Twenty-Four
Erica wasn't feeling that great, she has a massive headache and couldn't remember anything.
Well, that part wasn't exactly true.
But it pretty much summed up how she felt.
She has no idea where she is, and no idea how she got there.
A sign was nailed into the ground, old and torn.
"Mindscape? UnReality? What kind of names are these?" She looks around her, she seemed to be in a house, different rooms down the hall, and the front door firmly locked.
She couldn't remember anything other than talking to Link, but that seemed a long time ago.
A person looking uttermost like her walked down the hall, laughing before freezing at the sight of her.
"Can you see me?" The person looked at her in surprise before hurrying up to her and waving her hand in front of her eyes.
"...Yes?"
"Oh my gosh!" The person squeaks, "Ellegard! Erin! Esther!"
The person hurriedly reaches out and grabs her hand, "Sorry I haven't introduced myself yet, I'm Eve! So glad to meet the original!"
Erica raises an eyebrow before pulling her hand away, "Uh, Nice to meet you"
Eve dances around in the spot before calming down slightly, "You must be wondering where you are! This is your mind essentially, and we're different parts of you!"
The door farest down the hall opens, a person with glasses and a sweater comes out, almost annoyed, "Eve, how many times do I have to tell you-"
They freeze as they look at Erica with slight confusion and surprise, "...You aren't supposed to be here"
"Uhh, Pretty sure I am not supposed to be here either," Erica replies, "Cut me some slack, I have no idea what happened either"
"Ellegard," the person nods as they rush forward to inspect her, as if she was an alien, "I am Ellegard"
"You probably have questions!" Eve smiles brightly, "Sit down, I'll make some tea, and we'll do our best to answer your questions!"
---
I open my eyes and roll over on the bed.
Erica seems to have already left, Star was still sleeping.
I put on my glasses and blink as the sun shone through cracks in the curtains.
There was steady knocking coming from the door, I think today is Saturday? Why would anyone be at the door when you can sleep in and try to get a decent sleep schedule these days.
Hoodie, check.
Glasses, check.
Shoes, check.
I push open the door, probably slamming whoever it was in the face.
"Annie! What the-"
Jedi stood there, holding his nose, as he glared at me.
"Oop-"
He rolls his eyes as I shrug.
"Anyhow," I said, flicking his forehead, "Who's fault was it for standing to close to the door?"
Jedi rolls his eyes, "Just wanted to know if you knew where Erica went? I kind of wanted to talk to her"
"Uhh, nope, no idea where she went actually," I said as I steered away from the cabin, "Whatever you wanna tell her, I can relay the message"
Jedi opens his mouth to say something and then closes it, "I mean, we can talk if you want"
"Then off we go, almighty one" I shoved him towards a trail off to the side, "Let us adventure into the great unknown"
Jedi rolls his eyes, "Alright, alright, oh great leader of our group, I can actually walk, in case you haven't realized-"
"Soooo," I began "What did you want to talk about?"
He pauses, "Well, you ever wake up after dreaming about something rather disoriented that seems to have happened in the near future?"
"Oddly specific, but alright"
Jedi casts a glance at me before continuing, "The dream was oddly specific too, Something about a blue portal, and the ringing of bells I think?"
"Okay, okay, slow down a bit," I said, gabbing my figer at his face, "What do you remember?"
"Well, I think it was a shrine? On top of a mountain? And then these weird gray people with black markings came, and the place went into lockdown or something? There were a lot of people that I don't recongize, but they were all wearing white cultvation robes, and one of them opened a portal"
Jedi gestures a bit as he tries to collect his thoughts, "And then a big gap in my memory, but there was a loud voice, like threatening to burn the shrine, and then there were like seven people that went with us and I didn't recongize any of them"
"Describe them maybe?"
Jedi squints off into the distance, "There was a semi-transparent ghost-like person? A guy with a purple cape? Two people wearing black and white, another person wearing the emblem of with a red sun on it?"
I nod, "Go on?"
