Two
Finn.
That sounded strange on my tongue.
Finnick.
Why don't I remember?
I have been walking since I opened my eyes, and I mean that literally. I've been trekking across the forest for a long time.
The time didn't seem to pass, the moon still high up in the sky, but how would I know if that was true? I didn't have a clock.
"Who are you?"
I stopped.
"Come on, turn around"
I looked behind me, in the bushes, two eyes stared back at me. Neon blue.
Doesn't this remind you of Sans?
Why did that voice in my head sound so familiar? Like I heard it millions of times before?
"Hey now, look at me" The figure straightened up, his copper hair neatly combed, not a single sign of wilderness expect in his eyes.
Although something else caught my eyes before all that-
The pale-blue jacket. The one that the boy was wearing. The one that looked exactly the same as his, was the same color, and same design.
It was all the same except that a spade was sewn into his jacket, black contrasting against everything else on the jacket.
"So, who are you?" The boy wore a cheeky grin, eyes bright as he continued, "I'm Finnick, everyone knows who I am, I'm the Spade king's son!"
Wait wha- No, but I'm- How could he be if I was-
"Call me Finn. Just Finn"
***
Hey, Okay look this is the narrator speaking, so this has reached a weird part, but let's let Finn refer to the "Spade King's Son" as Finnick, and our neighborhood protagonist as Finn, alright?
.
..
...
Never mind, your choices don't matter anyways.

"Cool! So it's like we're twining!"
That sentence hurt, and I didn't exactly know why, maybe it's because I felt lonely from the start or maybe it's just a gut feeling.
"You look like a traveler! D'you need directions or something?"
I paused, did I really know where I was going? Or was I lying to myself this entire time?
"I don't have a place to travel to..."
"Oh! So like a wanderer, you know those people that go from place to place, never knowing where they wanted to go until they get there? That's cool! I'll help you!"
I glanced over him again, he was surprisingly shorter than me, his hair longer, and his eyes bluer, if that's possible.
He was deliriously happy, giddy even. I didn't know that people could be so happy, just by meeting a stranger.
But I didn't question it.
"What's your favorite muffin?" Finnick bounced over to stand beside me, "I like the ones that have Chocolate, but I won't turn down blueberry either! They all taste good!"
I smiled, and I didn't know why.

That means we're changing story arches, reader. Get used to it. You don't have a choice
"What do you mean that they aren't doing anything?" I snapped, pushing up my glasses to peer at Jedi, "What do they mean by 'Oh, we can't do anything'. That's not true! This camp has magic!"
Jedi glared right back at me, "Annie, what they mean is that he's not here anymore. And they don't know where he is"
I crossed my arms stubbornly, "Honestly, where could he be anyways? This place is only this large". Although it didn't seemed like it, it was weird to not have Finn adding fuel to our argument... But then again if he was here, this fight wouldn't have happened.
"Camp Cypress is an magical institution, sure, but magic can only do so much without using their life energy-"
"English please." I snapped, looking around at the cabin of ours. Erica was in the corner, writing something in her notebook, and Star was going to the cafeteria to get some food, since we missed lunch at least.
"The most they can do is put up wards to stop Venus and Moonshine from coming close, but even those won't last forever" Jedi leaned against the pole of the bunk, annoyance in the way he held himself, "And plus, they already searched the area with magic, and Finn's soul didn't show up on the radar"
"Can't we like, ask the government or whatever?"
Jedi looked completely disgusted with my question, "Look, first, there have been multiple missing people in the past years and the government don't care. Second, Heatherwood is the only city that has magic. Even if you master the arts, there's a big chance that the city wouldn't let you leave with their magic"
I rolled my eyes, "We can't let Venus and Moonshine get away with this"
"No, of course not," Jedi gestured to the window, "But so far this is our first year here, and we've only learned about snaplights-"
I opened my mouth to interrupt, but he continued, "I know that you and Star can do more than that, but your kind of magic is different. Your kind of magic is much like casting a spell, and not controlling the earth itself. Obviously, your kind of magic doesn't give us much of an advantage in battle, as we learned from experience, so we have to rely on elemental magic"
Jedi held up his fingers, "Classes in elemental magic don't start until... 3 years in. We don't have time for that if we want to find Finn and defeat Venus and Moonshine before they cause too much mayhem and chaos"
"So you're suggesting...?"
Jedi sighed, as though his words were crystal-clear, "We learn it ourselves, and go find Finn."
"And what about Venus and Moonshine?"
"We deal with them after we teach Finn to control whichever element he has..." Jedi paused as he fetched a piece of paper from his pockets, "Although we shouldn't make it too obvious that we are trying to do advanced magic beforehand, as the camp director probably wouldn't want that... And in order to make it not suspicious..."
He looked right into my eyes as he continued, "We're going to be good students, and not cause trouble, and once the teachers favors us, we can ask about actual elemental magic"
He glanced at Erica, in her corner, "What's the first class again?"
Erica stopped her busy scribbling, drawling "First class is wood-reading. Learning about prophecies and how to decrypt the one word stories that the wood nymphs and tree beetles tell"
Jedi turned back to me, "So yo-"
The door flew open, "What's up?! I've got food!"
I grinned as Star made her way into the cabin, carrying plates ladened with food, varying from soup to grilled cheese.
"Welcome back," Jedi said curtly, "How was it?"
I glared at him as I helped Star to unpile the food, "Be nice. Remember, Jedi, no trouble"
No trouble.
No trouble at all.
As if that was true.
