Chapter Five: In The Woods

Holly couldn't help, but notice Stephanie shoot her a glare. She glared back.

"Are you okay, Holly?" Landon asked.

"I'm fine-" Holly snapped. She clearly wasn't fine as she stepped on her shoe lace and immediately face planted.

"Holly!" Landon bent down to help her up immediately. "Are you okay?"

"Ow," Holly moaned. She had scrapped the side of her forehead on a rock when she tripped. Rich red blood leaked from the wound.

"Yikes!" Landon exclaimed. He reached into his blue, Star Wars backpack and pull out his mini first aid kit.

"You brought that?"

"I wanted to be prepared!" Landon told her as he pulled out a tissue to wipe up the blood and a band-aid.

Their group hadn't seemed to notice that they had stopped. They had been a little behind anyway, but now they were much farther away. Landon wanted to hurry up and catch them, so they didn't get left behind.

"Go on ahead. I'll catch up." Holly said, triple tying her shoe.

"Yeah, right. Like I'm going to just leave you. We'll both catch up." Landon told her.

"Have you checked to make sure both your shoes are tied?" Holly asked, moving over to her other foot. Landon rolled his eyes, before tucking his laces in.

Now the group had completely disappeared. Which was just great.

"Dang it." Landon mumbled.

Holly stood up and quickly grabbed his hand to drag him down the path.

"We'll catch up as long as we follow the path." Holly said, now running.

This proved to be harder than expected. They found themselves at a fork in the path where it split into two. One led up into trees and the other slid down to the lake. Stephanie waited at the fork in the path for them.

"There you loser- er hi Landon-" Stephanie smiled. "Kylie wanted me to wait for you to tell you where to go."

"Well?" Holly asked.

"Take the high path. That's where everyone else is. Gwen got lost, so I'll have to go get her. But you two go on ahead." Stephanie groaned.

"We'll just stick with you. There's safety in numbers." Landon stated, eying Stephanie suspiciously. She gritted her teeth.

"Um no we're not, Landon." Holly didn't like the idea of being around Stephanie longer than she had to. She grabbed his hand. "Let's go."

They headed off up the high path. The trees were getting thicker and thicker. The sun was rising in the sky. It had been an hour and they still hadn't found their group.

"Anyone out there?" Holly shouted, exhausted and upset.

"I think we may be lost."

"You think?" Holly snapped. She frowned at her harsh infliction. "Sorry, I'm just a little on edge."

"I can tell. It's cool." Landon shrugged it off.

Holly sighed. What else were they supposed to do?

"Just keep shouting. Someone has to hear us eventually, right?" Landon suggested. He cupped his mouth with his hands before booming, "HEY, ANYONE OUT HERE?"

Holly cupped her hands like his. "ANYONE HERE? WE'RE LOST!"

"HELLOOOOOOOOO?" Landon yelled, in a funny infliction that made Holly laugh.

"I AM THE GHOST OF THESE WOODS! COME FORTH TO ME ALL YOU TRAVELERS!" Holly joked. Landon sniggered. His best friend smiled. "Okay, I should be taking this more seriously."

"It's great that you're in a better mood." Landon shrugged. "And they'll hear us if we keep the same volume no matter what we say."

Their voices were the only ones they could hear in the forest, but it wasn't the only sound. Notes of bird's chirping, leaves rustling, and the soft sounds of a dribbling, little creek could be heard in the moments they were quiet. Then...

"HEY IS SOMEONE OUT HERE?" A feminine voice shouted through the trees.

Holly and Landon shared a look of excitement. Finally a reply!  Holly cupped her hands around her mouth. "YES WE'RE HERE!"

Leaves rustled more as if someone was through bushes and stepping on the crunchy ones on the ground. Twigs snapped.

A tall girl with long brown hair and narrow hazel eyes appeared through the trees. She wore a black shirt with a red devils trap on it, black pants, and black boots. She clearly liked the color black.

"Lost in the woods?" She asked. They nodded. She frowned. "Any idea how we can get back to the group?"

"Besides yelling? No, not really." Landon admitted.

The girl sighed. "Well we should probably stick together on this. I'm Samantha by the way. Samantha Collins, but you can just call me Sam."

"Holly Parker," Holly introduced. "And this is Landon Walker."

And that was how they met Samantha Collins: the Supernatural fangirl.

They kept walking.

Sorry it's been a while. I'm starting my Junior year of high school tomorrow, so I've had a lot on my mind. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for reading!