"There was a person that looked like Finn, but something was slightly off about him, he looked like Finn, but he didn't act like him. And then a dude with black hair, and then Olek maybe? He looked a lot younger but no idea. Also, apparently Finn was also with us for some reason"
"Sounds like a normal dream to me," I said sarcastically, "You aren't giving me much to work with, Jedi. People we don't know, a place we don't know, and somewhere in the future?"
Jedi shrugs, "Honestly, it's as blurry as it can gets, I don't have experience with this kind of thing"
"Eh," I wave it off, "Well, like we have no set place, time, people or situation, this is like a warning, but it's too vague for us to do anything about"
After a moment of hesitation and silence, I added under my breath, "Jar Jar Binks is too dumb to understand what I just said"
Jedi opens and then closes his mouth in mock annoyance and disappointment, with the look of "Why-did-you-bring-that-up-right-now, Annie".
"Everyday is a national bully Jedi day" I replied off-handedly and kept walking.
Jedi raises a finger as though he wanted to object but then lowers it, probably thinking that objecting would do no use.
To which he would absolutely be right about.
"Oi, Jedi," I called as I pointed towards the general direction of the mess hall, "I'm going to get some food, you want to come?"
Jedi frowns, "It's the other way"
"Whatever, you want to come?"
"I'm going to stay here for a bit longer," Jedi says, as he glanced at the leaves and new blooming flowers, "It's weird that they're blooming all at once, I might stay here for a bit"
"Yeah yeah, they probably used some kind of fertilizer on that part," I pointed to his side, and then mine, "'Cuz my side looks like it ain't blooming at all"
Jedi pauses, thinking, "I'm going to try something, didn't you say you want food?"
"Well, yeah, but obviously you aren't doing anything without me," I retorted pointing at myself this time, "Things always go wrong when I'm not around"
"They go even more wrong when you are around"
"Ouch, that hurts," I mocked, faking sadness, "How dare you, the great Jedi, treat his best friend like that?"
Jedi sighs, "Alright, you stay right there- No! Stay there- Yes, there- Okay, stop"
I blinked slowly, "I didn't even move-"
"I know you were going to-"
"But I didn't-"
"-You would have-"
"No I wouldn't have-"
"Shush!" Jedi said, trying to point in my direction without looking, which I can say is very off-point, "Let me focus!"
Jedi crouches down to the grass, which I can say, isn't every smart of him because there are dew on the grass and he's going to get his pants soaked, and it's going to be horrible for the long-term usage of the jeans.
With a moment of silence, Jedi suddenly shoots up from his crouched position and let's out a cheer.
"It worked! It works!"
He cheered like a little kid, which obviously we don't see very often. Okay maybe, I was planning on blackmailing him if I had a phone, but since I don't, that idea went down the drain.
"Did you see? Did you see?" He bounced around, which I seriously thought I would never see him do in my entire existence.
"You were blocking me?" I said? Asked? Tried to break it slowly to him? "I didn't see nothing"
"Alright, alright, alright," Jedi said, breathing in and then out, he holds out his hands, where he had uprooted a perfectly fine flower.
"What's this supposed to be?"
"Observe" (A/N: Not a spongebob reference I promise, totally)
He held out his hands, and slowly the flower shriveled up and turned to dust.
"I-What, what did you do to the flower?" I stepped back, nearly falling over myself, but let's not talk about that, "Is your power like death or something?"
"No, stop it, you're being silly" Jedi rolls his eyes, and then covers the flower, there was the sound of leaves brushing against each other, "Look"
He opens his hands again and the flower was standing there, looking as bright as ever.
"...Who's the dumb one now, huh, Annie?"
"Wait, wait, wait," I looked away, pointing at a tree, "Can you control that tree?"
"I can try, but no guarantee" Jedi replied as he dropped the flower on the grass, "Let me see..."
He raised his hand towards the tree, the sound of soil splitting echoed slightly.
Jedi pointed up, and with a lunge up, the tree uprooted itself, and walked towards us with it's twisting roots.
"I, Uh, Jedi?"
Jedi stood there, not blinking, a blank stare on his face.
"...Jedi?"
Jedi straightened up suddenly, "Annie"
He said, but it didn't really sound like him. Something was slightly off about the way he held himself up.
"Jedi? Are you alright?"
