Fourteen
Night turns into day, and day turns into night.
Everything they came across was abandoned.
Forests surrounded every turn, darkness sucked the light out of everything.
The towns were abandoned, no one was there.
The forests were empty, nothing moved.
Nothing to fight, nothing to destroy, nothing to rule.
This world seemed like a hollow shell of what it could have been.
It was quite boring for the person traveling across this world.
Venus.
Venus was quite bored of the scenery, the shadows, and the darkness.
Luckily or unluckily, she was not alone. Moonshine, her ally or perhaps friend, was with her.
They stayed in silence for the most part. Not minding each other that much.
That was until they suddenly saw a light flash in the distance.
Suddenly, all the tiredness of the traveling disappeared, and they both moved at a quicker pace. This might as well be the first light they've seen since the abandoned town.
The light was radiating from a small house amidst the forest, wooden fence surrounded it.
There were no noises from inside the house, but it was clear that someone was inside by the moving shadows behind the window.
Venus strolled right up to the door and to everyone's surprise except her own, she knocked.
"Come in... I've been expecting you, Venus and Moonshine"
Venus gestured for Moonshine to stay out, after all, they needed someone on the lookout.
Moonshine shot her a look of slight distrust as Venus opened the door and stepped in, head high, her eyes were focused on the newcomer... Or I suppose she was the newcomer.
Roche, as you have met him in the last chapter, was wearing a cloak. The gauze was still over his eyes, but he had a certain smile on his face that wasn't really there before.
"Hello, there... Suppose we haven't exactly met before... mmhmm?"
Roche was not standing behind the counter, but rather leaning against the wall. He continued smiling, although he was also trembling slightly.
"Venus, It's been a while... Although I doubt that you would remember"
Venus promptly closed the door, and slowly approached him. He didn't back away, no, what kind of person does that?
Venus reached out her hand, "Name's Venus, but I suppose you already know"
Roche knew the best course of action would be to take it, and so he did. He steadied himself and shook her hand very briefly before letting go.
"I'm Roche"
Venus moved a tiny bit closer, cooing softly, "Oh, but I already knew that"
Roche remained smiling, although a bit more nervously, "Of course, of course"
Venus's eyes darted around the room, the disturbance in the dust, the crates piled on the back, the footsteps in the dust.
She looked back the shopkeeper, "I suppose there are more than one of you?"
Roche felt his heart jump to his throat, was it really that obvious?
Roche cleared his head and then smiled back, "Believe whatever you want"
He refused to be broken that easily, no, he's done this before.
Venus smiled, "You can just tell me what I want to know or... I suppose we can do it the hard way, if you would rather"
Venus approached him slowly, watching his actions.
Memories were swirling in Roche's head, ones that didn't really make sense to Venus. The castle, the dungeons, the interrogations, the escape, and the flash of light.
Roche's hands found the wall, and suddenly he let out a strangled cry.
"Get out of my head!"
He was panicking, frozen in place. Venus, well... Let's just say that she was savoring his fear.
"But, dear, you can't stop me..." Venus smiled, she was having fun messing with him, his memories, and his mind, "Unless, you would like to tell me...?"
Venus noticed his right hand, it was glowing slightly. She grabbed his arm and pinned it on the wall, "Don't try anything, or you will really regret it..."
The fear was choking him, he couldn't even think straight; Venus was still in his head, and he couldn't do anything about it.
Of course, there was only so much that a person can take before they break, but Roche was really prolonging it, but it's not going to stay that way.
Venus pulled up a memory from the interrogations, and he broke.
His knees gave out, and Venus let go of his arm. He was tired and couldn't take much more.
"Now, let me ask, dear" Venus said, standing above him, "Who was here?"
Silence.
Venus thought that they had to go for another round, and then he replied.
It was soft, and you could barely hear it.
"Firizt... Finn"
Venus nodded, and stepped back, "It would have been easier if you just told me at the beginning, dear. You wouldn't have had to do that"
Roche hung his head, feeling exhausted and still in pain.
Venus did leave, and fill in what happened with Moonshine after, while Roche collected himself, and tried to calm down.
His guaze was wet with tears for the first time.
