two. first night.
My first night at camp, was definitely one of the worst I've ever had.
I could practically hear the hours tick by and the howl of wolves in the distance...
****
Dev shuttered as she heard another howl, the cabin creaked as Sarah's soft snores stayed at a steady rhythm.
"Gosh.." she muttered and pulled back the covers, placing her feet on the cold floor.
She visibly cringed as the floor boards made a squeaky noise under her weight.
Devon quietly tip toed towards the door and opened it slightly, slipping out and hoping not to wake Sarah.
Once the cool breeze hit her face, she chuckled a little.
"Damn." Somebody laughed. Devon jumped then whipped her head around to see 'kidblink' on his porch. "Looks like we both couldn't sleep.
"yeah.." They both shared a laugh and he ended up motioning her over.
Once she finally got to his porch he smiled warmly.
"So, heard tomorrow we're supposed to go canoeing." He chuckled.
"Great." Devon rolled her blue eyes sarcastically.
"I also heard you met Spot today. How'd that go for you?" He elbowed her shoulder lightheartedly.
"You know him?" Dev asked, her light eyebrows raising in shock.
"Yep." He laughed. "Sadly."
"Sorry to say, but he's a dumb fuck. Needs to learn to keep his nose out of other peoples business."
"Hah. Well, that's Spot for ya." Blink rubbed his hand up and down his arm to try and stay warm.
The two laughed and sat quietly watching the sun rise.
Dev sighed contently, camp wasn't too bad so far.
But she was still mad at her parents for sending her there.
The teens lounged on the porch until they could hear Aidan calling for Blink to make coffee.
They said their farewells and Devon went back to her cabin.
"Ooh Dev! I have the perfect outfit for you today!" Sarah squealed.
She then threw Devon a pair of short denim shorts and an army green crop top.
"Isn't it going to be cold?"
"No way silly. The sun'll be out all day." Sarah giggled.
"Well, thank you." Dev smiled genuinely. Glad that she made a friend.
Sarah was wearing a periwinkle shirt with a pair of shorts, her hair done in a French braid.
Devon took her clothes with her into the bathroom to get changed and when she finally came out, Sarah was gushing all over her.
"Oh my goodness Dev, you look gorgeous! I'm sorry your luggage hasn't been found yet, but you're more than welcome to borrow more of my clothes in the future."
Devon laughed. "Thanks Sarah, you look really pretty!"
Sarah blushed "pretty enough for jack?"
"Most definitely." Dev nodded approvingly.
The two girls exited the cabin, to be met with Aidan and Blink.
"Hey guys, just thought we would walk with yo- absolutely not Devon, you are not wearing that."
"Why not?" Devon asked her brother, defensively.
"Too much skin, too many hormones. As your older brother, it is my job to scare away the boys."
"You're literally two minutes older than me."
"Are you back talking me? Go change." Aidan ordered.
"No." Devon crossed her arms over her chest and stomped by Aidan.
"Ugh, girls." He muttered to blink who nodded in agreement.
"Oh shit, you were right Blinky Boy." Dev yelled from ahead. She stood by the edge of the lake, a few counselors and kids stood near the canoes.
"When am I ever wrong?"
The girl rolled her eyes. "So, Mary-Anne. What's goin on?"
The older woman smiled with teeth, "we're going canoeing!"
"Will I be sharing a boat with you?" Aidan winked at the older woman.
"Shut up asswipe."
"Dirtbag."
"Dweeb."
"-okay! So only cabins a through f will be boating today. Everyone else go see Mrs. Larkin for your schedule for the day."
Devon stayed, for she was cabin d along with sarah.
Jack and David were a.
Blink and Aidan were b.
Oscar and Morris were c.
Spot and Anthony were d.
And Charlie and Matt were e. (Oof crutchy and mush)
So that meant Dev and Sarah were f.
"So, i will be assigning partners. Make new friends guys, you will all be together for awhile, no use in being antisocial."
Everyone groaned and rolled their eyes.
"Anthony and David. Sarah and Charlie. Matt and Aidan. Oscar and Louis. Jack and Morris. Patrick and Devon."
"Ah are you fucking kidding me?!" Devon screamed, earning a glare from Mary-Anne.
"Hi again, sweet cheeks." Spot slung an arm over her shoulder, only to have it flung off by her brother.
"Absolutely not." He grunted, walking away form them and towards Matt.