He raised his hand, and the surrounding forests fell away, being swiftly replaced by the mountain side.
A small shrine was visible at the top of the mountain, just barely. The moon hung high in the sky as a the stars twinkled.
"...Jedi?" I waved my hand in front of him, "Is this the place you were talking about?"
He stared straight ahead and sighed, in a completely different voice, he replies "Amos sees all"
"I am the one that sent him the dream," Jedi, or I guess he's Amos now, says, "I've come to warn you of the foreseen dangers of the path you are treading on. By discovering your powers, comes the fears that have grown because of your ignorance in the years before"
The mountain scenery fell away, and we were now inside the shrine.
Gigantic statues towered over the room, a chair at the far back. It was beautifully decorated, with banners, and drawings of various stories.
"This," Amos points towards a drawing that looked relatively new, as the others were all faded, "Is the one that you have to remember"
It was a drawing of a group of friends, hugging with smiles on their faces. They were outlined with different colors; red, blue, green, black, white, and purple. There was also a girl that was not outlined at all, which was strange considering that everyone else had an outline.
"Do not give into fear, it only lets them in easier," Amos read, "Pride yourself with the memories you have, in face of danger, stand your ground. Do not listen to the voices that tell you to give up"
"They were truly legends," Amos said, still not betraying a single hint of emotion, "Ankiah, Michia, Bailey, Geoffrey, Gigi and Eiran... They truly didn't deserve any of this"
"Remember them, Annie," Amos turns around suddenly, "No matter what they say, you have to uphold their memory. Uphold Ankiah for my sake"
"One last thing before I go," Amos's eyes twinkled, "Precious seconds, Annie"
"I- what?"
"Your friend is to die in a few days time, your death is not yet foreseen, meaning that you essentially have infinite seconds to spare," Amos nodded, "Using just five seconds, I can save your life, and theirs"
"Who?"
"Heh," Amos chuckled, "That's the fun part, you won't know, it's like a gamble, whether it's a close friend or a future friend"
"I mean, I guess you can take five seconds" I shrug, "Not that big of a deal"
Amos nods slowly, "In a few moments time, you will be back with your friends, and nothing would have happened, although..."
"What?"
Amos cracked a grin, "Well, can't exactly tell you can I? But if you ever come across a temple, do go inside"
"Oddly specific, but alright," I shrug again, "Is Jedi going to remember anything?"
"That boy? No, he won't. He shouldn't anyhow," Amos replied, "You ready to go back?"
"No other choice is there?" I commented humorlessly, "At least, haven't given me any"
Amos shrugs, "I'll take that as a yes"
With a snap, I was back with Jedi, back when he had tried to make the tree move towards us.
With the same lunge, the tree uprooted itself again.
"It works!" Jedi exclaimed, surprise echoing in his voice, "It works!"
I must have seemed semi-focused, because Jedi was peering at me like I had done something wrong, "Annie?"
"Yes, Jedi. I'm fine, don't ask how I know you were going to say that"
Jedi opens his mouth to retort, but then sighs, "You're keep doing that aren't you?"
"Doing what?"
"Being weird and acting like it's totally normal that everyday you get told that your best friend can control plants"
"Best friend? Please, who gave you that boost of over-confidence?"
Jedi sticks out his tongue, "Who gave you that sassiness?"
"Top ten questions that scientists still can't answer," I grinned, "Or top ten questions that no one knows the answers to"
"Let's head back," Jedi suggested, "That was enough for a-"
"-Lifetime"
Jedi snaps up, his eyes following the voice.
The bushes rustled, as two people came walking out of it. George and Cole glanced up in surprise as we just stood there.
"Oh hello, fellow friends," Cole rushed forwards, over-dramatic, "Who would have thought that we would meet you in the forest?"
"You guys weren't doing anything right?" George asked, completely ignoring Cole.
"I- What- Why would you-" Jedi sputtered, clearly taken off guard by such a blunt question, "You realize how young we are?"
George chuckles, "Age is just a number"
Cole whacks George over the head, "Stop it. They can't be doing anything, and even if they were, it's none of your business!"
"Alright!" Cole continues, "Who wants to go get food?"
