Chapter Four: Hiking and Fandom Fights
"Where are we supposed to meet up again?" Holly asked as she met up with Landon the next day, right outside his cabin.
"Right outside the woods. Kylie will meet us there." Landon told her.
It was early the next day. Their first camp activity would be all day and they would be traveling all over the Hazel Woods. Landon was beginning to wonder why he had agreed to it.
"Alright campers! Twenty two, this should be everyone!" Kylie counted and double counted after Landon and Holly arrived. "Alright! Follow me!" She instructed.
Holly stuck near Landon and the two stayed close to the back. A familiar auburn ponytail bounced in front of Holly. The Potterhead tried to remember what the girl's name was when-
"Holly, right? I'm Elora! You might not remember me, but we met yesterday. Small world! I didn't expect you to be on this hiking trip!" Elora Titas, the Percy Jackson fan, stated after noticing Holly. She waited for Holly and Landon to catch up, dragging a blond guy with her.
"Hi, Elora." Holly grinned.
"This is my friend, David River, by the way." Elora introduced. David gave a slight nod.
He had messy, dirty blond hair, dark blue eyes, and square glasses. He was short, shorter than Elora, and he was wearing the same orange bow tie as yesterday.
"Hi I'm Elora!" Elora had turned her attention to Landon.
"Uh hi, I'm Landon." He introduced himself.
"Have you seen any fandom fights, yet?" Elora asked.
"Not yet, but probably soon." Holly stated. "After all the science fiction and fantasy have a rivalry going on." She gave Landon a sharp nudge with her elbow. He rolled his eyes.
"Well there certainly are some unfriendly people." Elora glanced over at a dark haired girl near the front. "Earlier this morning I had a run in with a Twilight fan."
"I've been there." Holly mumbled. Twilight fans were certainly known to get into arguments with other fandoms, especially Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. The other fandoms weren't exactly innocent though. They were known to pick fights back.
"She's a real piece of work." Elora frowned. "I was merely trying to be friendly, but all she cared about was the fact that I didn't enjoy her series."
"That is why I don't talk to strangers." David stated.
"I thought it was because I'm the only companion you need." Elora grinned.
David opened his mouth to reply but Holly spoke up before he could say anything.
"Guys, shush."
"In what universe is Tony Stark better than Bruce Wayne?" A girl spat ahead of them. She had medium length, platinum blonde hair and light green eyes that were narrowed due to the arguing. She wore a black t-shirt with the Batman logo on it.
"In the MCU! And every other universe." A different girl hissed. She had dark skin, long chocolate hair held in a braid, and had a terrifying scowl on her face. She wore a red, Iron-Man jacket and had her arms crossed in a huff.
"That's only because the MCU doesn't have Batman. The MCU would be lucky to have Plastic Man, they suck so much. All Marvel has are knock offs." The blond said.
"Say that again I dare you." The dark haired girl looked ready to lunge at the other.
It sounded like there definitely was a fandom fight going on. And it was an intense one at that. DC and Marvel could range from best friends with a bit of friendly competition to super scary, depending on the circumstances.
"Maybe you two should just calm down?" A timid looking, Asian girl. It looked like Holly wasn't the only one who had noticed the arguing.
"No one asked you, Rory!" Both girls snapped. Rory glared at them, but said nothing.
"Both of you, shut the hell up!" A familiar voice screeched. Holly groaned. Stephanie...
Elora's eyes narrowed. "That's the girl I got in an argument with. Seems like she likes going around and bashing other fandoms."
Holly looked around for Kylie, only to find that she wasn't paying any attention to them. She was too busy making conversation with a tall, brunette girl.
"You want to fight too, Twihard?" The blond hissed.
"Gwen, knock it off! Who gives a crap about your little fandom war?"
They walked deeper into the woods, the light growing darker with all the towering evergreen trees. They were getting farther and farther from civilization. An isolated forest where no one could hear you scream did not sound fun with this arguing.
"That's awfully hypocritical of you, Stephanie." Holly piped up. The Gryffindor could only resist not joining a fight for so long. "I heard you've been going around and doing the same thing."
Stephanie frowned at Holly, but it quickly turned into a scowl. "Mind your own business, Pothead!"
"The correct term is Potterhead." Landon said, trying to defend his friend's honor.
"Guys, you're only making the fighting worse!" Rory cried.
"What is all this commotion about?" Kylie asked, finally hearing them shouting at each other. "We're hear to have fun, aren't we?"
Holly opened her mouth to say something, anything that help her, but no words came out.
They continued on, but Holly had a sneaking suspicion that she had made an enemy in Stephanie. That would be something she would learn to regret.
