Four

I honestly expected him to leave me half-way through our journey.

Finnick, or me #2, was far more determined than I would say that I was. His enthusiasm and cheerfulness really didn't apply to me, or at least, me right now.

"-And so, I ended up being friends with the Rules card and the Joker and also- Hey look! We're here! It's the old town!"

I squinted at the "town".

There were rows of houses, inns, and even shops. Despite all that, the castle caught my eyes first.

The castle was dark and gloomy, somehow the light of the moon didn't help light up the castle steps. Blue-flamed torches hung on the walls, barely helping.

"Looks awfully gloomy" I shrugged, the road was dimly lit, "Let's see if anyone lives in that castle up there"

Finnick shook his head, "They say that the castle is haunted, with a ghost of a person inside- Hey, wait! Where you going?"

I paused mid-step and glanced back at him, "I'm tired and I want to see if there's people there"

He pressed his lips together and then shook his head, dejectedly, "If you're so sure about it then..."

He took a step and then grinned at me, "...Then I guess I'll come too!"

In silence, we reached the castle steps.

"Alas, you have arrived..."

A hooded figure stood at the door, back to us.

"And now, please, listen to my tale"

I felt myself say, "Alright" without thinking. The figure seemed like one of those lonely prophets in that game... What game was I talking about?

Finnick gave me a questioning gaze before looking back at the figure as they began to speak.

"Once upon a time, a legend was whispered among the shadows...

"It was a legend of hope, it was a legend of dreams...

"It was also dubbed as a legend of light, and of dark...

"For eons, light and dark had lived in balance, bringing peace to my world, and to yours...

"But the sudden addition of darkness in your world, lightner...

"The fragile harmony shatters as they continue on their quest, not aware the calamity that they have brought onto us, and themselves...

"Although, after all...

"History repeats itself"

Finnick frowned, "Yeah, yeah, my new friend is definitely a lightner, the one that has to go back to his own world and stop the darkness from spreading, yeah right"

The figure turned around, shadows covering their face, "They are... Although you might not think so"

Finnick rolled his eyes, gesturing to their hood as he spoke, "Can you stop mumbling into the hood? We can barely hear you, y'know"

"Oh, sorry"

I felt my eyes widen as the figure took off their hood.

Something struck me as familiar as I looked at the girl standing in front of us. The brown hair with faded dye, brown eyes...

"My name is Gigi, or at least that's what they call me"

"Huh," Finnick scowled, "So you're the one that's been scaring off the diamonds"

"That wasn't me," Gigi paused, "It was Li- I mean Link"

Finnick opened his mouth to say something, but I beat him to it, "So you're a ghost?"

"Not entirely," She shrugged, "More like a pure entity, something along the lines of guardian angel... Although now I think about it, I think my recent hobbies aren't exactly something that angels would do"

"That's stupi-"

I elbowed Finnick in the ribs as he began to speak, "Can you wait here? I need to talk to my friend"

She nodded and I pulled Finnick further away, "What's wrong with you?"

"Probably haven't told you yet, but one of my friends back at the castle," He tilted his head east, "Was possessed by an entity and almost died, trying to reach the Lightner's world"

I frowned at Finnick, also known as me #2, "It might have been someone else, like that "Link" she mentioned"

Finnick still looked unconvinced as I dragged him back to the entity.

"So where are you two going?" She forced a smile onto her features when she realized that she would have to do all the talking, "I'll come along if you would like, I don't have to stay here since the balance of light and dark has already started to shift without Link-"

"No thank yo-"

"That would be great!" I shot a glare at Finnick as I replied, "It would be great if you joined us, we were just going to see the castle"

"Oh! That's great, I haven't seen Roche in a while since Jevon was imprisoned-"

"Let's just go," I said, my head still trying to wrap around the fact that her friend was imprisoned

"Let's go" I repeated.
