. It's going to be a while before it's full."
Scar looked at his fellow ghosts. Some were old, some young like him. All seemed sad, distracted, and anxious. They were constantly checking watches, tapping feet, occasionally chattering to each other but not very much.
"See you later," Karen the security guard said as the doors hissed shut.
Scar had a feeling he would be here a pretty long time.
~~~
Okay, so this was another short one. But two updates in one day, so whatever.
So, um. Scar's dead...
I still don't know if he'll be rescued or reborn or idk. I don't even know whether he'll go to Punishment, Elysium, or Asphodel (did I spell those right?) This is completely improvised and I have no plan whatsoever, so let's see where this goes! 👍
