Seven

"Where's you house again?"

I asked, peering though the purple trees, "Almighty, Spade prince"

Finnick crossed his arms, pouting.

I never do that.

Gigi followed behind us in silence, possibly bored and disinterested.

"North of here," He said "Pass Roche's shop, and across the cliff"

"Roche?"

Finnick brightened up at the mention of Ruche, ever so slightly, "Roche is a cat. But not exactly a cat. He walks on two legs, AND he has this cool orange-purple cloak. He also never opens his eyes!"

"Is... Is he cool with... uh... new people?"

"Yeah! He is the nicest shopkeeper, he also has the coolest wares"

I gestured to the small speck of light in the distant trees, "Is that his place?"

"Yup!"

--

Honestly, you couldn't have thought that I would possibly wait that long until morning. I don't have that kind of time. We're on a deadline here, I'm not waiting anymore.

It was probably a bad idea, as I can't even see my own feet, but I do some stupid things when I'm determined, alright?

It was actually quite easy, Annie left her bag on the desk near the door, and I just took the book, simple.

Well, not exactly.

I'm now in the freezing cold, with no way to light up where I am, no way to read it.

Not so smart, I get it.

A crunch not so far away made me drop the book in surprise.

"Any, anyone there?"

I stayed silent.

"I heard it, you know. You dropped something"

Silence.

"Uh... Hey, over here" I called as the cracking of the bushes grew louder.

A boy peered out from a bush.

For some quick moments, I hoped that it had been Finn. But it was not. Their hair was black, and their eyes were blue... I think? It looked like it was shifting between gray and blue.

"I didn't think that anyone would be here..." The boy muttered, "I'll just go"

He turned to leave, "Wait! Do you have a flashlight by any chance?"

He turned around, reaching into the pocket of his hoodie.

"Yeah?"

I put my hand out, "Can I use it? I'll give it back in the morning"

He paused, thinking over it, before tossing me the small pocket flashlight, "Sure, Just give it to me after."

He turned to go, but then seemed to think better of it, "My name's George, by the way"

Just as he disappeared back into the shadows, I called out.

"I'm... I'm Jedi, just call me that"

After the rustling of the leaves faded away, I sat down on the forest floor, and flipped open the book, messy handwriting covered the pages, smudges here and there.

I clicked open the flashlight.

First date was 1907, September 2nd. The location was written underneath the date: Camp Cypress, Cabin: Red Maple.

1908, Nov. 2nd

Camp Cypress,

Cabin: Red Maple.

I honestly cannot believe that I was actually allowed to go to this camp! My parents were all against it, but magic was secretly interesting to them, so they let me go anyways.

I've been put into Red Maple, I'm here with Ankiah, and Michia. They. Are. So. COOL!

My other friends are: Firizt, Bailey and Geoffrey, who are in the Robin Wood. We're pretty cool with each other.

I'm 13, and Bailey is almost 14. He's like, almost one entire year older than us, but still.

Ankiah studies fire magic, and Michia does Waterbending. Firizt does light warrior training. Bailey does healing and herbs, and then there's Geoffrey, he does the dark mage class.

And then there's me, I do the Aerial mage training, so I get some classes with Geoffrey because he also does a Mage class.

Ankiah doesn't really get along with Bailey, though maybe they're just annoying each other.

Ankiah says that she hears a voice in her head, and that it was telling her that friends are utterly useless and a way that she might die from, but she ignored it.

Michia had said the same thing, but added that the voice was calm and controlled, and it was saying that it was planning something.

They can't be lying.

Because I heard them too.

They tell me that I have to join them, that my power would be useful with them. They say that it would be wasted in this "small, stupid camp that doesn't even let you tap into your real power, because they don't want any people to be stronger than them"

I really don't know about that.

They've also been telling me to look at Bloodstones, but it's not as bad as it sounds. It's just a stone that can be enabled through a ritual to grant the user one wish come true, it doesn't sound that bad.

They've also mentioned Pearl a couple of time; long life, sadness, and curing madness, but it sounds so unreasonable! How can it give long life, and cure madness, but give the user sadness?

They've warned me to not tell anyone about the Turquoise, but I don't understand, it's just a gem that would turn more blue if the user is in danger, it's useless in a camp setting.

And...

Actually it's getting late, I'll write tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow, or in a week.

Bye.

The sun was rising above the horizon, its light shining through the cracks of the trees. There was no way that I could get this back in Annie's bag before they wake up.

I paused, thinking about leaving the book here, but decided against it.

It could be harmed and even more dirty, no way can I explain that.

Then the flashlight decided to run out of battery.

I can just give it to George, and have him keep it for me, on an Oath that he could not read it.

Good thing I know how to make Oaths that are related to life energy.
